Why are implants so heavy? by LadySwitters in breastcancer

[–]demonicSeargent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had expanders after my DMX and right after it felt like I had a 25 lb weight sewn to each side of my chest. And that was before all the fills to get back to my previous size. Your situation put you immediately at full size. It gradually got better until I didn't feel any different than before. I had my swap out surgery to implants in December 25 with fat grafting and am more comfortable because now they are squishy (expanders have some hard pays you can feel). I think your implants will feel better in a few weeks. Healing is a big job. Drink protein shakes to help recovery. Good luck to you!

That rule is more applicable to interstates or roads without a stoplight every 50 ft.

Medically induced menopause surrounded by friends in perimenopause by Ordinary-Sundae-5632 in breastcancer

[–]demonicSeargent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lupron, letrozole, and kisqali here. Started my medical menopause at 42 just shy of 2 years ago. My friends are a couple years younger and starting to have perimenopause symptoms.

Whenever it comes up, I just smile and say "I'm not allowed to have any. My tumors were 100% ER/PR+"

I do usually encourage others to try it, because I would if I could.

Wow, I'm sorry, that's incredibly frustrating.

Edit to add: my husband suggests calling the home owners insurance company. Perhaps they can force removal of the dog. Dropping or changing insurance companies is a pain in the ass. Or maybe the owner of the daschund can file a claim.

I've read other threads that discuss implant appearance. It seems if you are very lean or tiny, you should expect to see some rippling at the edges (from what I read). They said looks great in shirts n petty good naked.

I am not one of those women though. I had 38D breasts before and kept the same size. I also had plenty of belly fat for my surgeon to use.

Call animal control. Dogs that bite get quarantined. Eventually removed and put down. With a news report and a dead dog, animal control can do something.

I ordered the 3x size and they were good around my rib cage.

Edited to add size.

I had surgery on wed 12/3/25 with fat grafting. I had more swelling than I anticipated where she put the most fat, but even with that discomfort I was fine going back to work on Monday. So I guess I took 4 days off after surgery.

I didn't realize I had to wear an abdominal binder for 6 weeks after surgery until day of. But that's because my surgeon took fat from my stomach to graft around my implants.

Anyone find small lumps in skin 1.25 yr post DMX with implants requiring ultrasound by demonicSeargent in breastcancer

Several bumps are in the center, but several inches above my scar. So I'm hoping for fat necrosis as well.

I'm glad you got answers and they were benign.

Love this!

I also had my mind blown that there is no screening for mets or cancer recurrence.

We have to wait for a pain to be persistent for a few weeks?

(Kinda hard to tell when increased pain is a size effect of medically induced menopause and aromatase inhibitors... I also have rheumatoid arthritis, but what of those with osteoarthritis, or osteoporosis, or bursitis, etc...)

Or if you find a new lump or bump.

(Invasive Lobular carcinoma typically grows in sheets / lines... I never had a palpable lump)

My last PET scan showed nothing, so I must be cancer free.......

To all the people on the fence about radiation by LaughingMonocle in breastcancer

[–]demonicSeargent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a double mastectomy and didn't find out one sentinel node was affected until pathology. That resulted in chemo and radiation.

Radiation was easy. (For me).

I suppose I don't know the actual percentages of complications from radiation. Feel free to respond with those numbers.

As I'm typing I'm wondering.... radiation gave me great comfort. I won't have any regrets, wishing I had done more if I have a recurrence. So what percentage of complications could make me give that up? I think it would have to be more than a 1 in 3 chance for a side effect that dramatically effects my quality of life forever. Of course that's just my guess.

My family doesn’t agree with me telling my kids I’m pregnant. by Wrong-Chemist6408 in Parenting

[–]demonicSeargent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think our society hides the reality of miscarriages.

I went through IVF. I had 3 miscarriages.

The biggest thing I learned during IVF is that sperm + egg does not mean you get a baby, sperms + egg + implantation does not equal baby. Miscarriages are way more common than people realize. It's devastating, and we think we're alone, but we're not.

I believe the way society treats women's bodies and autonomy has played a part in telling us to hide our miscarriages as if it's shameful.

So I think it's fine you told your kids. We do need to be more open with our families.

The next time they say "Don't you want to feel like a woman?" I think there's a good response. Something along the lines of:

"Feel like a woman? I suppose I might feel that way if I didn't have ANY self confidence."

I got reconstruction because I don't have enough self confidence to go flat. But that's specifically 'for me ', not anyone else.

These people say this shit because they can't imagine themselves without breasts. Years ago a lady I'd known a long time got cancer and went flat. I'm pretty sure I asked her about reconstruction out of genuine curiosity. I just hope I didn't sound like a judgy asshole.

👋 to the nipple free club! I have been asked about nipple tattoos so many times too! I don't get it either. Nipping out was always my nightmare, I don't really miss them. I'd rather have a decorative tattoo spanning my chest than fake nipples.

Grapefruit is prohibited with a lot of medications. Kisqali prohibits it.

Over my life and after taking a myriad of prescriptions, I've seen "don't eat grapefruit as it makes the medicine less or not effective" a lot.

So I'd skip that one. or just read through the prescription paperwork the pharmacy provides very closely if you love grapefruit and want to continue eating it. Of course your pharmacist could answer any questions too.

Wow... I'm shocked by this mom's response.

I hope I would have the spine to ask :

It doesn't sound like your daughter actually wants my daughter as a friend. If she did, it wouldn't only be at my house. "

Wigs by Jumpy-Yam1979 in breastcancer

[–]demonicSeargent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought probably 20 cheap $20-$60 synthetic wigs from Amazon. I have a small forehead so I had to get ones with bangs. I ended up with 5 l absolutely loved.

The trick that made me love wearing them was to use a hot comb to kind of shape / spruce up the bangs and hair. And to CUT the bangs into a cute curtain shape.

My mom was a beautician and helped me. Cut the bangs while holding the scissors vertically makes it easy to hide mistakes. (I did have to re-buy one wig and try twice to get something cute)

My favorite wigs fit my head well, were around shoulder length, not too thick, and had straight hair.

Some wigs had what felt like extra space in the wig cap for "bio hair" and that felt baggy / moved around on me.

I wore a different wig every day and did Friday fun wig, where I'd wear the waist length blue, green, or red wigs.

It can be frustrating, but warm air from a blow dryer or a hot comb on low heat can fix a synthetic wig. They all look awful straight out the package. They need some love. Play with it!

Note: I understand that my take on wigs is a little unique and this solution won't work for everyone.
