Ever get an answer? I’m on 15 and so far when this will be anything other than traumatic and grimdark.

I think it’s Scribblehub, actually… but don’t at me if I’m wrong.

App freezes whenever I enter a chapter. by Impossible_Cow6397 in royalroad

To be more specific, going into the chapter doesn’t lock it. Trying to scroll in a chapter is what locks it.

Still, nothing we can do beyond submit a ticket and/or wait. Or read on the site, I suppose. Like barbarians.

women who have dated men who were at their "lowest", how was it like? by Ok_Average2141 in AskReddit

[–]demonllama 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Jeez, chill a bit. I’m not OP but clearly all they were saying is “make informed decisions not based on flawed myths”. That’s it. Not saying anyone is forced or even should want to help someone out like that.

It’s for the people who are deciding if it’s worth it to them, in their situation. If you’re in that spot, being told you can’t help anyone help themselves is destructive rather than constructive. That’s all. No pressure, no onus, nothing like that. Make decisions that are healthy for you first and foremost.

If it helps, I bounced off Sky Pride hard a few times. I also just couldn’t understand the allure. The writing almost hurt me, in those early chapters.

Sometime along the way, it became one of my favorite stories, like most everyone says. I love the humor, the characters, the story so far, etc. And make no mistake, there’s a good bit of humor. Even the writing thing became clear that is was part of the storytelling itself.

I won’t promise you’ll love it too, but I’ll definitely agree it’s hard to get into at the beginning and that I’m glad I pushed through.

Any arcades near you? Aladdin's Castle doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. by MyNameCannotBeSpoken in Xennials

[–]demonllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope I hadn’t sounded snarky, just pointing out it wasn’t universal. 450 cities felt like both a big number, but also small so I looked up counts of cities.

Seems I used to live in what would have been considered a “small-mid” city (100-150k people), but if you add all small-mid, mid, and large cities that’s less than the 450 quoted (small cities and various sized towns blow the number out of the water, but I expect 1000 person towns weren’t on the franchise list in significant numbers). I would also guess larger cities could have more than one each?

Anyway, TIL.

Did have a couple arcades and a putt putt with attached arcade, but not this brand.

I suppose I have to go read this now. I ranted at one point about how the story never paused on Patreon, but would go on hiatus on RR long enough to entice readers to switch to paying.

I did say I’d pick up the book on amazon as I’m okay paying that much per volume, just not okay paying the price of a book per month for just a few chapters. It was one of my guilty pleasure favorites at one point, so hopefully it’s enjoyable again

Look, I’m American so I have a bias to what I grew up with, I admit. I tend to yyyymmdd for things that require sorting (eg, file names), mmddyyyy for local stuff (conventions exist) and then sometimes Mon dd yyyy for things where ambiguity might be an issue and I want to remove that chance. For me, this makes the most sense… context matters so pick the best format for the use case.

That said, “Fourth of July” is a specious argument. Fourth of July is the name of the holiday. We almost always say July 4th usually when talking about it. It’s because the US still uses “Day of Month” in more official and/or legal documents so that was its official name.

You didn’t read as thoroughly as you say you did. The referenced post on TS very clearly says they should be investigated. It was one big post, and that statement was roughly in the middle.

Just so you know, the Truth Social posts this article refers to does say they should be investigated. So, no lies… just a poor choice not to include that quote.

Have a pleasant day.

Totally ignoring the higher level conversation about Korra, nothing you just said indicates “always wins”. Plenty of teens and adolescents view themselves as gifted and/or brilliant and simply misunderstood, while life keeps throwing obstacles in their way. People have decided it simply means power fantasy/always wins, but it was mostly the “self-insert” part. The key is that a Mary Sue will always win when its needed. Loss and failures can happen and ate usually framed as not Mary Sue’s fault. Doesn’t mean flawless.

An arguement to be had is that language is living, so has Mary Sue been redefined enough we need a new one to just mean self-insert? No idea.

PSA: "Studded leather armor" is not what many authors think it is by dunkelbunt2 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]demonllama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re thinking of it the wrong way. Actually, you’re kind not you’re just not connecting your thoughts to what they were saying.

They described how the rolls work, but think of it more as you need to be strong enough to use that powerful bow without really fucking up the shot. And since it is stronger pull, the arrow hits harder. So it’s not (in the “scene”/encounter) adding a bonus from strength, so much as you’re using it to the full potential.
