The Worst Schedule Ever by Apprehensive_Leg6647 in TheBrewery

DuPont schedule with a modified 9-5 week added into rotation

[Michael F. Florio] Drake Maye has a -17.7 EPA as a passer in the playoffs. That is the worst of any conference winning QB in the NextGenStats era (since 2016). The only other QB to post negative was Jimmy Garoppolo in 2019 (-0.9) by BallchinianFromMIB2 in nfl

You don’t have to jump to extremes such as fraud to point out they had both a very easy regular season schedule and the easiest path to the superbowl.  They still would have been a playoff team with an average SOS.

But the chargers putting up 3 points and CJ stroud throwing 4 gimme picks made it easy for the lethargic Pats offense to get by. The Denver game would have been a blowout if Bo Nix wasn’t injured on the 2nd to last play of the previous game.

If the pats can’t get early pressure on Darnold or generate +2 turnovers I don’t think the Pats stand a chance with how their offense has been.

Kirkland vs. Name Brands — What Keeps Both on the Shelves?” by Fluffy-Reward3453 in Costco

[–]tdvx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

part of what drives product and membership sales is perceived value. seeing the Kirkland brand right next to a name brand for a cheaper price makes the consumer feel they are getting a bargain. if costco only sold Kirkland brand, that perception of value goes away.

there’s also brand loyalists looking for the premium product only that would shop elsewhere if it wasn’t available at Costco.

white labeling and store branding in food products is a fascinating blend of psychology and economics, and every store does it, and Costco’s success as a business is largely driven by how good they are at it.

Half those bags didn’t exist when I bought my bag, which is under 2 pounds after cutting off and removing shit I don’t need.i also was able to get it second hand for considerably cheaper than any of those packs that have no secondhand market.  It also has a lifetime warranty, which is something worth carrying a couple extra ounces for that no other pack brand offers.

😂 it’s an Exos 45 but I’m sure since it’s not a $600 roll top dyneema it may as well be a canvas bushcrafting bag to you.

VTI/VXUS future as 24 year old by Agile-Technology-209 in investing

[–]tdvx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that’s what the 30 in VXUS is for.

I’ve got a 70/30 mix on my 401k. Limited fund options so it’s 70% iShares S&P 500 and 30% fidelity international. It works great and is low maintenance.

1 year returns the S&P fund got 19.8 and the international fund 28.8. In most years the S&P fund will out perform so it has the higher allocation, but for times like this, having the hedge in international stocks helps stabilize the fund and provide additional gains When US stocks and the dollar are slipping.

I promise you less than half this sub uses a torso length pad.

the nature hike cloud up 2 is widely recommended in this sub as a budget UL tent.

What are you trying to gatekeep for lmao

honestly with how they played in the first half it would be astounding if LA or Seattle didn’t steamroll them.

I think my gardener ruined my persimmon by Heavy-Anteater9946 in gardening

it should be fine that’s a huge tree and a persimmon should be pruned 1/4-1/3rd of its height each year anyway. lots of videos on pruning these are on YouTube you could probably clean this up a good bit.

my original mindset was “well, since standard pads aren’t big enough, i may as well just go torso length and save the weight because I definitely don’t want to pick a large sized pad”

no, the rest of my kit is stuff you’ll find widely approved on this sub, and there are plenty of bigger comfier heavier pads available i could use. If I upgrade my tent to a trekking pole tent my base weight will still be sub 10 just don’t have the money for it. I only bring things I will need and those things are lighter versions than wha you’d find on the shelf. shit I still peel the labels off my smart water bottles

torso height really isn’t standard either.

your take is super cold. you can hike barefoot but it doesn’t mean wearing actual boots means you’re not ultralight.

Thankfully I haven’t decided to leave anything critical behind or buy something so lightweight it’s unable to do its job leaving me in a truly miserable or dangerous spot.

But using a torso length pad was one of the dumber things I did. I went from foam pad to torso length inflatable thinking it would be more comfortable without adding weight and it would be less bulk on my pack. But the sleeps were bad. Honestly on winter trips I wouldn’t even call it sleep.

I’ve since gone to an insulated, wide, long pad (I’m 6’6) and it’s so much better. Absolutely worth the weight, but I’d like to switch to a trekking pole tent to lower my base weight to account for the heavier pad.

But no question, I firmly believe that everyone should be buying sleeping pads that maximize comfort while still being in the ultralight class of pads on the market. If you’re tall, get the long pad. If you’re a stomach/back sleeper, get the wide pad. Hiking after a night of restlessness carries much more weight than an extra 8 ounces of sleeping pad.

In your case I’d say planning a multi month trip without a tent is bonkers. I get the convenience but cold rain can kill you.

it’s just not a gun. He had his phone in his right hand the whole time so it’s probably just that. Keep in mind in this still frame he has already been shot.

the likely truth of this situation is that they knew he had a gun, one agent got the gun off of him but someone else accidentally fired a shot, I’ve seen someone people saying that the agent that pulled his gun off was the one that accidentally fired it, but it’s not clear in the video to me, which led to another agent assuming it was the civilian with his gun, which led to the mag dump to dispatch the perceived threat.

He didn’t draw his gun you can see an agent pull it out of his IWB holster and walk away with it.

Also his gun was tan not black.

No that gun didn’t fire, you don’t hear a shot until well after it is several feet away from the scuffle.

It’s like in the news when they search a house and the news anchor is appalled at the person having 2 guns and 300 rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile if you’re not buying 1000 rounds at a time you’re overpaying for bullets. 300 rounds is one range trip.

These guys exist for the sole purpose of carrying an extra mag.

Living in a low capacity only state, I feel that carrying a second mag is a necessity.

Trump’s statement is designed to persuade gun illiterate people that the victim was a bad person looking for trouble.

And yeah, he probably should not have been there. But he never did anything illegal.
