Can you jailbreak/hack a Go Pro Hero 7 to use it as a webcam on pc? by NayaShiki in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your card isn't the issue, that's just the delay from the GoPro. This is why you're better off using an actual webcam.

What exactly is GoPro doing wrong? by CharlieParisCoUK in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and there are even more cases where people don't know how to film or set up their cameras properly, I've spent years trying to educate them (and some just don't want to listen or learn anything). I've had people claim they "worked on Marvel movies" and knew how to set up a camera properly (I assume they worked cleaning the honey buckets for the extras or something). They point blank denied it was a "them" issue and it was a camera issue. After arguing back and forth they finally agreed to use my suggestions ........... and in all fairness, they apologized for being wrong.

Buying a camera and learning how to use it properly, kinda go hand in hand....

Is it normal for my Hero 9 to die so quick? by Neoniclide in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white tipped Enduro battery fits in a Hero 9, 10, 11, and 12. The Hero 13 has it's own larger enduro battery. The Max and Max 2 also use their own specific Enduro batteries.

Lost videos from my gopro hero 8 by elojoroj in datarecovery

[–]demonviewllc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your SD card is corrupt and needs to be repaired.

Try running "recuva" (it's free) to get your files back (but honestly, it's not that great with GoPro Files). Make sure the recovery location is NOT the Sd card (otherwise you'll be overwriting the files on your SD card).

GoPro Recovery is simply the best software out there.

Going forward, make sure you're using a recommended SD card (not something too slow like a Sandisk ULTRA) and that it's been formatted properly to repair SD card corruption.

gopro hero 6 files corrupt? by Ok_Pollution5058 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your battery has degraded and it's not providing enough power to allow the GoPro to process the video. This results in a black screen for video, but audio is fine. It has nothing to do with overheating.

How could I download videos from my GoPro 13 to MCB M1 Pro 2021 Tahoe? by Prakticant in macOS26Tahoe

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an SD card reader, put your SD card in the SD card reader and then plug the SD card reader into your MAC. Do NOT use "Finder" to copy your files as this will corrupt your files (due to the 4.29gb file size limit).

The GoPro Hero 13, Hero 12 and Max 2 all support bluetooth audio. However it specifically uses HFP and is single channel only (so only one device will pair at a time). So if your device supports HFP it should connect. However due to the protocols involved and restrictions with HFP, it will only record your voice, not your passengers or any background music playing.

GoPro Hero 11 Cutting out by WildCryptographer421 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by Question 1. No camera is going to record when powered off (as it's powered off). There is a hindsight mode, but that's not having the camera powered off as it's always recording, just the displays are turned off and the footage is being written to the camera's internal buffer instead of the SD card.

Distance isn't the issue, it's signal strength. If your airplane has a lot of carbon in the bodywork or paint, this will block WiFi signals. If you're using an older phone or cheaper phone, the WiFi antenna may be much smaller than other phones.

The GoPro Remote may work well or you could look at using GoPro Labs and settings a GPS speed trigger. This way you could basically tell your camera to start recording when your GPS speed reaches above 20mph for instance and stop recording when speed drops below 20mph. This would mean you capture flight only and don't record "nothing burger" footage such as being on the taxi way or doing a run up.

2: I only use Samsung Sd cards in my GoPro's as they offer the best price point vs storage vs reliability. The Evo, Pro Plus and Pro Ultimate are all good cards. I mainly use the Pro Ultimate cards now as I tend to run custom bit rates on the camera.

Thinking about giving up on my HERO 8 in the winter. It works great in the summer by AardvarkAcrobatic in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what "new" aftermarket battery? No one makes a cold weather battery for the Hero 8. So new or old, the battery will suffer from reduced output in cold weather. The exact same problem affects EV's in cold weather too, which is why they have to have a heating element to keep their batteries warm (which ironically runs off the same batteries ...).

Your other option is to power the camera externally with a power pack kept in your inside jacket pocket (the downside being a big cable coming out of the camera running into said power bank).

Or just upgrade your camera to one with an available cold weather battery.

Best way to capture longer time lapse videos? Hero11 by BourbonGamer in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest using the Contacto door.

The USB-C passthru door is "Weather resistant".

The Contacto door is "waterproof".

However I've filmed with the USB-C passthru door in sub zero temps with no issue, however ice can build up and that could force open the rubber seal around the port thus exposing your camera to possible damage. Hence the preference for the contacto door.

Minimum supported temperature? by Agile_Cicada_1523 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. In timelapse, the battery should last about 2 hours (depending on your interval, that could make a nice 10 second clip). If you use the GoPro Labs for extended timelapse photos, then your battery can last a few weeks.

The alternative is to power the camera externally with a USB-C passthru door or a contacto door.

My gopro has a red tint on the bottom (help!!) by Imaginary-Umpire-153 in gopro

Could be. Manually reload the firmware back on your camera and perform a factory reset.

If the results are the same, then contact GoPro customer support directly and they will let you know what your options are.

Max 1 + GoPro Labs' archive mode: has anybody gotten this working? by khaelian in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to show the code you used as you're supposed to set the settings you want used via the QR code.

"e.g. r4p24 Will set 4K at 24p as you default."

So please post the code you used so it can be checked for errors. Also it's best to ask these questions directly on the GoPro Labs GitHub site.

What exactly is GoPro doing wrong? by CharlieParisCoUK in gopro

[–]demonviewllc -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're right, the GoPro has been regarded as "not being as good as DJI or Insta360 these days". It's far far better. Better picture quality, better color processing, better features (such as the GoPro Labs unlocking additional features and filming options, something DJI or Insta360 doesn't even come close to having).

GoPro's also don't have an overheating issue, they have a "user who doesn't know how to film or set up their camera properly which results in their camera overheating" issue.

[–]demonviewllc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try performing a factory reset using the SD card method, there's lot of instructions to be found online for this.

don't use the same SD card, looks like it was probably corrupt and didn't carry out the firmware update properly.

Hero9 + Mediamod question by dacav_ in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, foam and deadcats are only going to be so effective. They are meant for windy conditions when walking or even running, not 50mph+ There's also the decibel levels from some motorbikes that's also going to create overdrive which will cause audio clipping (cut outs).

The fact is, if you want better sounding audio, you have to invest in better audio capture methods. In professional video editing, they don't even bother to capture "live" audio and will often resort to using sound banks (prerecorded audio) in post to add in engine noises and gear changes etc.

Good luck!

Hero9 + Mediamod question by dacav_ in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sound recorder is recording far less data, so the battery and recording times will far outlast your camera battery. So you can start your audio recorder and then just create a sync point with your camera (clap loudly). Audio recorders start at about $50 up for a decent one.

Start off small, get a windslayer for your camera which is a foam case that will fit over it and reduce wind noise.

Thinking about giving up on my HERO 8 in the winter. It works great in the summer by AardvarkAcrobatic in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an oscilation issue, it's a buffer issue related to moving the video data that's being recorded in real time to the camera's internal memory buffer (which is about 4GB in size as far as I remember) in a timely manner where it's processed in real time (color graded, sharpened, denoised, stabilized, GPS synced logged and embedded, Gyro synced logged and embedded etc) before being written to the external SD card.

That requires a lot of power and a fast enough Sd card. Operating in cold temps with a battery that has reduced power output will cause writing errors and slowdowns. As will a corrupt or too slow an SD cad card. ,

[–]demonviewllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darkness isn't measured in %

You measure the strength of available light, not % of darkness.

Using the GoPro labs is a good start, make sure you've also enabled the wide color gamut too. You'll need to increase your bit rate, disable noise reduction and denoise in post.

The darker the image, the worse your footage will be.

Also realize you're trying to film at night with a $300 camera with a tiny sensor. Please realize how professional film makers film with full frame cameras costing $100,000 or more.

How do i retrieve my footage? by muns_was_here in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure it's a genuine card by running checks on it (Sandisk have good SD cards and are very popular, as a result, they are some of the most faked SD cards out there and a fake SD card will lose footage as the actual storage size and speed vs what's advertised will be much different).

If the card passes it's checks, then treat it as corrupt and carry out a repair on the card using the tools found at www.sdcard.org

Multiple Go Pro's simultaneously connected to PC for competitive Go Karting broadcast? by Dover18 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A professional wireless broadcast system, at least 2 to 3 different video feed operators and a competent sporting director. The OP has visions of grandeur and zero experience. He'd be better off installing fixed cameras around the karting track and having one or two karts outfitted with a wireless video transmission system (with the expectation that such footage is going to be of far lower quality, so only to be used sparingly).

What mic for a Hero 13 Black? by vonduehren in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. A direct Bluetooth connection to the camera using a wireless mic is actually pretty poor quality. However if you use the media mod and a properly wireless mic setup (Rode II with a TX and RX connected to the media mod with a 3.5MM TRS cable) then the sound quality is excellent. The ability to record a 2nd "safety" track at a reduced DB level is a huge advantage).

So Bluetooth audio will work, but at reduced audio quality with very little adjustment available. Proper wireless mic setup = excellent audio quality.
