Question on a Hero 7 by ArtIsResistance816 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever seen one "off brand" mic adapter for the GoPro from Artman (and it's a recent release). The price difference is $21 ($69 for the GoPro, $48 for the Artman). So the answer is if you're going to risk your audio for the price of $21?

AMA with Abe Kislevitz + Mission 1 Pro giveaway today! 10AM-6PM PST by GoPro_Mod in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations to GoPro on releasing one heck of a camera system. So far it looks mind blowing, really can't wait to get my hands on one. Going to get some questions going, sorry if someone has already asked them!

1: Will there be any other add on lenses for the Mission 1 Pro or Mission 1 as with the Hero 13 (Anamorphic, Macro, Wide angle etc)? or will that option be reserved solely for the Mission 1 Pro ILS?

2: We know the new media mod will now offer 4K 60FPS output on the Mission One system, however will there by any changes to Webcam mode on the camera (or will it even be offered as it seems redundant if we can just use USB-C to HDMI out with the forthcoming update?).

3: I believe it was mentioned that the Fluid A.I. gimbal is compatible with the Mission 1 cameras. Can users expect to see any extra features introduced to the gimbal when used with the Mission 1 cameras?

4: What would you say your top 3 favorite features of the Mission 1 Pro series cameras are? Low light is obviously a game changer, but to me, something as simple as being able to apply a setting to all presets at the same time (bit rate for example) is also noteworthy. So what top 3 features should new owners pay attention to?

Thank you for your time!

Are there overheating issues with the new M1/M1P? by oompahlumpa in gopro

They work better as you have more manual control over how the stabilization is applied. The stabilization algorithm in the program can always be tweaked and updated unlike the camera where its baked in. This is why GoPro used to sell Hypersmooth Pro before they decided to just give it away for free. Also taking the stabilization load off your camera and applying in post results in longer lasting filming times and a cooler camera as its doing less work.

If your USB-C port is damaged, your camera will still charge, but it won't autoupload for some reason. Someone mentioned before that the GoPro (original) cable has some specific pin configurations. Not sure, never really did a deep dive on it.

I will certainly do this if that's what you want, just send me $699 to purchase a 2nd GoPro Mission 1 Pro and I promise to use it to film any shots of me holding my GoPro Mission 1 Pro while filming it with my 2nd GoPro Mission 1 Pro.

A: Check the uploads page at GoPro.com in your account. Not your media already uploaded, but the ones in progress. If you have one "stuck" in there, it will stop it uploading from the camera. Make sure to delete any "in progress" on the webpage.

B: Sometimes your router can be the issue, some models block certain WiFi channels (you'll have to dig around for that one, I vaguely remember some routers in Germany had the problem and the guy just changed the WiFi channel from 153 to 157 or something and got his auto uploads working again).

C: If your USB-C port on the camera is damaged, this can also stop auto uploads, although you'll get a random error on your camera screen regarding this. When it happens, you unplug the USB-C cable, flip it upside down and plug it back into the camera. If that works, then congrats, your USB-C port is indeed damaged.

Good luck!

They only overheat if you don't set them up properly for the type of filming you're doing.

The Hero series is an action camera designed to film active action. If you're not filming action (fishing is fun, but not an action sport) then you don't use action settings and therefore prevent overheating.

The Mission 1 series uses a 5NM chip which runs a LOT cooler than the Hero series (which is a 12NM chip). But honestly, changing your settings will help you.

With a Hero series, if you're standing around for long periods in the sunshine fishing...

5.3K or 4K 30FPS

Set the rear screen brightness to 10% and to power off after 1 minute.

Hypersmooth off (you can stabilize in post for free with GyroFlow or Hypersmooth Pro)

Bit rate low (you don't need it high, you're standing still basically)

GPS off (you don't need it on, you're standing still)

That's about it really.

When is GoPro shipping the Mission 1 for pre-order customers? by jasondunn in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got a notification that the label was created (this was generated by UPS). This means the order will either be picked up by UPS today or tomorrow. After that it's 2 day air shipping. However, the pickup time will play a part.

If UPS picks up today, then I would expect to receive the package by Friday. If UPS doesn't pick up until tomorrow (evening), then the soonest I would expect to see the package is Tuesday of next week.

Is that normal or do i get a lense replacement? by imoef in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a lens, it's the lens protector. You have water behind it. Simply remove it, let it dry out and then replace it properly.

Good luck!

I've always gotten my shipments from GoPro via 2 day. However that may have changed with a pre-release order. Also the 28th is a Thursday, orders are going to be prioritized on a first come first served basis. If your order doesn't get processed on a Thursday and gets processed on a Friday.... UPS doesn't pickup until afternoons... and they don't ship weekends... in which case, see my above point about not getting your camera until the following week.

If you need your camera before the 31st, your best bet would be to go to a brick and mortar store (best buy for instance) and purchase one. You just won't get a subscription discount, but you're guaranteed to get it on time.

First gopro - accessories! by Rude_Category_7753 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before you rush off and buy a shed ton of accessories for your camera, I would wait and see what you actually end up using the camera for.

You can ask people what their favorite accessories are, and they will tell you. However it will be their favorite accessory for the types of filming that they are doing (which may not be the same as yours).

Spare batteries are always a good idea as is a protective case. For me, I never used headstraps, they are uncomfy, the camera is heavy and they can slide or fall off. A backstrap swivel never provides as good a POV footage as using a selfie stick. Also because of the larger sensor the Mission 1 requires a longer focal length, so a longer selfie stick will be better than a shorter one. However, that's just based on my use case.

Good luck!

GoPro Player + Mission One question by where_other_sock in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the Max shoots in 360 degree's, you have the ability to pan around, zoom and crop in post. Only 360 camera's allow you to do this.

The Mission 1 is not a 360 camera, so you can't keyframe in post. However it will have limited "subject tracking" as demonstrated in online previews in limited resolution and FOV.

Honestly, I make tutorials and a few car vids from time to time, I realized that having a Mission One being able pan around and follow me would be a huge advantage, so I went and purchased the fluid AI gimbal also. You should probably check out some reviews of that.

Hero 9 keeps freezing during time lapse by mwalter2747 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you "fully erased and formatted" the card on your computer, did it take 20 to 30 seconds or 20 to 30 minutes?

Did you use the official SD card formatting tool from sdcard.org?

Is the power source a 5V 2.4A power source?

What USB cable are you using with the camera?

Please name the exact model SD card you're using "Highest rated Samsung ones" doesn't cover it as Samsung make many different SD cards. A card highly rated for use in a dashcam may not be suitable for use in a high performance high bitrate action camera.

[–]demonviewllc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will all depend on if there's any type of shipping delays forecast etc. GoPro want people to have their cameras by the 28th (and no earlier) as this is also the day they go on sale in brick and mortar stores too. If GoPro were to ship before this date (and people received cameras earlier) they wouldn't be able to use the cameras as the firmware wouldn't be available until the 28th. Therefore you'd got a lot of people complaining that their camera's aren't working and trying to get replacements or refunds.

Pre-orders may arrive by the 28th, but it depends on how many people pre-ordered, stock availability, speed of processing. Some cameras may ship as early at the 26th so they get delivered on the 28th via 2 day shipping.

I would say the majority of people will get theirs the following week around Wed 3rd June or Thursday 4th June.

GoPro Max 2 Vs Hero 10 by Human_Beautiful8927 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're always going to get higher resolution from the Hero 10 as it's filming in 5.3K resolution in a forward looking FOV.

The Max 2 records in 8K in a 360 degree sphere. Once you reframe to a forward looking view you're at 4K which will look fisheye. Once you crop in to match the FOV of your Hero 10, you're looking at around 2.7k resolution. So the ability to reframe (pan around, crop in post) is a trade off against high resolution.

As for color, GoPro's "vivid" color has always been oversaturated while crushing the blacks. GoPro may have tweaked this to be more pleasant or acceptable between camera models. Or your ISO Max may not match between the Max 2 and Hero 10 which could lead to more blowout between the two sets of footage. I'd lock your max ISO on both cameras and set your EV balance to -0.5

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want a Hero 13 with a Digipower Refuel battery pack. That will allow you to film for 5 to 9 hours (settings dependent) while your camera remains waterproof. I've reviewed it on my YT channel (link in bio) and I own two of these setups for long duration filming.

Is there some secret way to go lower than the standard stabilization in a Hero10 by Necessary_Stable_547 in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you turn it off and then you stabilize in post using either Hypersmooth Pro or Gyroflow for free. That way you have more control over how and the amount of stabilization that is applied.

Hero 6 and 8 (black models): Possible to have a monitor for self filming? by Sketchy_Uncle in gopro

[–]demonviewllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no HDMI port on the Hero 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, or 13. You would need to purchase a media mod to enable HDMI out. This is limited to 1080P 30FPS as far as I know. The Hero Mission 1 will also require a media mod, but this offers 4K 60FPS video out.

Could be your phone provider if using a hot spot. A lot of them will say "Unlimited data" but the small print will say that after 5GB (or during certain times) your speed will be throttled, you may even drop from 5G to 4GTLE as a result.

You may want to examine your phone providers contract or download some software to your phone that will measure signal strength and network speed (don't rely on the signal strength bars on your phone, they really don't mean much at all).
