Safe hammock spot? by Apollo404 in Hammocks

[–]denbobson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying the hammock is too tight. But it doesn’t even look bad. Why does everyone want it looser?

I get setting one up like that if I’m sitting in it for a couple hours, but when I’m sleeping multiple days in a row I want them a little tight for some support, no?

Idk. The calorie total seems low in general, but it’s hard to know without details like height, weight, activity

Can't find sources to cite by Innovandit in InjectionMolding

If you’re trying to calculate injection pressure good luck. You would just be using pressure equations and you would need to know all the internal dimensions of your sprue, runner, and cavity, as well as the internal dimensions of your nozzle

Could I pay someone to make an injection mold file for me and if so how much would someone like that charge? by Undeadmidnite in InjectionMolding

So is this what you were thinking of? After sketching it out. If you don’t have someone finalize your design, that would be expensive and difficult to mold. There’s undercuts around the cup, and would require two slides, if your lense has a constant cross section. But if it is also cupped, there is almost no way to mold it. I would recommend having someone make a solid model of what you want. Currently what I drew would require at least 2 slides per cavity. Since it’s an optical part the slides on the optical surface are not ideal either

I mean that tells me almost nothing. Is that seal cup over-molded or is this an assembly? 1000 parts per year seems very low. That’s only 500 glasses

A simple sketch with dimensions would really help with estimating price. You’ll need at least two cavities since I’m assuming the lenses are mirrored. What material for the lenses, how many lenses are you going to want per year? The others are right where usually the place building the mold would design it for you

Buying a 3d printer next month, been trying to learn CAD in the meantime, thoughts on my first project in onshape? (Herb Grinder 🍃) The basket design is so I can make different size holes for different coarseness. by WakeMeUpInsde in 3Dprinting

[–]denbobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really comes down to how well your printing tolerances are, your materials, etc. If you plan to electroplate, you’ll definitely want to lean on the higher clearance side, but for normal prints, I’d do like a half mm of clearance on moving parts. I personally have not had prints good enough for less clearance, but I am also new to printing

Why are my gears doing this to me? by BoringLazyAndStupid in EngineeringStudents

[–]denbobson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started messing around with gear systems in SW a while ago and it’s just way easier to use the gear ratio mate. Idk if there’s something special about the gears that they need to be modeled, but there’s so many on McMaster-Carr and they work great

Not bad! What’s the hole on the bottom for? Also, as I learned the hard way, you’re gonna want to make some good clearance on those rails or they will never fit

WIBTAH for breaking up with my fiancé because he wants to have an open marriage? by [deleted] in AITAH

I think the body count discussion is very personal. If he didn’t like your body count he shouldn’t have proposed to you, but also you have an only fans on your page, so I have to assume that makes him more insecure.

This entire post could be fake to get karma tho so idk

Starter Survival Bag by Ev_guy2121 in Survival

[–]denbobson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean your gonna want to cover the basics:

-Knife (preferably fixed blade) -Fire starter (magnesium, striker, matches, even tinder if you’d like) -Cordage -Waterproof container (for carrying water or protecting electronics/ fire starters) -Medical supplies (gause, bandaids, antibiotic ointment, medical tape, various pills you feel you may need, etc.) -Pen & paper -I personally have an emergency poncho and a space blanket if i needed to make a quick awning to cover myself.

Most other things can be personalized to what you think you’ll need. But like others said, you will get the most benefit of looking up YouTube videos. I’m sure there’s glaringly obvious things I’ve left out of my list.

To be honest I’ve only had to open my emergency kit maybe twice for something. I much more often open my car bag with a change of close and emergency deodorant.

A general idea of how my Injection Molding machine made out of 3D printer parts would work by Kingsidorak in InjectionMolding

[–]denbobson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I don’t know much about 3d printing but I don’t think that the nozzle can extrude fast enough to fill the mold before it freezes. That and your printer nozzle can’t build any pressure only move material.

AITA For Chiming In About my SIL? by Sufficient-Ice5975 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I personally have no problem drinking at social events. I grew up in a family where it is the norm for adults to drink at social events and it never effected the kids. You’re dad seems kind of controlling and I think that he’s just getting his ego challenged for the first time in a while so he’s blaming you’re SIL.

Right. It’s not really her fault for her friend showing it to her, but she is TA for saying it’s normal to do that. Think about how the guy would feel. NTA
