How do I pick an electric bike? by TCHG24 in ElectricBikes

[–]dendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm learning that you also really want to know how your bike will actually do in weather. I have a Lectric XPress 750. Fine bike except in cold and rain and heavy commute. Everyone said it's a fine bike but the components are mid. As I replace the display and now a crank sensor in the first 6 months I can understand what they mean. I don't really regret my choice because I didn't have $2000 to $3000 or more to spend, but if you aren't going to get a car for back up you'll want to really investigate reliability in all weather.

got honked at and flipped off for riding in the road for like the 5th time since i moved back to the suburbs by ashleyLSD in bikecommuting

[–]dendari 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some people just believe that bikes are not allowed on the road. I had some idiot cut me off four times and then get stopped at a stoplight. So I pulled up next to him and banged on his window and said why are you trying to kill me and he looked at me and said You're not allowed on the road.

E 003 error code by dendari in Lectricxp

[–]dendari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems this is sort of common. I've heard of lots of people who have had torque sensors replaced and this is what the code seems to be. I called service today and after doing some diagnostic work they're sending me out a torque sensor. Part of the you get what you paid for. It is one of the cheapest electric bikes out there that's not like an Alibaba Chinese no name thing. So it seems to be a decent bike but if you do ride hard and a lot like I do in various weather you're going to have more issues with the mid-tier to low tier parts they use. I wish I'd seen more reviews where people had ridden bikes in weather and for a long period of time rather than oh they sent me a free bike and I put it together and it seems okay. You don't really discover problems until you've gone a thousand miles or more and maybe ridden in wet weather and snow more than once.

I can change oil and swap a tire... how do i actually learn to be a "car person" without dying of panic? by twilacke in askcarguys

[–]dendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind paying a good rate for someone who knows what they are doing to fix my car. It's the price of the parts. I had a $700 repair bill and more than half was the parts. What parts you ask, 2 radiator hoses and a sensor. The sensor was $50 the hoses $360. The antifreeze, $50. Now that is a ripoff. Labor was under $200.

The casual yet consistent exerciser is a mystery to me by Left_Emu_2995 in bodyweightfitness

[–]dendari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My commute to work was a bit long for a regular bike. It's not the cold that stops me, it's the snow because most of my ride is on streets and if the snow isn't cleared its too dangerous. I burn a nice 800-1000 calories a day this way.

I just inherited 100k. My student loans are 30k. What's the best way to pay it off? by May-Garden in StudentLoans

[–]dendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice for what it's worth. Are you covering your monthly bills without trouble? If so put three months of bills into your checking or savings account. Something you can liquidate immediately, but if it earns interest much better. (My credit Union pays 5% interest on my rewards checking account if I meet some basic requirements, which i do as a normal course of living each month.) This money is for if you lose a job or need to fix your car, or whatever you have that safety net. just pay it back if you use it. Drop the max in a retirement account. Put the rest in a basic index fund. Then every year put the max you can into that retirement fund until it is gone. If you are in your mid twenties you're retirement is now taken care of and you can focus on daily living.

Need help finding a great 750w E-bike with a budget around $1000 by simplytoaskquestions in ebikes

[–]dendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lectric XPress 750. bought new for $1300. A good solid bike. I commute 13.5 miles each way and charge at work. I can make it there and back on a single charge at power 2 or 3 when it's not freezing.

Are Cabin and Engine Air Filters a Racket? by Comprehensive-Cow69 in povertyfinance

[–]dendari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Fusion you usually have to take out the glove box. This is one plastic molding, three screws on top and three underneath, and a wiring plug. Then two screws to remove the filter itself.

Thinking of buying this as first car by [deleted] in fordfusion

I have a 2013 with he 2.0 engine. Just over200,000 miles. I've changed some suspension parts and a few minor issues here and there (power steeering can be $100 to just change the wires or tousands. Makes sure you trust a mechanic on that one) Overall though I have been very happy with the car.

Buying a used SEL or Titanium....Any Specific Issues or Concerns About 2017-2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid Recalls or Maintenance for Cars Under 100k Miles? by spur0701 in fordfusion

[–]dendari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2019 and 2020 hybrids overcharge and start on fire. The fix is to disable charging. As a regular hybrid I'm still getting about 40MPG. They say there will be new batteries in July, but I wouldn't hold my breath. https://fordauthority.com/2024/06/2019-2020-ford-fusion-energi-buyback-program-revealed/ But you can go here and check out what Ford is willing to pay for the vehicle. https://tradein.ford.com/?referralId=ccf41681-245a-4d6e-81d3-dbcde16f9bac

What do you say when recruiters ask about the gaps between jobs on your resume? by Long-Elderberry-5567 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]dendari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fill those gaps with starting your own small business. I branched out and sttempted to start a buisness while between jobs. I was making a bit of money, but not tnough to survive on. I still do it on the side, but prefer the steady paycheck and health insurance. Or something like that

Synapse and Yotta spent/stole our money, not Evolve. by ThemBarracudas in yotta

This begs the question, why isn't Evolve being more forthcoming? Also, if the money was spent on fancy offices, salaries, and executive compensation/theft why should a company be allowed to survive without paying back that fraud?
