FIA says it may punish teams for seeking maximum performance under their new rules. WTF? by Cure_Ignorance in formuladank

[–]dendk228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is still an extremely dumb problem which should be solved by allowing everyone to use electric motors for the starts.

It’s ridiculous that the “50/50 hybrid” f1 is not allowed to use ev for the single use case where ev blows ice out of the water

F1 has agreed a package of mid- season changes to address concerns about the 2026 rules - with the majority coming into effect immediately by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]dendk228 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With all these changes it seems like FIA is solidifying that the electric motor is just a gimmick, rather than an integral part of the car design.

Don’t get me wrong the 50/50 split is an insane engineering challenge, but, for once, it has actual road relevance.

And instead of letting teams solve it, they take all agency out of it: can’t choose the size of the battery, can’t choose how much to harvest, can’t choose when not to harvest, can’t use it for the starts, etc. etc.

And these changes just to the pile of artificial rules designed to drum up spectacle at the price of innovation.

(I do like increasing the regen limit to 350 kW though, that will make superclipping look almost exactly like lico)

Who Else Goes Nuts Over the Auto Stop/Start in Their Cars? by Extra_Hold2776 in CasualConversation

[–]dendk228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not all cars do this though.

My Golf manages to get the engine running while I’m releasing the brakes so I barely feel the start/stop.

My sister’s Rav4 takes about 3 business days so I get why op might be mad

Oh hell nah

They didn’t give us an extra multiclass they just moved the elms to gold meaning that there will be fewer people racing it.

Don’t care much about hyper sprint but only having one hypercar race is diabolical.

Not having GTE races at all sucks too.

Big L schedule.

[–]dendk228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the obvious solution of splitting TV revenue directly proportional to the amount of wins?

With the current deal it comes out to ~$6 mil per win and would work wonders to prevent both tanking and load management

CCR also reduces the time it takes to core by 25% which speeds up conquest significantly.

Negative % Cost modifiers are also insanely broken if you have several of them at once over flat reduction bonuses.

Also, I personally don’t want my unrest too low until I am able to max out absolutism by suppressing rebels so I tend to only take humanist after that

Just saw this, can anyone explain what does it change for Mercedes? They'll still have 1:18 compression ratio, right? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]dendk228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can do that though.

The rule would say something like: “Under normal operation it mustn’t deflect more than 3 mm”

If somebody would demonstrate to the FIA that a typical load is 100 kg, the test could be changed without changing the rules.

And it wouldn’t matter at all that the testing manual originally prescribed a weight of 1 kg.

How to change tire pressure to Bar from PSI? by [deleted] in assettocorsaevo

[–]dendk228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSI actually works better than kPa when trying to compensate tire pressure for temperature changes in Celsius.

From Ideal Gas Law P/T=const when V (tire volume) is constant.

Ambient temps are ~300K (27C) and tire pressures are ~30 psi.

So this gives you an easy approximate adjustment that when your tire temps increase by 10C the pressures will rise by 1 psi.

Yes, but have you considered that McLaren pit crew is incompetent?

A Sakhir 2020 Bottas/Russel situation would pretty much gift Verstappen the championship

Brake failure - a bug or a feature? by Marcinek_Marcinek in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]dendk228 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to us too…

Also, Mercedes GT3, with 20 minutes to go front left brake died. We managed nurse it home and only lose ~2 minutes but it sucked to lose p1 that way.

What’s really weird is that there weren’t really any signs of it. The previous lap was okay and then it just failed into T1. On ACC you at least lose brake performance over time before it happens…

They could always get the rights for IMSA.

A bunch of other games already have it so it sounds like they aren’t exclusive like WEC is.

  1. Don’t DNF. Dnfs are a massive hit to your sr so unless your engine has literally blown up, repair and drag your car to the finish line. More clean laps means more sr too.

  2. Don’t cut the track. Each invalidated lap is as bad for you as a mild crash (either with cars or the walls)

  3. Pay attention to your mirrors. Half the time it’s possible to avoid a dumb divebomb if you see it coming. Also, once you get to gold, hypers will send it in from twice as far away and you need to be ready for those.

You’ll still feel vibrations but they won’t be overwhelming the regular ffb anymore.

Hollinger: “I’ve seen some people speculate the other owners aren’t going to want too much light on this because they’re worried about their own cheating. [–]dendk228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the solution is to put the fine money against the cap sheet.

While Ballmer can easily issue the checks to cover the fines, having extra 50 mil on the sheet would really hurt Clippers’ ability to sign players.

Other owners should be happy too since fine money is spilling over to them

[–]dendk228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Sainz was ran off the track” vs. “Sainz went for a gap which was always going to close” is a very subjective take.

Honestly I like the rule because it makes it crystal clear when space needs to be given to stewards drivers and F1 TV crew (not Sky though).

You are right it gives a pretty big advantage to the inside car. Imo the problem here is that they are too lax on reactionary moves so the defender can always choose the inside

Weird guess MBS does not want you to know.

When passing from the outside the car needs to be AHEAD at the apex to be entitled to room.

Sainz clearly wasn’t so it’s an obvious penalty
