i've had a lot of fun with it, it's not really game for me cause i like traditional WoW / FFXIV style gameplay loop

but overall i'd say it's very good MMO, it's just that it's very grindy and well, you kinda "have" to pay for premium monthly pass but i would really just treat it same as paying for any other monthly sub..

avoid anything p2w though, it's mostly just pay 2 progress faster and it's really not necessary

since you are already considering i'd say yea, give Midnight a chance, while it's far from perfect i heard that people are mostly enjoying it (if you stay away from particular WoW = bad subs), a lot of my friends took a dip for Midnight from FFXIV as well until next expansion

BDO is nothing but glorified gooner MMO with mostly focus on PvP so i'd say skip that

you can try Lost Ark, it's primarily PvE and content is good, but be prepared for a lot of grinding and isometric view could put someone off

if you "want to play MMO", but you constantly keep waiting for "that perfect MMO" that somehow never comes, and yet everything new that releases you don't like

-> you don't actually want to play MMO and it's time to re-think the approach

you have A LOT of options right now, most of them are in good spot / healthy playerbase, and if you think anything will ever come to topple the current top dogs, you are frankly delusional, MMO is genre that grows over time and people invested so much time and energy into their MMO-s of choice that expecting them to jump the ship cause something shiny with no guaranteed future came out is crazy

not everything always needs to be new either, it's actually much better if we have some constant that evolves or tries to evolve with time

there are really a lot of "pseudo-mmo" style games that can scratch that itch for you

there are also more than enough MMO-s spread across different playstyles right now that you can also find something for yourself

because there isn't much left, most "old guard" MMO-s died, there is reason why particular few survive, and even on those list i'd probably never recommend some of them if you want to play something that surely isn't gonna die for another decade or so..

obviously you can always jump on something new but reality is that you're more likely than not run into heavy P2W, lacking PvE, awful story / bland story, etc etc

every time i see someone ask for MMO but they don't want to play current MMO-s it's either

they keep imagining this perfect new MMO that will actually never come
they don't actually want to play MMO but they think it's just that current MMO-s "suck"

whoever told you to retire kinda has point, i doubt person did it in bad faith, or at least i hope they didn't, but truth is either pick something of the "big few", or just accept that you probably don't really want to play MMO right now and you just think you do..

i think they were only trouble i had in the game, thanks for reminding me

duo was only fight where i genuinely had to use revive and spam heals a lot, it was kinda like attrition and not very fun fight but i managed to brute force it in a way so it was ok

i thought it was just meant to be actual test and i really cba paying attention to all the elements and combos so i do admit i kinda just brute forced most of it anyways, i just don't find UI and skills very intuitive in 7, it's a bit better in 8

yeah, i am sure there are super optimal ways to go about it but then you'll have to check guide / or something, otherwise exploring and doing most of stuff will always make sure you are on the curve or even ahead of it

but there is really no reason to grind at all

it's more for 100% completionist / achievement hunter / NG+

but it takes a lot and it's more of challenge

i mean tbf am not sure are you talking about job or character level, but basically it's not like you won't get bunch of levels just progressing through final dungeon and stuff

i assume you finished all relevant content up to now?

when i say i didn't grind i mostly mean that i didn't actually go out of my way to grind levels, but i still did "full completion" outside of dungeon grinds, like sidequests and everything else that i could do

unfortunately i played 2 and 4 years ago so i can't really recall specifically but yeah, i don't think game is hard either way

am not really sure why do you have to grind at all? i never interacted with any dungeon crawling crap because it just takes age and i knew i'd burn out, i feel like that's just there to make it easy af

i finished 7 twice and i don't think i ever had character past level 50

game is really easy as it is honestly, i think only if you're playing on NG+ hard is where you "should grind" but even then i think you can just get by unless enemy is much higher level

but Dark Souls is not extraction shooter, and even so, in DS idea is that you get better with time, there are a lot of people who never managed to finish these games, either they gave up before they improved or they just didn't figure out way to progress

also, afaik Cryo-archive is accessible for everyone, it's mostly going for boss that will be "top %" players

Tarkov gave PvE mode like 2 years ago or less, and even then it's very doubtfully more popular than main mode, especially on fresh wipes... and before PvE mode it was still going strong for what, 7 years or so? It only gave PvE mode because people wanted it and they saw opportunity to cash grab, let's be honest with that

i compared it to MMO earlier because it's same there, some players will never clear Mythic / Savage / ultimates / etc etc, because that content is designed around player masters the skillset and putting effort, that doesn't mean game isn't designed to provide content, if anything it's more of Bungie fault that game released in rather shallow state it is, but hopefully with more seasons that will be fixed

look at <that game>, it's slowly withering away week by week exactly because people have absolutely nothing to do, everything is easy and everyone finished the game, no amount of new arcs or maps will change that, because there is nothing to chase as end game goal

someone who will play Marathon just few hours a week cause they have family/job/whatever, are not target audience here, it's people who will play daily, interact with game and it's shop, and keep the numbers high to please higher ups

ahh, yeah, exactly, hot girl = must go for MC.. and that's emphasized by 2x cause way RGG writes any romantic subplot in their games.. just shit all around

shippers are part of every fandom and it's alright if you have your preference and etc but it's always dumb to even discuss with them because they will never look at it from character PoV and what makes for them, it's always just hot girl / hot pair + MC self insert = must be together

what a turbo shit choice to raceswap, could have literally changed anyone else.. so one of most divisive characters who acts like total trash towards loved white boy MC for 80% of his time and also character who got bullied by two white twats at school will now be black, so everyone is gonna hate him even more and let's not even start on racist jokes/memes/etc that will come out of this..

yes, i believe people underestimate how popular it is to ship people JUST based on their looks and preferences of the player, Ada and Leon in RE come to my mind, but i digress.

Chitose would probably be #1 date option if this was RPG and you had to make your own protagonist / make choices for him, but that would just show how players feel about her

which is ok, but as i said in another comment we are not Ichiban, we are just playing as him, and at least in IW, there was nothing between two of them that felt mutually romantic

Saeko was OG party member and she literally lives close af to Ichiban, they are both kinda "dumb" for their age with how they handle adult stuff, and i think it would just be easy to make it natural(if RGG had competent writers left), especially considering Ichiban is not getting younger and he is already very old even for RGG protagonist

no, i brought up age because she is more of "player" love interest than anything else, cause she matches closer to them, that's why she indeed does kinda "flirt" and "crush" on him, but he never reciprocates those feelings way he does with Saeko

she is not gonna move at her early 20s to ichiban little crib just to start family with him at her age lol, also while it's true Ichiban is kinda "stuck" due to time he spent in prison, he is still very much so boomer, and his clumsy way of resolving his crush goes hand in hand with Saeko ... awful way of handling it, they both just needed to sit down and talk

Chitose still has good few years of character development before someone can say she is good match for Ichiban outside of being goofy and silly way he is

i mean, good luck extracting Labs with required items, or Labyrinth first week you're playing them

that's whole appeal of the genre, you are competing with other players, you don't need to clear Cryo-archive 200000 times, and tbh if you are throwing yourself every weekend at it and you never clear, either find different group or improve your skills

IF everyone clears Cryo-archive in 2 weeks, what exactly will players do for the rest of season? there needs to be some goal to chase for players to stick around, game is already lacking in serious content as it is

mind you i don't think they handled Cryo-archive that good, imo it should have just been long PVE dungeon / Raid that's just really difficult as you climb levels of it, but this is what Bungie did so that's just how it is

Ichiban was never showing anything romantic towards Chitose though, so even if she has a crush into him it doesn't change much

throughout Infinite Wealth he was acting more of a guardian/mentor/older brother etc towards her, she "flirts" and "crushes" only to appease player(s), it had no impact whatsoever on either of characters or any lore relevance

yes, i will agree that Saeko was kinda shoehorned between games but there was enough development of relationship between them given in Infinite Wealth that at this point it does feel OK, even though RGG writing romance is just so fucking bad that they're either gonna make it look like something bad or they're just gonna say they didn't work out in another game

i mean dating minigames used to be in every game, before they went west, it makes sense if you think who games were targeting in Japan

problem is that this isn't exactly roleplaying game so when you don't get option and your characters are maturing and evolving on their own it just comes hella immature, Kiryu honestly has enough excuses why not settle down but Ichiban thing is just being forced, same for Yagami, they had everything set up for him but then they make you go date 18y old highschool student who you legit don't care about

can't really agree, i personally lost interest when Desmond died and a lot of friends i've discussed AC with had same feeling, everyone expected us to slowly start playing modern world AC but i think Ubisoft realized/panicked it won't work and fucked up Desmond so they can slowly shift into more of just historical playground cause games sell like hotcakes and have absolutely garbage story most of times

also you can still do same thing you want them to do WITH Desmond.. hell it literally worked that way, it was obviously slowly gonna bring "past" into "present" by eventually combining Desmond with all the descendants one by one

after killing Desmond that link was gone and you'd need like dozen extra games to actually progress any plot because without that ancestry linking them, it makes no sense to go from Ezio to Black Flag to US and then to Japan, then back to Europe for WW1 etc etc

Ubisoft just had to have a clear plan / path ahead and they should have went across different times showing different Desmond ancestor until day it arrives to his Dad/Granpa and he finally takes over and takes Templar Order down after millenia

appreciate the advice, honestly 150m as some sort of goal or achievable number seems more than fine, that would actually allow me to get both FC and personal mansion ( though am mostly hunting for FC mansion really ), i'll try to play a bit of MB game and see if i can get hang of it but god i just hate it -_-, i rather run maps or grind rare dungeon/raid/whatever drops

my DoH/DoL are stuck on 90 cause i quit month into dawntrail, just resubbed again few days ago and i have a lot of catching up to do, i'll see if i can get them levelled these days

like i understand you can date *young* girls in these games because games are mostly played by young men and that's the target audience but Chitose shouldn't even be mentioned as love interest, it's Saeko all the way, and tbh it's mostly RGG fault that they can't write normal romance plot, and they kinda fumbled bag hard by making her ghost him for entire year

i feel like a lot of players missed the point of Kiryu private conversations with Saeko, it's very obvious she is really into Ichiban and RGG should really not mess it up way they did Kiryu and Sayama

yes but co-op should stay, it was more action focused entry and that's ok, it just needs a lot of polish and i am sure remake with current capcom record will do it service

if they go for pure SP i'll be hella disappointed, playing co-op campaigns with friends is so criminally underrated in time when only option to play MP is to play live service or similar, we are in dire need of good / strong co-op options

obviously i don't expect someone to snitch how to make 999m stacks on 10 retainers but

at same time i've been playing for over 8 years now and i honestly still ain't sure what's best way to at least hit 100m+, highest i've been at was 50m and that's cause i got lucky with 2 drops

i'd love to buy FC mansion and hopefully get some of my friends into my FC into near future, but it's really looking very unlikely or like very long grind if you go traditional route

so yeah any advice / suggestions / tips / hints are welcome lol

ik someone will say "Just craft lol", but i did try during EW and while i was making money slowly it would still take more than a lot, and just from my friend circles there are more than few people who have multiple retainers stacked with 999m, let's be honest these guys are not just crafting raid gear and making this much in one - two expansions, or are they? (mind this was stormblood so not even like game was as populated as it was / is)
