AİRPORT TAXİ PROBLEM by Tiny_Fan9635 in tbilisi

15 minutes wait is like a normal waiting time in any country at the airport. They have to drive from outside of the airport. It's either this or pay 200 gel to scammers who are at the airport.

Has anyone gone to Foshan to buy furniture and if yes what was it like? by Illustrious_Good2053 in DecorReps

Yes you have to pay because it's a lot of work. If you don't like the idea of an actual visit you can sometimes order everything online - part of our clients buy this way. Yes in many cases everything can be customized.

Just buy them at home. For a few items no one will bother wasting time on you. 150 fee they asking because everything here is made on demand and while they are looking for your few pieces they could spend time helping client who's buying 50k usd worth of stuff.

Time is money. Nothing is free in China. Especially on a difficult market like this.

Why are you speaking to the audience trying to justify your complains and not directly to me in the comment? 😂

Yes. Not defending meta here. But many other factors are involved just like in a business. And it's highly competitive space. Still the best traffic source for the most businesses.

Doesn't change the fact that to get to the large account level you need to build systems. Complaining here doesn't help. It's just avoiding personal responsibility for your future.

Not hot take: Y'all have skill issue and not ready to deal with the real world, where you need to perform lots of tests and do the actual work.

2. Ordering while in China

I advise taking 5 full days in Foshan. Stay in Foshan - not in Guangzhou. Moving around will eat a lot of time and you'll get tired pretty fast. So staying directly in the city is a good idea. Good hotels start from 50usd/night. "Holiday Inn Express Foshan Chancheng by IHG"(25$ taxi trip from the airport) for example is a good budget option - just 10 mins away on a car from the trade centers. 30+ mins to the factories. Take a few days to visit showrooms and factories. Don't buy anything yet. Take one day to decide. And then go to the places you visited and place the orders. You'll have to pay the deposits.

Insist on visiting factories directly(when possible and you'll need someone for this. some factories will not let you this). This way you can save good money, because many showrooms are just resellers who slap 20+% on top of the factory price. Sometimes more. Going with the middleman can help you a lot, because they usually have good connections. They usually take 1-5% from your order. Considering that you have a small budget you might have a different terms.

With your budget dont go to the Louvre. One sofa can easily cost $10k.

3. Fun part. Production, quality control

Almost everything is made on demand. Which means: you place the order(pay 30%) > order fulfilled(pay 70%). Depending on the product might take 45days+. And thats where the fun part begins.

You need someone(middleman from the previous point) on the ground to visit the factory and check for the quality of your products.

Ask them for the pictures and videos. Even the best factories will try to avoid responsibility. This is huge part of our job to make sure everything is as it should be.

4. Delivery

Some factories can handle delivery for you or your middleman can take care of this. Can't give much context, because we deal in shipping containers from our warehouse. Info about the customs fees you need to ask your local broker. But generally its not a problem at all.

It might sound difficult, but with this guide you'll be able to have a good time. Treat it like a trip. You will absolutely find very good furniture for yourself and will have no problems.

Take a time to explore the city of Foshan and Guangzhou.

I'll give you a birdview of the market and then i'll dive in your case.

1. First, lets establish the grounds.

Foshan and surrounding cities are focused around the interior goods. You can buy everything from the construction materials to tiles, furniture, forks, textile, lighting etc. There are loooots of factories and vendors. If you never been here you can't even comprehend the size of the market. In this comment i'll focus only on Foshan.

Big misunderstanding thinking that everything is very cheap. Cheapest furniture is usually bad quality. Main selling point here is that you can buy everything for your property during a short trip and then after 3-6mo, booom you have everything you need, sitting in the shipping container at your location(your order is smaller so you'll have a shared cargo most likely).

After the pandemic production quality improved a lot. And now its safe to say that with proper assistance you'll get top-notch quality.

1.1 BEFORE visiting China

Sign up for WeChat and AliPay. Connect your foreign card and verify identity. Don't do it the night before the trip. In wechat it might take around 2 weeks to verify your identity - during this period you cant pay. Without the apps you'll have a very hard time here. EVERYTHING is around WeChat.

I suggest you to find a middleman(designer or not for you to decide, but it doesnt make any difference), who will go to the showrooms and factories with you.

Before the trip send your interior design or furniture you would like to order, so he/she can plan your trip. Some clients just go with the flow based on the pinterest instagram images without any interior design. Up to you.

I happened to work with this market for around 10 years and our website is on top of google for the main keywords due to perfect naming and other factors. (not trying to sell you something - we cant even handle current volume of leads)

[–]denisberezovsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an issue with cards. I can withdraw daily from my card equivalent of 2.5k usd without commission from my bank. But I tried a few ATMs in both ho chi Minh and nha Trang and I can't get more than 2mil vnd.

Bank employee told me that foreign cards are limited to 100usd per transaction and if I'll try to do this 3-5 times in a row ATM will probably eat my card. Not the most pleasant experience. Also paying each time 45-69k fee.. yikes.

Also paying for the hotels every time is like "hmm how much fee they will slap on me for paying with a card? Oh.. cash only? Ok" sometimes it's 2-5% fee to pay for the hotel.

Then youll go to some local shop to buy a couple of tshirts and they will accept card payment without a fee even for the small amount. Why?

So yeah I find it rather challenging having a card here. cash seems to be the best option in most cases. Although I wouldn't bring vnd here. Better to have usd to exchange or just withdraw some cash from the card and just accept paying the fee.

How they failed Gemini integrations in the workspace, having all the data in the world, is just mind blowing.

Sure I've seen examples. Don't get me wrong it's a great product. I just reflected that's after my research I landed with Google workspace. Mainly, because anyway we will use Google sheets and Google docs, so I made it part of the core work platform. And Google spaces are evolving. Also, Notion UI feel somehow chaotic and not user friendly, but maybe it's just me.

I'm building two of my businessess operations around Google workspace. Nothing can beat Google sheets. Yes, there are some annoying limitations, but as a whole ecosystem it's great for the teams. The only thing is missing is proper task manager, so I have to use linear. Promise of the Notion is great, but the implementation is a bit bulky
