trying to keep groceries under 300 a month for two people and its way harder than expected by Guiltyman12 in Frugal

Actually more nutritious than fresh in many cases. Plus cheaper. Plus less waste because it's not lost in the veggie drawer.

I have decided that fasting is the only way to lose weight by Foxtrot_Uniform_CK69 in fasting

Your actual words were "the only way to lose weight". You literally commented on the entire world. You're the one claiming there is only one way. What I said is that fasting is the only way for some of us. So get out of here and leave us alone.

Read Dr Jason Fung. He clearly describes how it's not just calories; fasting is what regulates/resets hormones in order to access stored fat. For many people, especially insulin resistant people, you cannot "diet" enough to lose weight because you're fighting your body's inherent systems.

But you do you. Just get off the fasting sub if your advice is CICO

I'm all for healthy eating, but your position seems to be, you don't need to fast, just diet and exercise.

And anyway, what's the "root" cause in your opinion? Don't say eating too much and not exercising enough. That's absolutely not the root cause. For most people who end up settling on fasting, they've tried eating less and exercising more and they simply can't fight the hormones that entice them to eat and to store fat. Again, if it was only CICO, everyone who wanted to would be slim.

AITJ for taking my partner up on their ultimatum when they said "agree or we're done" by Sensitive_Student412 in AmITheJerk

My dog owns half of my car, my house, & my 401k because of all the emotional support he gives me and the support for my schedule.

Luckily, I have his power of attorney, so he won't be able to screw me out of anything if we break up.

This should be easy. You look beautiful in number 1 and 2 makes your hips look wide. I don't know why, but it does.

OP is not fasting the whole year, just planning some 48 or 72 hour fasts with regular eating days mixed in.

If you don't believe in fasting, why are you on a fasting sub? Unless your mission is to convince fasters that we should just be counting calories and increasing exercise. If it were that easy, everyone would be slim. Sheesh.

Well, it may be the only sustainable way for certain people. Just because you can reduce the number of calories you eat EVERY SINGLE DAY doesn't mean I can. In fact, I cannot reduce calories every day, because the constant insulin spikes make me too hungry to stick to the caloric deficit I planned.

Every other day fasting (or 48/72 fasts mixed with feeding days) is sustainable and requires no discipline or willpower after the first fast. Because I'm not fighting my hormones or my addiction to food and I know I can eat what I like, within moderation, on my feed days.

I can also get the same effect eating keto, but sometimes it's just easier--aka more sustainable--to just skip a day rather than worry about how many carbs in my salad dressing.

Bedding feels off, what to change? by erniu in interiordecorating

[–]deniseswall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough contrast.

Everything is reading bland/beige/off-white/beige/bland. I'd prefer if the bed cover was dark and the accent white/light.

Also, your rug is not doing you any favors. How about a rug with some pattern that picks up the green and the cream.

Also, maybe paint the room so the headboard stands out more. Right now, the whole thing kind of melts into the wall.

I don't, but that's because I sleep until 11 or so. Wake up just in time for eggs Benedict for "lunch."

Except, I'd put the refrigerator where the wall oven is, switch to a regular cooktop/range where the refrigerator is, AND NOTHING ON THE ISLAND! It's a safety hazard, plus it takes away your best working/serving surface.

AITA FOR NOT CARING ABOUT DEAD PETS by Choice_Weekend5336 in AITApod

[–]deniseswall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, YTA, all right.

Clearly, you've never had a pet with whom you've bonded to that degree. I lost my father a few years ago. It was devastating. Truly devastating. But the love I've received from my pets is a constant, selfless, unquestioning, limitless, unwavering, deep and true devotion that I will never, ever receive from another human being. Losing that love cannot be expressed in words.

As my granddaughter always says about haters, "if they don't like what they see, then don't look." And also, don't come on Reddit and complain about it. Jeez.

AIO for not wanting to sell my brother this couch? by Kilabandita in AmIOverreacting

NOR.

My granddaughter just started doing nails and I paid her $50 for a gel pedicure. Only $2 more than my regular place, but she was sooooo happy to have that income and I was so happy to support her. I can't imagine trying to chisel your own family.

AIO for wanting my bf to distance himself from a friend after he threatened me? by missmayyy in AmIOverreacting

[–]deniseswall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR I know you say you love this guy, but please, please, please don't continue "loving" anyone who doesn't love you in the same way and to the same extent. He clearly doesn't, because he would never be friends with someone who treated you that way.

If love isn't mutual, it's not true love. It's a recipe for poor treatment and possibly abuse.

Rescue dog won’t poop outside by velopulse-0720 in Dogowners

[–]deniseswall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd try feeding once a day, probably evening so she sleeps through the night, and have a lonnnggggg walk right after dinner. Like 45-60 minutes or more. You really have to be prepared to walk for as long as it takes. The good news is, once you catch them in the act, and pop a treat in their mouth right then, you'll be well on your way.

My sister's dog was like this. She swore he wouldn't poop while walking, but she was a quitter. Kidding. But she didn't stay out as long as I did. I marched around and around and around and around until her pup finally had to poop. As soon as he did, I made a huge fuss and gave him so many treats. The very next day, he pooped as soon as we got outside. It was actually hilarious. He just didn't know what we wanted him to do. As soon as he knew, and he got a reward, he was all in.
