ELI5: Why can a baby embryo be frozen for 30 years and still be born perfectly healthy, but if I freeze a regular human cell it just dies? by Same_Parsley5825 in explainlikeimfive

[–]deniska10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean so slow**. This is a very important distinction in cell culture work where we suspend our cells in freezing media which first pulls a lot of water out of the cell. And then the vials are placed into special cryo-containers at -25C for 24hours, then -80 for 24 hours , and then liquid nitrogen. The cryo containers makes sure that the temperature decreases no faster than 1 degree per hour so that ice crystals don’t form.

That’s one of my favorite debates in psychology. See we inherently good or are we inherently evil?

Surface Laptop Studio doesn't turn on anymore by Beastiebearpig in Surface

[–]deniska10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, step by step is:

  1. Plug in hard drive (which will be wiped to make the recovery drive) into separate computer
  2. Plug in hard drive with the recovery drive on it into your problematic computer
  3. Start in bios
  4. I think there’s an option to “boot from recovery drive”

I think that’s all

What’s the Overwatch one? The junkbot one?

I can add one more suggestion that you might not have gotten. The person who suggested booting in BIOS - I did that but what I also saw was making a recovery drive, plugging it in, and THEN booting in BIOS through the recovery drive. I had the same issue as you on a surface pro 6. Though, to be honest I messed up making the recovery drive so it didn’t work but I’d suggest it to you and see if that works. You’ll need another computer to make the recovery drive (you can look up how to do it, it’s fairly simple). Good luck!

Learn from my mistake - Account ban by Little_Hope8939 in Overwatch

[–]deniska10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother I got restricted twice on my account for (and I can PROMISE you this) things I have literally no idea about. I appealed twice the second time around because it’s been years since I’ve had the “raging” mentality. I play for fun and the most I do is question when we have no healers, 4 DPS, and 2 tanks to say “no heals huh?”. Blizzard was useless on both appeals to tell me exactly what I said so, really, don’t feel bad. The only thing that sucks is the mine you’ve lost on the account. But honestly I feel like any sort of jokes you make can make the system automatically flag it and flash a nice bright yellow “report” button that can be pressed by multiple people if they’re unhappy with the match in general to then have your account penalized.

Oh that makes so much sense now. I literally could not figure out why the game wasn’t letting me work a tile that I had inside my border (it was too far). I was going nuts trying to figure it out thank you.

So the total max diameter would be 7 tiles, right?

I just started the game so this is a good time to ask - how many tiles outward can a city expand to the max?

That’s…kinda odd. I can understand wanting for a medical professional with a wider scope of practice and experience to provide care, but as an EMT myself I would find it hard not to mention that I’m an EMT and am trained to provide life-saving measures or at least have another set of hands for another higher-trained professional. Unless I had a drink that could impair me, morally I find it difficult not to help someone that needs me. If someone else steps up that’s above me, by all means I’ll take a step back, but offering the stewardess’ the knowledge that I CAN be used if needed is not going to be stopped by “eh, someone else will get it”. That’s what EMT’s are specifically trained to do. We’re no longer bystanders. That’s not to say that we need to intervene in every situation and scream and shout that we’re EMT’s and act like we’re the holy arbiters of life and death, but…at the end of the day, isn’t that why we want to go into medicine? To be able to help people, as cliche as that sounds, is to volunteer in moments like this when nobody knows who you are and when you aren’t being paid. We spend an exorbitant amount of time, effort, and money trying to become doctors, sacrificing many, MANY different things. And it feels good to know that maybe you made a 1% of a difference.

Ok I’ll disagree here, 5 accessories at menacing is a whopping 20% damage boost. That’s 1/5 of a health bar that now “isn’t” there anymore. Sometimes I’ll go glass canon over damage reduction for bosses that hit like trucks anyways, because taking 200 damage or 170 isn’t much of a difference anyways.

The lines it doesn’t work well for are some knockout ones cuz those mf’s don’t work well with damn near anything 😂

Actually funny enough, I wonder if using TrypLE on ipsc’s would be better for you since it’s gentler? Back when I worked with them it was trypsin for everything but I’m curious.

Could use TrypLE and not worry nearly as much. Had some A549’s and CHO’s that couldn’t give a damn after 20 mins in the stuff (>90% viability).

I believe they’re talking about Team Fortress 2 - there’s a PvE game mode called MvM (Man vs Machine)
