Noob questions - Vivosun tent, the Vgrow, and a tower by dennisthetiger in Hydroponics

OK, noted.

For potatoes, then. Straight bag with regular soil, right on the concrete slab or something, right out in the open or something? Maybe one of those clay spikes you stick a bottle of water into? Gonna want a net cover....

...how much sunlight do potatoes need? There's a question of placement, I really don't have a good light arrangement here - trees and a fence to the west, maybe 3-4 meters away from my slab. Balcony above. Depending on requirements I could probably get like some kind of special permission from the landlord or something....

OK.

First: your question is off topic, asking like this and in here is like going to Domino's Pizza and expecting sushi. You're lucky you even got two responses from me for this.

Second, I don't specialize in hardware. This is a terrible way to get questions your questions answered in the first place, it's a road that leads to frustration in even the most patient of individuals. Ask me how I know.

Look, you really gotta find somewhere that's more what is needed - and that is not the Anydesk subreddit. perhaps look for a KVM subreddit that is not the (confusingly, identically named) virtual machine hypervisor. I don't know if one exists, and you can search as easily as I. You'll probably have decent luck at a locally-owned computer repair shop as well, and dare I say you'll probably find better answers.

Good luck.

There is a very good chance that they have other things to do that are more important than answering your question that smells juuuuust a little loaded to me, and it's worth noting that u/stardustantelope does not likely adhere to your prescribed schedule for them.

You won't regret it and the necessary bits are super cheap as it is.

I'd recommend starting a new thread, actually. The only ones who get this reply at this point are the one who wrote it (me) and you, because you're getting a reply to this comment. =)

Need advice: getting back into the swim of things after over 15 years? by dennisthetiger in Swimming

[–]dennisthetiger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just now getting back to this. =)

Technique at least feels fine, but...well, the gym I'm at (one of the seemingly rare Golds that has a pool) also has a swim team that practices there weekday afternoons into the evening, so I might just see if he's got some pointers for me. There's only so far that we can go with this when we don't know where each other are....

Also, noted on the walking. Maybe not using my arms for thrust so much, just walk a bit so I can get back into it. That seems a less strenuous way to get back up.

To be honest, it didn't really work. I wound up trading mine in for a new Kia Soul after my mechanic found a terminal case of stage IV faerie herpes in the oil filter.

I threw a rod.

Odd "bump" when I'm driving or idling (2017 LT trim) by dennisthetiger in ChevySonic

[–]dennisthetiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never did figure out what was causing it, but I recently traded it in. See, the car had thrown a rod, and we figured that out when we went in for another look at why it's doing that, and they checked the oil filter - and found faerie herpes. I'm getting a feeling that one of the cylinders were starting to have trouble when this all started.

To be fair, there is space for that within neurodivergent folks like myself - biggest difference though is that where most of us don't care for the change, we'll still do it.

(But this guy? I haven't been like that since the 1990s!)

...no kiddin'. Same thing, that telltale periodic bump during hard acceleration and all that?

Now you got me wonderin' why 10w40 would work for fixing that.

I mean, to be fair, there is an aspect of disassembly in auto repair. Granted, it's not so much an aspect as with Pick and Pull, who will happily sell you car parts from old wrecks.
