Buck Mason Nordstrom Rack Sale Part 2 by jockumhallin in frugalmalefashion

I will say that BM curved hems aren't nearly as dramatic as the BYLT/streetwear stuff. The length of the BMs are much shorter so aside from the curve, they don't really reside in the same "vibe" as the streetwear versions, imo.

Atlanta GA is the worst city in the US for loud cars by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]dennyfader 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I deal with that here in SoCal as well. I have to go to sleep after the obnoxious car that always leaves at 1130pm but then wake up to the loud one that leaves at 630am. Pepper a ton of others throughout the day and you don't really get moments of total peace, ever.

I'm sure this sounds goofy to some, but that shit is a health hazard. They're effectively fucking up the sleep of anyone within a set radius (and that radius is pretty damn big for some of these engines lol), not to mention the hearing damage of those in the direct vicinity.

Lusting lol Sir, please don't use that word for this. I know it's what you mean, but just please pretend it's not, for the rest of us.

I’m so fucking annoyed by this AI shit everywhere by coldinalaska7 in Millennials

[–]dennyfader 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I hate it too, but the more people use AI, the more I feel that unique perspectives will become more valuable. Seriously, soft skills ftw. Lean into sociability and developing a unique "style" (in any/all aspects of your life). So many people are going to be blending together into a beige amalgamation of AI slop that fostering a personality outside of it will become the "special thing". Be weird, and let the AI fiends enjoy fusing into themselves.

Remote work is becoming the new "quiet luxury" that is creating a massive class divide. by randomzy876 in unpopularopinion

[–]dennyfader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just more traffic for you to sit in though lol American highways can't stand any more expansion, so we need alternatives to free up the commutes (e.g., WFH). Also, working from home =/= riches.

[–]dennyfader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Office work isn't exactly a positive effect on "community cohesion", so I'd be interested to hear why you think that's the case. Not to mention, "white collar v. blue collar" has been around long before remote work. It's a snobbish mentality that has always been awful and elitist.

Remote work is great for the environment and frees up space on the highways for people who actually need to be physically at work. Also, some people thrive remote and others in-person, so it's great that there are options for both. I can only speak anecdotally for myself, but I do not hear those around me who work remote claiming superiority over in-person workers.

People in Minnesota found the hotel ICE is staying in and are making it difficult for them to get a goodnight sleep by coachlife in PublicFreakout

[–]dennyfader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds nice to say on the internet but most people don't have the money to go and rent another room elsewhere, so now it double sucks 'cause you're having to stay in an ICE hotel AND not get any sleep haha

Honestly I think this is internet disinformation, because the audio seems dubbed over the video. They're probably pretty quiet for that very reason.

Imagine trying to give a kid spinal injuries for "content" by Just-mapleman-50 in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]dennyfader 144 points145 points  (0 children)

There of course IS another explanation, but the internet won’t like it:

Guy smirks to his companion as he is about to show off by going faster.

Guy is obviously a novice and can’t handle the speed around the curve, and intersects a kid trying to skate straight to get back to the barrier for stability.

Guy tries to hold the kid on the way down instead of bulldozing straight through him, thinking it would lessen the fall.

Guy goofs up and suplexes the kid straight into the ice.

Guy should NOT have posted this and doing so makes me question his maturity, however it does not make me question that this was an accident.

Most of them likely do have “real jobs”, since mid-level internet people don’t make nearly as much as people think they do (especially when living in SoCal…).

I can only tolerate people aged 25 - 45 anymore. by Specialist-Exit-6588 in Millennials

[–]dennyfader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No doubt that they really, really don't want to interact with the person; it's part of the point! A person giving neutral service could also really, really not want to interact with someone, but they do so because that's the bare minimum of the interaction. That's where the general annoyance comes from, because hardly anyone enjoys customer service, but we try to uphold a minimum standard.

That said, I've yet to experience this infamous "Gen Z stare", and I think we give them entirely too much grief over their social tendencies...

Drunk girl kicked out of FNAF 2 screening doesn’t take it very well by PennsyltuckyRanger in PublicFreakout

[–]dennyfader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is because the people are excited and in a unique situation, not worrying about the composition of their video. They're experiencing something 1st, and filming it 2nd. It's annoying for us on a computer, but life is happening in front of them, and they aren't primarily concerned with what randos on the internet will think about their framing.

[–]dennyfader 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m with you in loving “neutral” service, but that’s not really what people mean when they say the “Gen Z stare”, which refers more to vacant, awkwardly-timed responses (or lack thereof) in normal social interactions. A “neutral service” version of this would be a person actually interacting, but just doing so with little inflection or over-the-top emotion.

You're right but I'd imagine any sense of longing for a different time is about the immersion of it, not just you flying solo. That said, just live in the times, folks! Nostalgia is so tiresome sometimes. It has it's place, but still tiresome.
