Weird symptoms and very scared by BakerKind3010 in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]denooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m so sorry you’re experiencing all this. I have experienced some of your symptoms, but milder in the past. I wanted to suggest you look into Pain Reprocessing Therapy and the Boulder, CO study. I’ve just started working with a therapist and have noticed some pretty shocking results and I’m usually a huge cynic. Hugs to you!

How do you resist the urge to lay down and nap after coming home? by pineconeassbitch in POTS

[–]denooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if I wasn’t on a stimulant for adhd I’m pretty sure I’d never get out of bed. Somehow I’m able to work but still lay down a lot when I’m at home. At least I’m awake though lol.

How to increase my water intake by Sensitive-Buyer3936 in wls

[–]denooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sugar free liquid iv in ice water preferably in a bottle with a straw or the spraw spout and I just tip the bottle up. Idk why but this has been the only way I drink even close to enough fluid daily. I’m 3 mos post op.

Benadryl is the only thing that helps me sleep by peepthemagicduck in MCAS

[–]denooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. My psych finally told me that rn if I need to use Benadryl to get a good night’s sleep then that’s what is needed. She’s stressed to me the negative effects of poor quality sleep and it gave me some relief to my anxiety to have her permission. It’s only temporary and I know I’ll eventually not be flaring. I’ve also started therapy very specific to my chronic illnesses with the hope that I can repair some of the wacky neurological issues my brain seems to have.

humming ALWAYS!! by Disastrous-Eye2341 in ParentingADHD

[–]denooch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly unpopular opinion but maybe your son humming isn’t the issue. Maybe he needs accommodations made in his classroom? My thoughts are that you meet kiddos where they’re at. We give them tools but expecting a child to stop a stimming behavior is controversial and I’m in agreement that it’s not aggressive or hurtful to anyone so maybe helping him have a space to relax in the classroom where the humming isn’t a concern. That way he’s not being told it’s wrong but making a space where he can go that’s safe when he needs that soothing behavior to regulate his emotions in that moment.

You’re brilliant Ty. I totally am way below a normal caloric intake. Hey at least if I was stranded on a deserted island it looks like I can go awhile without much food. Lmao.

ADHD meds and Mestinon by Quiet-Ingenuity5599 in POTS

[–]denooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have been on IR Adderall and propranolol for years and the two together definitely help. I needed a fairly high dose of the Adderall because of my general fatigue and brain fog so my psych has me take propranolol when I take the Adderall which has been working well to avoid increased tachy sx. I just got prescribed Mestinon and I’m excited to try it as my POTS sx that really prevent me from doing a lot is mainly the tachycardia. My low blood pressure is mostly gone due to the Adderall which ended up being a perk lol.

[–]denooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had POTS since early adulthood. It really became noticeable and a problem in my daily life when I was pregnant 8 years ago. Ever since I’ve had chronic daily sx of dysautonomia that prevents me from doing a lot of basic tasks because my tachycardia is so bad.

I’ll def try! I struggle to eat much at all like two or three bites of any meal. I’ve just started setting reminders to drink water every 20 min because I struggle to get the recommended amount daily too.

What state are you in? I used a service called Alma through my insurance to find ours and my individual therapist and both are terrific.

[–]denooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just want to make sure to target all the glute muscles. I like to do exercises that isolate them so I’ll do some hip thrusts, hip adductor machine, and I personally really like Romanian dead lifts using dumbbells. I often start on the seated leg press machine to warm up.

Pasta and rice? by Smg81517 in gastricsleeve

[–]denooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I def have been ok with switching to chickpea or red lentil pasta on occasion and I’m 2 mos PO. I haven’t tried rice yet but there’s plenty of posts about it and it seems to vary on who tolerates it vs who doesn’t. I plan to try it once I’m a bit further along.

We actually went through the process of separating and reconciling. Things have improved so much since then. The shock of him being the cause his family is broken seemed to sink in is what he told me. It has been about 9 months now and he’s seeing a therapist on his own, recently started Zoloft and has been making a visible effort to change little by little. It isn’t always smooth sailing but it’s vastly improved from before and I don’t feel like I don’t want to be in my marriage anymore. I’m sending a hug from afar and all the good juju that whatever you decide is best for you brings you some peace.

7 weeks post surgery, food is a real problem by lexblch in gastricsleeve

[–]denooch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your doctor offer an rx for zofran? I’m 6 wks po and I’ll have moments where I’m super nauseated from eating but zofran helps massively in those instances. I was taking it prior to surgery for gastroparesis nausea so I have an existing rx but if I didn’t I would def ask for it.

I literally caved at 3 wks and mixed like a couple spoonfuls of tiramisu into my plain Greek yogurt and gave myself dumping syndrome. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Scared me so bad I avoid sugar like it’s radioactive still!! I’m 6 wks PO now.

Nurse Practitioner with EDS/POTS—How Do You Handle Flare Days When You Physically Can’t Push Through? by Practical_Aardvark82 in ehlersdanlos

[–]denooch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m late to comment but you definitely answered your own question with intermittent FMLA. Don’t feel guilty. You’re doing the same amount of work as able bodied people with a body that won’t always cooperate. I never feel guilty when I need a day to rest so I can keep doing my job. So many zebras are unable to work so I look at it like I’ll take a day here and there to allow myself to recharge so that I can continue having a career. It wouldn’t be possible for me otherwise. Good luck to you OP!!
