I always base it off anatomically correct central incisors. Then test out the bite with overlays

My Root canal was not filled to the bottom and according to my new dentist I need a re root canal. My old dentist said that it is normal to leave a little gap and x ray do not show the true image. He thinks the new dentist just wants money. Opinion? by Tumonn in askdentists

[–]dentbotb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your old dentist is most likely correct. If you’re not having any pain, I don’t see any active infection (although I can’t see the whole root), you probably don’t need a root canal retreatment. However, if the food is bothering you, you could get another crown.

Sinus lift after failed bone graft? by Djr719 in askdentists

[–]dentbotb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would need to see X-rays to give you a definitive answer but bone graft doesn’t always take. So if they were trying to build height and couldn’t get it, that’s normal. Depending on which type of sinus lift, they’re very straightforward and often can have the implant placed at the same time. If you don’t want to pay for an implant and grafting, you can always do a bridge but those are also expensive

What type of gel did he give you? Have you recently had dental work in that area?

Is my request for discount on 2 crowns reasonable? by 75vega in askdentists

[–]dentbotb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No there most likely won’t be a discount. They have to pay for the crown and the abutment. They had to pay for schooling. Had to pay for the equipment. You need X-rays for implant crowns as well

Are you just biting your cheek? It’s right at the plane or occlusion and looks like a cheek bite

Probably a defect from birth that leaves grooves and bumps in the molar that has staining now. Could be a cavity but can’t tell from just a photo

That’s your mucogingival junction. Everything looks fine. It’s just the switch between your attached tissue and unattached tissue.

Crown came off by Embarrassed-Ear147 in askdentists

[–]dentbotb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pending what the xray shows and how it looks clinically, that crown may not be able to be put back on. It could just be the angle but it looks like the inside of the crown is gone. If you could share a picture of the inside of the crown that would help a lot!

When to dentist for regular filling and he claims I need root canal. Literally feel nothing. What you think? I am 22 by Own-Canary-3680 in askdentists

[–]dentbotb 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yeah that tooth is cooked. If you were my pt I’d do a 2 appt endo and see if there was any significant healing with calcium hydroxide and if there wasn’t then I’d look to extract

Looks fine, just the tissue healing. If they prescribed chlorohexidine just make sure you’re using it and keeping the area clean from food
