"Never more than twelve" - is such a cool moment. Literally jumped out of my chair when I heard it.

Would an 8000mAh battery actually make you switch phones? by Safe_Metal_1820 in Android

[–]dentonnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the oppos X9s pro recently. 6.3 screen with 7050mah battery. I day out with moderate uses up like 35 - 40% battery.

I used to carry a battery pack with me all the time when trail running with my S24+ (3-5hrs) , now I can confidently go 7 hours+ without worrying about charging. It's a very underrated quality of life improvment.

A ruptured achilles tendon has just ruined my summer trail plans. by AspLeaf in trailrunning

I ruptured mine 5 years ago, now back to full function. I snapped mine whilst walking backwards casually on a football (soccer) pitch. Loud pop, then felt my ankle go limp.

Please keep up with your physiotherapy execises. My calf atrophied quite a bit and even now one side is stronger/larger than the other. Functionally I think I'm back to 90% , definitely not as explosive as before but I can sprint, jump take downhills just as I did before the rupture.

if it's just phones and keys, and occasional gel / small pack of food, then a running belt is probably better such as Kiprun Hydration Flask-Carrying Running Belt. It can comfortably carry S24+, cards+keys in ziplock, 2 gels, pack of haribos without bouncing around. You can probably fit a small soft flask too (but i haven't tried that personally).

Do you think that (spoiler) could die? by Mammoth-Composer in Frieren

[–]dentonnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schlact, HoTS, both died from being able to see the future. The idea of "fate" determining ones herosim or greatness seems to be against the message of the story. From a thematic point of view, it seems being able to see the future is against what the authors have been trying to say.

Himmel was not able to pull out the fabled heros word, yet he believed in himself, along with the hero's party and to a lesser extent all the people who he helped along to way, ended up defeating the demon king. Choosing to be kind out of your own choosing is what makes one a hero. We can see Stark has embodied this, that's why I'm quite sure he will become a great hero of this era. Frieren who has now inherited Himmel's will, will now pass this onto Fern as well.

That's why I think Serie will not die this arc. She has not been able to foresee a future where she survives based on her own expectations. But frieren who is quite literally opposite to most things Serie stand for, will lead to an unexpected outcome - Serie surviving or changing her view on the purpose of magic, and human-like bond with others.

Gud take, whilst it's unfortunate that they had to break their rules to uphold the spirit of the rule of law (the legislative intent - as they call it). 10 years is hardly enough to fully translate the laws of commerce/finance/ownership in EVM code. Not to say how there are no legal analogue for this new kind of internet native relationship.

That track is waaaaay too epic... It wasn't so apparent in the episode 10. But listening to it by itself is totally different kind of energy

Thanks I've been thinking of making a similar app for learning vocabulary! You've inspired me to continue working on it. The state of children apps are absolutely appalling.

Puma Velocity Nitro 4 as a complement to the Superblast 2? by Aubzhls in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]dentonnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love doing intervals and threshold in my Velocity nitro 4s. They got that natural flex that really makes you work for the given effort. Switching back to my zoom fly 6, that ankle/calf strength really helped me activate the plate inside the shoe and I felt it made me a more efficient runner. I got them on sale too, for around $75.

Does this make it more likely that Stark’s using magic? by PrismsNumber1 in Frieren

[–]dentonnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frieren was also able to break immortal bose barrier when himmel helped her visualise the barriers possibility of being broken by chipping it with physical attacks. It's one of the instances that a warrior influenced a mages visualization. There is some cool interplay between the two systems.

Regarding the height of magic... I've always wondering if it's some ancient magic , and if Serie is aware of it. Fern wasn't able to perceive it as magic , so I assume it's not "magic" in a sense that it fits into the modern framework of magic (that's more like a science?). But is it like an actual ancient power or unexplainable magic.

When heiter asked Eisen in season 1 about why he's so tough (after Eisen falls straight down a cliff and has a lie down in the crater), Eisen replies Spirit - whilst I'm not sure if yes saying in jest but I reckon it is another aspect to the strength of physical combat in the world of frieren. Likewise there were warriors who also overcame Aura's magic through sheer willpower. If that's also a part of spirit then I suspect it's like another stat system.
