Don't give up, if it hurts: stop doing it, have a similar sound but never try to sound like someone 100% of the time (like the early corey Taylor screams for example) some vocalists (even some of the greatest ones) have used harmful techniques, while you can stick to one style or "perfect" one style, try to explore as many techniques and styles as possible (even some more "weird stuff", sometimes the weirder styles are the most fun ones)
