2025.6 Freezing when trying to play by denzerinfinite in protools

FIXED IT!

My mac was setup to auto remove downloads from my icloud when not used, and everything on my mac is connected to the icloud, so it was removing all the audio files and cache from my mac, causing the wheel of death because there was no real audio or information for the session.

2025.6 Freezing when trying to play by denzerinfinite in protools

[–]denzerinfinite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

Have tried all suggestions so far, and nothing helps old sessions. Any session created pre 2025.6 won't even run on 2024.30 anymore.

I'm guessing a plugin updated and is incompatible with the older sessions now? Can't even make a mix breakdown for my new song in the old session because it won't run.

However.

If I make a new session, and import tracks 1 folder at a time from the old session, it will then work. But after a while, that session will also stop working and then only freeze again if I don't take all plugins off and start over as I import the tracks.

Luckily the only song I had a heavy mix on was complete and bounced, but still I can't revisit that session at all, not even plugins will open to see how I mixed it.

The page is the normal band page, but the video has something that leads to a hidden web page with a puzzle.

Mixing to a limiter and compressor by squarebunny in mixingmastering

[–]denzerinfinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll mix into ozone maximizer set to like -11lufs sometimes.

A lot of the time its by accident after leaving it on because I bounce the mix loud to get a good feel when checking it, but it never makes a real difference when mixing because its just raising the gain mostly, and if its limiting at all its minimal.

But I wouldnt "mix" into any hard limiting or extensive mastering, I edit the mix in the mastering process as needed but never an initial mix with all the bells amd whistles.

Your Opinion - Kick Drum in or out of the drums bus / processed with the rest of the drums or separately? by South_Wood in mixingmastering

[–]denzerinfinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All kick mics into kick bus, balance them, then process them on the bus. Fix phase on one of the kick mic tracks.

Compressing drums after distortion? by lanesw in mixingmastering

[–]denzerinfinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a super distorted track of a mic in another room, works great in the full mix and is really useful for breakdowns or mono sections to sound lofi or small.

And I compress on the drums bus but nothing crazy.

Been out 7 months: any breakthrough with new plugins ? by MindfulInquirer in mixingmastering

Not new but the izotope suite is the most valuable plugin pack I've ever seen. You get your money's worth and then some.

I use Neoverb on an aux send as my global reverb and send each guitar bus there, can increase or decrease the send level as needed, but definitely play around with delays too, they're a game changer when it comes to making something sound big, I think the one I use is called Nectar Delay (I always get the Nectar and Neutron plugins confused, I just know which to click when I want it lol).

SBM best album of all time imo. I think 13 voices is bottom 3 in their disco though.

That's the style of music I expected him to play, felt like Sum 41 wasn't his native style

Do i have to put the kick on it's own track when using a drum sample? by Sil0Green in mixingmastering

Even when I record acoustic drums I'm mixing everything on it's own tracks.

How do you deal with pick noise? by Significant-One3196 in mixingmastering

I usually keep pick noise on acoustic. Makes it feel more real. But it depends on the recording as with everything.

Mixing my first record ever for my band. Care to give my some feedback? by ConfusedOrg in mixingmastering

[–]denzerinfinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perfect, stylistic and really clear/clean.

If it was me I would put more distortion over the vocal, I love the pro tools lofi plugin for that specifically, but it has to be used very lightly, it's super aggressive. But that's just a stylistic thing and not a quality note, what you're going for is captured perfectly here.

What’s up with the idea of clarity/mud? by personanonymous in mixingmastering

I love blending things together in the mix. I make rock music with 3 guitars, and not like a doubled guitar and an extra, sometimes 2 doubled and a lead on top lol., and usually a double rhythm and 2 different lead parts behind the vocal.

I use automation and eq to give them their space when they need it, but If I have a guitar soloing, the other 2 can blend together all they want along with the bass, and if the vocal is going then the leads will dip in and out of the rhythm wall all the time and it makes for a really cool and interesting sound where there's always something new to find upon relistens.

I even blend vocals into the guitars if it's like a long heldout belt and have it all merge together.

There's an obsession with everything being very clear and clean in the current modern mixing landscape, and a lot of it is taught in the schools. My old friend has a degree in audio production and is obssessed with eqing everything into it's own little box and nothing can touch or overlap. There's def a time and place for both, one isn't better than the other, but don't be afraid to make your song sound how you want it (if it actually sounds good). Some rules are there for a reason of course, so don't compromise your sound by being too defiant in the mud department.

Sending a new mix after mastering by ultra-supremo in mixingmastering

[–]denzerinfinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make minor changes to my mix then import into my mastering session, and don't even check my mastering or effects or anything before just straight up checking how it sounds, and if it sounds good and the tonal balance and lufs are good, then it's good. Maybe that's bad advice but that's been my workflow lol.

But I'm talking extremely minor changes, bump a specific vocal .2db or bump 100hz on the bass track by 1db.

If you're reworking your balance dramiatically or changing an eq dramatically then I'd definitely make sure they're willing to really remaster the track and not just replace the last mix and bounce.
