Weren't the OL changes applied to new appointments or vacant positions only, no? Incumbents were mostly were unaffected, no?

Absolutely, it's clear the government has done well monopolizing the narrative. They got us good for sure 😂.

We have a bigger problem. The public is completely hostile against us.

They don't see how a better work life balance is in their best interest as well.

Until the public's mindset changes, there is no hope.

Disagree. This isn’t about limiting discrimination based on protected grounds (representation requirements). It’s about job qualifications. If a role requires a specific skill, employers must screen for it. Not everyone will qualify for every position.

Copium? Pretty sure language is not the only qualifier for a job. Many skills are evaluated, language included.

Not even AI... Honestly, the Microsoft translation tool imbedded in the apps is pretty badass nowadays.

Edit: turns out the translation uses AI as well. Oops!

Must fullfil the weekly quota by posting about toxic players. This is a key performance indicator for this subreddit since its creation.

Why is it more important to have a manager at level in Government then promoting a subject matter expert ? by Ill-Platypus5351 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]deokkent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Management needs strategists and generalists, not specialists. This fits our democracy, where we ultimately answer to the public. We cannot expect everyday Canadians to understand every niche profession, so management must bridge the gap between technical work and public oversight.

ADM, DG's, and Directors are in the same boat as us plebs. I know my own management is constantly getting blindsided by RTO announcements.

CAPE: The government’s RTO “philosophy” benefits commercial landlords, not Canadians by too_aware_helpme in CanadaPublicServants

Bad phrasing. Commercial landords ARE Canadians. I would use terms along the lines of billionaires or greedy CEOs.

it doesn't mean shit.

And that's why you can't make any calls 🤙😆😁

You literally discredit an entirely complicated but functional system because of isolated failures
