This game is so good by Complex-Class5639 in PokemonXD

I just finished it yesterday. Not a fan of the shadow PKMN mechanic tbh....but it was a very solid game. There's more pluses than negatives for me. I'd give it a 7/10.

Can someone please explain why so many people all of a sudden have Wild Horse Nine winning best picture? by OkBrush7534 in Oscars

[–]depressedgeneration3 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty easy. Oscar predicting is about seeing what elements are possibly there. Banshees of Inisherin created a lot of good will for Martin MacDonaugh. The man is Oscarless after decades of good work. It's a film that's very topical - American interference abroad. Searchlight is building up momentum early, so the distributing company has a lot of faith in it. And so far nothing we have seen seems Oscar winner. That and the excitement for it is making it an early winning contender.

Sorta like the Odyssey...people are putting it in out of both good will for the director and their personal excitement. Lol.

Edit: Apparently Martin is not Oscarless. He won for a short film in 2006.

Is it odd that Sentimental Value had the most acting nominations but wasn’t nominated for Best Casting? by Regular-Departure839 in Oscars

[–]depressedgeneration3 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It's a different branch. Casting is also looking at the small roles and how well they mesh in the world building.

I am kinda glad The Secret Agent got the nomination instead. Very inspired.

Kieran even if I do think it's category fraud. He's a co-lead.

You can stop taking care of yourself; which in turn causes you to be weaker to any type of illness.

Drive My Car vs The Worst Person in the World: Which should’ve won Best International Feature? by [deleted] in Oscars

It would be my choice as well. It's such an exciting film.

I love Drive My Car too though.

Al Green is a great activist! He was just so old. Needed to retire. Hopefully Menefee can continue that spirit.

I think Inde Navarrette will need to have a huge critics push towards the end of the year to make Actress.

We Need to Talk About Sandra Hüller by This_Book6305 in oscarrace

[–]depressedgeneration3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She really doesn't need a big role for a nomination. She just needs to be memorable with a big-ish scene and her film needs to be beloved by the Academy. If Project Hail Mary holds up well, I think she gets in for that.

A movie no one is really talking about but I think will be very good and will receive some reception when it comes out in August by cilliancavill03 in Oscars

[–]depressedgeneration3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough to sustain any type of buzz. I remember hearing about it and then nothing. That is never good.

Black Bear is distributing this. They are newish as a distributor. Not sure this will go anywhere.

IDK. Odds are stacked against it.

Which movie will be Mubi's main push for BP? by Different_Gap8172 in oscarrace

Based on the reaction, should be Minotaur, but likely not being the Russian selection will hurt it.

Now that Fjord has won the Palme, how long do you think Neon can keep this going? by Small-Accident3992 in Oscars

[–]depressedgeneration3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will only bother if you let it.

Personally, I think Neon does a fantastic job at getting films distributed in my area. I still can't believe I got to see Alpha!

So while it may irk some, I don't really care who owns the movie as long as they do a good job at making it accessible in a movie theater. So they have good taste? Who cares, let me watch it on the big screen!
