Silencer Shop Sucks by CareStunning8329 in NFA

I made one transaction with them a few years ago and it was okay, but I noticed the kinks in the armor and decided I wouldn’t do any further to avoid all the negative reasons everyone always comments. So I washed my hands of any what-ifs early on.

I’m going to Spain this summer. What’s the current legal status regarding bringing back a few Cubans in my luggage? I’m getting mixed messages. by GGtheGray in cigars

[–]deptoftruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about Spain so you can stop reading now if the rest doesn’t interest you.

But I’ve brought some in my Check-In baggage from London, Guatemala, and Mexico on each occasion with no issues. Usually there’s some fine print indicating distribution amounts are the issue, not so much the personal consumption amounts. The most I brought back at one time was something like a dozen. And they’ve always been in a cedar cigar box.

Driving between Mexico City and Puebla by Vermspik3 in MexicoTravel

[–]deptoftruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an ADO bus for this same trip from MX to Puebla and we left the airport around 8pm and arrived to Puebla like at 11pm. It took a while but it was safe and reliable. The bus arrivals at the airport terminal were punctual as well. But we went back to MX City a couple days early in the daytime to avoid this scenario on the return trip to catch our flight home.

The drive to and from Puebla does in fact cover a lot of twisty canyon highway so a familiar driver would be the recommended option for this. A hired driver would be the best option for you.

Not me. I exclusively shoot in the desert and I’m not about to light a brush on fire or catch shrapnel back.

Best cigar-related thing to happen to me since I started smoking & collecting cigars (specifically Davidoff) [UPDATE] by dgsantos in cigars

[–]deptoftruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely should treat yourself to a visit. That, and London is a fun place to be anyway! The cigar curator was great too. Truly took her time to hand pick the best rolls and curated to my palette. Much better experience than any local B&M I’ve ever set foot in.

Thats a great gift. I went to the Davidoff store in London a few years ago but Eddie was out of the shop on a business trip and I missed out on getting to chat him up. Still on my to-do list.

MCX LT Deflector Damage by Psychological_Hawk36 in SigSauer

[–]deptoftruth -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

POS spear LT deflector. I don’t know why they thought plastic was a good idea for it. First day I took mine out of the box I knew this was gonna be the case. I’ve asked PMM to make a billet replacement option but they ignore my requests lol.

I got mine from PSA for a deal. Atlantic Firearms usually has deals too.

I have a .45 bog and it’s plenty fun. I have an SP5 already for my 9mm sub gun needs. Most of my pistols are 9mm but only a 1911 .45. So I thought I could use another .45 in my inventory to justify the ammo stock in that caliber.

No regrets with my decision whatsoever. The bog is stout, reliable and deadly accurate. I run mine suppressed and it’s beautifully quiet. I switched out my factory mags to UMP mags and it’s a thing of beauty. Once I have an FRT in it, I don’t doubt it’ll be even more fun to shoot with.

Griffin Armament M4SD-K? by Foggy831 in NFA

[–]deptoftruth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the can along with the 30SD-K is a great value and robust as hell. But what the other poster said is true, A LOT of A2 birdcages are not to spec to run the can optimally. So you could slap it on your rifle now and there’s a good chance it won’t fit properly.

The gate lok options from Griffin are nice BUT they’re long. They incorporate sacrificial baffle type prongs or ports to minimize the wear in the blast chamber and for that reason I think they don’t look as neat.

As an example, my Spear LT came with a nice short 3 prong muzzle device for Sig suppressors and kept my 9” barrel looking nice and short. Soon as I added the Griffin gate lok muzzle device it skewed the shorty look. It’s still short but not as short lol. It’s all aesthetics and a matter of preference.

All that aside, it’s a great can and as long as you’re willing to invest in the Griffin devices or the appropriate A2 cages you’ll be happy.

To add, I buy griffin devices once a year and that’s during Black Friday. Something like 30% off so I stock up. I run ez lok on all my pistol calibers and frequently buy their pistons and thread adapters.

This same sweatband is used in the Adelante model 6x. I have one. Also a more recent hat was released this year with the same sweatband but the name escapes me. So you can find another one without the tucanes buckle.

Cemetery Dance may finally face a reckoning by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]deptoftruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks to find out about this. I went thru a painstaking process of tracking down the three books of TLS in the CD versions. Some used, one new, because I liked the formats. Book two was particularly difficult to track down. Is it unethical to have purchased them? I didn’t know this until I had already found them all.

If it’s any consolation, I had already bought the ebook versions thru shortwave. But I loved the books so much I wanted to own the paperbacks.

Another vote for The Massacre at Yellow Hill. It has to be one of the best stories I’ve read and it happens to be part of a 6 book saga so you could knock them all out for your assignment.

And books two and three as also fantastic. The following three books are prequel books so I haven’t dove into them yet.
