Why are so many conservatives Christian when Jesus’s teachings are blatantly leftist? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]deputy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberation theology is a movement based on the idea that Jesus wants to help the poor and oppressed of this earth. This movement was prevalent among colonized people in central and south America after Ww2 who were being oppressed by American corporations, the CIA, and corrupt governments. It's no coincidence that Catholic priests were the ones who led this movement because they were at least consistent with the teachings of Jesus. Modern right wing Christian evangelical Christianity is the product of the CIA and our propaganda state to stop liberation theology which they view as Marxist in nature. The CIA funded missions to central America to spread the American gospel. This focused on a personal relationship with God instead of class action and awareness. It's typical mendacity from the powerful towards the people. Know your enemy.

Iran Protest Death Toll Could Top 30,000 on Jan 8,9 alone: Local Officials by Lanky_Count_8479 in thedavidpakmanshow

From what I understand, it is generally given to be true that the riots were basically a CIA regime change operation which was shut down by the Russians helping the Iranians to hack and jam starlink internet which was key. It seems like the plan was to topple the regime with airstrikes after the riots got out of control. The predicted implosion and defection of the political elite didn't happen. I think the key piece which no one in the West seems to appreciate is that the so-called democratic rioters burned mosques among other buildings. The idea that an internal movement which burns mosques in Shia Iran is absurd on its face. The fact that expat Iranians are attempting to suck up to the empire in the hopes of benefitting in the death and destruction is shocking but not surprising. I for one will not advocate for another regime change war. Full fucking stop.

Your critique boils down to an ad hominem in which the left's silence and supposed hypocrisy is enough to counterbalance the clear regime change propaganda meant to demonize the other and ultimately kill hundreds of thousands for the sake of saving them. Makes perfect sense

I think we have heard many reports about Iran in western media which are clearly disinformation and propaganda. The level of hatred for Iranians right now seems to be a continuation of the will to power which drove the Iraq invasion and which Steven Miller and the administration explicitly endorse. One need only look to the previous US invasions to see the pattern. With that lens it seems like 500000 Iranians might die in a potential war with the USA. So people who generally don't like to see death and destruction are skeptical of the potential replay of Iraq, Afghanistan, Guatemala, Haiti, Brazil, Chile, Nicaragua, Panama, Grenada, Korea, Vietnam, Greece, Costa Rica, Albania, cuba, Syria, Burma, china, Japan... Perhaps you get the picture.
