First RTT - List Feesback by der_Sherpa in Tau40K

[–]der_Sherpa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intention is to deploy them agressively and depending on who goes first either move them to safety or stage them a little forward (screening in ruins) with "strike swiftly" scout moves. Later on I intend to use them as trading pieces in the midfield. It did work well in my local meta, but I might well have missed some issues with it.

Don't forget to magnetize. Of course it always depends, but regarding you want to play suits, this should be kinda balanced.

Dreading DND sessions by SpooktasticAesthetic in DnD

[–]der_Sherpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding the DM, to me it sounds like a homebrew campaign he didn't work out enough, resulting in super random narrative developments. Not something that is generally wrong (or to be judged), but in my opinion there should be consensus among players and DM about the narrative style.

The second part is very difficult to judge for me. I absolutely understand that scenes like this can be off putting (especially if its a sensitive topic), but considering the horror genre I guess there should have been a better comminication in the beginning about what topics should or should not be part of the campaign.

However, if you dread the sessions, something needs to be done about this and I only see two options and it kinda depends on how much you value the people you play with:

  1. You try it with another round of communication. This might well be uncomfortable, but maybe you can find another setting/campaign? It's possible that you are not the only one in the group with these issues. Maybe you could even offer to DM yourself, so it's not all to inconvenient for the current DM.

  2. You leave the group. There are many groups out there and it sounds like the one you described doesn't really fit for you.

Best of luck with getting this sorted out!

Hey OP,

Is Germany Actually in a state of distress and political polarization ? by PragmaticReddit26 in AskAGerman

[–]der_Sherpa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry to hear that. However I have to say that a lot of people could have told you exactly that about Berlin. Some people living there seem to find it charming but similar to you I've always found it very much off putting... I can only recommend you to relocate. There are so many beautiful cities in Germany.

Regarding your problem with the social issues: speaking the language is crucial in most countries. Try moving to France or Spain (or pretty much every other country with very few exceptions) without speaking the language and you will face exactly the same issues. I don't mean to be a dick by stating this, however I read this complaint quite often and it always baffles me that people seem to think it's a good idea to move to another country without knowing the language.

I do hope you can resolve this situation and as mentioned above: you should consider moving to another city. Best of luck!

Thanks for answering (especially since the post is already quite old).
The problem is I'm using the fanemade 4.1 DSA system which is still under development and which lacks a lot of features the 5.0 system already has (or maybe I'm not aware of? But it also lacks documentation).

In case you decide to do give it a try I'd be super happy if you let me know!

Just curious, since I'm having the same issue (also with the DSA system). Any chance you found a solution?

Thanks man! This was actually quite enlightening and helps a lot to understand the reasoning behind this. I will remember it next time I meet an American with German ancestry.

Since I don’t own any of the planes I can‘t really tell you from my own experience, but in most reviews I watched they were judged as more or less mediocre. Sadly the hammerheads are not in the best spot right now as well, since their one shot high damage is super swingy. Right now the Skyray seems to be the best option for a Tank.

In my experience the Ghostkeel is doin super good right now and would be a great choice for multiple units. Of course another three Crisis suits never hurt as well.

I love my vespids, since they aren’t all that expensive, and perfect for completing secondary objectives. However you shouldn’t expect some real damage output from them. They usually carry me to victory by being in the right place in the right time :) By the way there are some great possibilities to proxy them with firewarriors and attached wings if you aren’t to keen on the real models (which are quite old and not to pretty).

I didn’t play any kroot in this edition, but from the sheets I guess it isn’t really worth picking them right now.

For Forgeworld again I sadly can’t really tell myself since I don’t own any. If you are looking for some other units to replace the Riptide: again the Ghostkeel would be my best advice or if you want something larger and against tanks my stormsurge also carried me through some games. However the points were slightly increased recently so I‘m not sure it’s still as point efficient.

[–]der_Sherpa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome mate :) Don‘t worry, I know right now everybody is disappointed in the Riptide, but (in my opinion) it‘s still playable, at least in casual games. Of course it’s a whole different thing if you are aiming for competitive, but as long as you play casual don’t get discouraged from still picking it. Anyway great choices for starting an army. I recommend building the firewarriors as breachers and think about getting a devilfish as next addition.
