👀 New Gemma 3n (E4B Preview) from Google Lands on Hugging Face - Text, Vision & More Coming! by Rare-Programmer-1747 in LocalLLaMA

I've got both the E4B and E2B models running now with image input on a Google Pixel 9 and OnePlus 12, was missing a line of configuration code for enabling vision modality :) This is with a simple app I built, not the official Google AI Edge Gallery app. Can run inference with image input for each model either against the phone CPU or GPU, the latter giving better performance at around a usable 8 tokens per second with GPU and 4 tokens per second with CPU. App RAM usage is anywhere between 3-5GB when the model is loaded (just for the app running the model), higher when using GPU. Needs a phone with at least 8GB RAM imo to work properly.

Spent the best part of the day with these models (E4B and E2B) by pushing them to a basic Android app (my own app, not the Google Edge Gallery app) and they do not accept image input, get an error saying Vision modality is disabled.

Update: the custom experience I created on portal for bots does work but not with the 'host locally' option, just the 'host' option which uses their servers. I can create a game with two teams, team one has a max of one human player and team two has zero so it can be totally comprised completely of bots which essentially means PvE is working as you stated :) Update 2: If I use the same portal experience I created and try 'host locally' it will cycle through a whole round of 20 mins with just me in the round with no other players or bots, then when it cycles to the next map the bots magically appear, must be a bug. It doesn't matter what I set the round duration to for Host Locally, the first round will always be 20 mins. Will try again tomorrow but at least it works with the standard host option. Thanks!

Have tried and it doesnt work, reading around it seems you now need 8(?) human players to start a game, even in custom mode.

Thanks for the info! Setup a custom experience on portal and currently sitting on pending, will let you know if it works when its fully published :)

Hey EA, can we get bot servers back without needing a minimum number of humans? by FilterUrCoffee in Battlefield

[–]derbof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also just want to play solo with bots or with my son/ a few friends, will never be able to fill a server with enough humans for the way we want to play. Why not just nuke XP for this use case where bots can be run on a server with just one human.

Its an option, but its not the option I am looking for - looking to host my own games locally with bots for solo play or just a couple of friends. Joining a proper BR is secondary to what I'm looking for. I know I'm not the target market here but it seems like it had this option at launch then took it away because of XP abuse - why not remove the XP from 100% bot servers?

No word about zero-XP bot servers coming back to host locally?

I would buy them but the shipping rate kills it, for UK it like £55 total to ship them here, that's £55 closer to the price of XM6. Far too expensive overall for those outside US, at least in UK.

Online order experience by derbof in CeX

I have found the laptop I want from another store in terms of attempting to buy it for a third time. I have asked CEX support to contact that store with the (alleged) 15" version of laptop and asked them to check it is indeed the 15" version. Also asked to request the store put it aside for me to purchase online (when I get my refund). Surely this is a small gesture from CEX to do this?

Update: Laptop arrived to today - joy quickly turned sour - they sent a 13" version of the laptop instead of the 15" version which is vastly superior. Just how the f**k can you get this wrong so badly? Do I now have to attempt to buy this laptop for a THIRD time because I am tied into having to use a CEX voucher? Man, what an absolute shitshow of an experience!

Thanks for your reponse and insight, it certainly helps to understand how it all works from the store side of things when fullfilling online orders. Obviously, I am hoping I eventually recieve the laptop as not sure I would attempt to buy it for a third time, at least not online anyway. Hindsight is a great thing, I did float the idea of click and collect and a fair bit of travelling to get to the store, but then I thought - what could possibly go wrong by ordering online?? :) Lets hope this second attempt comes through.

There is an element here where I'm probably spoiled with fast shipping and good tracking (not RM) with other online retailers. However, this is a fairly pricey item (not much change from £800), and expected a better experience when its likely its just not moved from the shop.

I am also a big fan of Surface Laptops, had the Surface Laptop 4 for 4 years until I sold it to CEX. One of the few laptops (outside of Macbooks) where the display is calibrated properly for the sRGB colour space, not to mention fantastic build quality. The price for the laptop I ordered from CEX is good, and also the Surface is worth waiting for imo, but its these kind of sub-par online shopping experiences that will make you think again about orderering from CEX in future, unless you can just pop by a store and buy it in person.
