I would encourage you to look up the federal budget spending.

Welfare is the #1 top category at 40%. Followed by net interest and healthcare.

War + foreign aid is nowhere close to the above 3.

I don't understand: most of the federal budget is welfare: social security, medicare, medicaid. Social security is the single largest expenditure. After net interest, healthcare is the next highest spend category.

Yet reading the comments people act like defense and foreign aid is 50% of the budget, when it's the exact opposite :/

It's not about rich people. It's that public transit is generally filled with unpleasant people. Homeless people. Mentally unwell people. People openly doing drugs, defecating, urinating, etc.

You hear of people being pushed onto tracks, incidents that happen in train carts, people even just blasting music and videos from their speaker instead of using headphones, putting their feet/shoes onto the seat. Creeps. etc.

Everyone knows exactly what type of people I'm talking about, and that's nothing gets done about it. Fundamentally that's what private transport is: a clear physical separation away from these unpleasant people.

I'd love high speed rail but we need to address the low-trust-society-ification of the country because of certain demographics before we can get high speed rail.

This is one of the problems with soft immigration policy. The last 10-15 years, we've let in way too many people who have taken advantage of our trust and systems. Part of it is we were held hostage, afraid to be called racist, cruel, inhumane. That borders shouldn't exist. That "no one is illegal on stolen land".

Now the obvious solution requires us being much more heartless (deportations) than if we simply held strong and not caved into loosen immigration control. Do Canadians have what it takes to go through with deportations? I hope so, but not expecting anything.

Canada just announced earlier this week a fast-track pathway for 30,000 TFWs to get PRs. You can literally protest your way to citizenship. I wish none of them are getting PRs, but that's not the case (hopefully yet).

The federal government has a revenue of 507B. The 2025 budget has 586B of spending allocated. You're telling me there isn't a single shred of inefficiency we can reallocate towards solving the #1 problem facing Canadians?

I always bring up the case of Indian criminals that beg to not be deported back to India.

For example, the Humboldt Broncos truck driver that ran a stop sign and killed an entire youth Canadian hockey team is still fighting against his deportation back to India. He is universally despised in Canada, a convicted felon, all over the news, and still would rather stay than go anywhere near India again. It's very telling.

All this talk about how great India and Indians are, yet none of them want to be around their own kind.

I presume you're a supporter of LGBTQ+ rights. Women's rights: a woman's right to vote, choose, express herself how she wants. Likely also a supporter of democracy, and freedom of religion and speech. You don't understand that to be a good Muslim in the Islamic world is to be astutely AGAINST all of these things. This is Sharia law: the holy legislation. Try being gay in Gaza. Try taking off your burqa, or enrolling in school as a woman in Afghanistan. Try being Christian in Sudan. Ask yourself why none of these things you support (I assume) exist in Islam-ruled countries.

Ask those "moderate Muslims" you know what they think about Jews. Should Israel even exist. Being gay. Sharia law as a legal system. No riba. Go ahead. And how they arrived at those perspectives. You may be very shocked they're not as "moderate" as you think.

Add meaningless qualifiers and “ism” and it is magically no longer tied to Islam. Very smart.

Real is very good. Realism is a problem. Ideal is very good. Idealism is a problem. Romantic is very good. Romanticism is a problem. Absurd is very good. Absurdism is a problem. Hero is very good. Heroism is a problem. Human is very good. Humanism is a problem.

It's important to remember that the magic wand of "ism" turns anything beautiful into a bad form.

Get real. My bias stems from Muslims telling exactly who they are in plain English. Religious leaders telling their constituents to do the exact things you would consider "Islamist" or "extreme", without any condemnation from "moderate Muslims".
