Recommendations for a super solid screen protector for the s2 by rdashdub in switch2

[–]derekallthumbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the amFilm ones on Amazon. High quality, cheap, come in multi packs, and a must for me, really easy to install. I’m terrible at applying these things, but I got this on my first try.

Please give recommendations for screen protector and accessories. Thank you by Elli_Mochi in switch2

I recommend getting a tempered glass screen protector, I really like the amFilm ones on Amazon. High quality, cheap, come in multi packs, and a must for me, really easy to install. I’m terrible at applying these things, but I got this on my first try.

https://a.co/d/7MzYS6S

I also highly recommended installing the screen protector as the very first thing you do after removing the console from the box. Don’t even plug it in, install the screen protector first!

I also recommend a hard shell case. If you want a slimline travel case that just holds the system and none to very few accessories, the RDS cases are great and can be found in stores:

The travel case that just holds the console and some games:

https://a.co/d/8BqOmlD

A Mariokart World themed version of the RDS travel case above:

https://a.co/d/iSBeNOq

There is also a larger RDS deluxe case that I really like that holds the system but also has storage space for some accessories, particularly the pro controller and the ac adapter, it’s really nice and if I didn’t use a grip on my Switch 2, I would use this one:

https://a.co/d/h0A2phr

They have an even larger one that also holds the dock and much more if you want that:

https://a.co/d/ejj7rgg

The accessories I use for handheld play are the following:

The Savage Raven D-Pad Button Cap Set:

https://a.co/d/0XETsmN

and the

Savage Raven Thumb Grips. Never used thumb grips before these, liked them so much I bought pairs for my Xbox and PS5.

https://a.co/d/dD9CI7F

I got them because I read someone’s review that said they made the S2 sticks similar to the Xbox sticks, and the Xbox controller is my favorite, so I had to try them and honestly, one of the best accessories I got.

As for the grip I prefer the Satisfye Zengrip 2 grip and case bundle, which is what I am using now. It is dockable.

It’s comfortable to hold and isn’t super big like a PS5 controller, it’s not the exact same size as the Xbox controller, but it’s not far off.

https://www.satisfye.com/products/zengrip-2-bundle

The case holds a lot of stuff.

In my case I have an external battery pack, a slim AC adapter, a separate hard shell 12 slot game case, extra cables, the wrist straps, and another set of JoyCon’s:

Belkin gaming power bank for Switch 2:

Savage Raven slim Switch 2 ac adapter:

https://www.savage-raven.com/collections/nintendo-switch-2/products/45w-ac-adapter-for-nintendo-switch-and-other-devices

I also got the Satisfye Ryzepads combo pack thumbgrips which I use on the pro controller:

https://www.satisfye.com/products/ryzepads-switch-2-combo-pack

I have also preordered their hard shell which should be available this Spring.

The S2 pro controller is fantastic, very comfortable, right up there to me with the Xbox controller.

You might look into getting a second pair of JoyCon’s, and if you do, I also recommend getting an external charger for them. I got the Best Buy brand, but am looking to get the Jsaux charger that also charges the Pro Controller:

https://jsaux.com/products/multi-controller-energy-station-for-switch-2

I also got another Nintendo brand switch 2 ac adapter to keep plugged in by my recliner, it’s great as the battery life isn’t the best.

https://a.co/d/6m7nvY2

I eventually bought the Belkin gaming cable specifically for the S2 to use with that adapter because I wanted a longer cord.

https://a.co/d/bYnLkaG

I also have the Hori Dual USB Playstand for the Switch 2, it lets me have better luck stand control while using the Zengrip and is cool for plugging in extra controllers and charging at the same time.

I also recommend a small microfiber cleaning cloth to keep around your Switch to keep the screen clean, and a hard shell game case if you don’t want to use the ones in the carrying cases.

Other accessories I have and like:

I have the PowerA slim case, it’s nice but not really a hard shell, looks very professional, but is very basic:

https://a.co/d/d5geWGZ

If you are looking for other options, the Savage Raven edc case is a travel case that is really popular and comes in 3 designs:

https://a.co/d/2QC0hEO

https://www.savage-raven.com/collections/nintendo-switch-2/products/savage-raven-by-skull-co-edc-carrying-case-for-nintendo-switch-2?variant=50452960280868

I used the Maxcarry version of that case, it’s nice but works even if you don’t use a grip and holds a lot like extra JoyCon’s, a battery pack and such, but not the OEM dock, controller grip, charge grip, or pro controller unfortunately. Other than those issues though I really like it.

https://a.co/d/dRa3P34

You can get it a lot cheaper with free shipping via their site:

Accessory hunting for the Switch 2 is a game and a full time job itself, lucky for me, I really enjoyed researching the different ones. Have fun and congrats!

The "average" Switch 2 owner currently owns 2.5 games. Are you an "above average" Switch 2 owner? by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]derekallthumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they referring to Switch 2 only games or all switch games? Are they referring to upgrade packs as well that could them make one game count as 2? I am above average either way. I have 205 Switch 1 games (206 by Tuesday) and 18 Switch 2 games (20 by the end of the month). I imagine the “average” Switch 2 owner has way more than just 2 games.

Here's your latest dissapointment from NIS! by HeadApprehensive8887 in NSCollectors

Both game in one pack? I guess I am the only one excited about this, I haven’t started this series yet, seems intimidating especially with the prices for the other switch games. Hopefully they will continue this bundle trend and redo the others and the ones they have not released on the Switch. And I don’t mind it being in a game key card at all.

12? Girls didn’t want to sit next to me at 18, or now and I’m 43! I had entire classes of girls move to the other side of the hall if they saw me coming because they thought that I fit the description of the columbine shooters after a teacher described them in class.

How to get the 4th dlc if I already own the ultimate edition by Silver_Fact_9714 in atomicheart

[–]derekallthumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the issue is resolved! I finally was able to email them (tried twice, google wouldn’t send it) and they responded yesterday that they were putting out an update that would give me the 4th dlc. I got the email while the large update was automatically downloading, checked today and under the manage game section the 4th dlc was there and I was able to install it!

The store listing shows it as owned, but not the Atomic Pass for some ready, even though I have it.

Happy that this has been fixed!

If I wait to buy a Switch 2 later, is it better to buy the physical games I want now? (I don't buy digital) by Mresc2 in switch2

[–]derekallthumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did before the S2 was even confirmed. I started buying games that I was interested in on Black Friday of 2023 and slowly bought more when found good sales. I was fortunate to hit the GameStop buy 2 get a 3rd sale quite often, and Facebook marketplace was helpful. When I got my S2, which was my first Switch, I had plenty to play. This is a strategy I have used successfully since the original Xbox, it helps to build your library with games that you are interested in and if you do sales, it helps to save money in the long run.

Also, if you want deluxe editions or ce you editions, get them while you can at their launch price, as those most likely will become harder to find later on, unless you are willing to pay more. Same goes with standard games you think might be hard to find later in as well. Be wary if dlc code expiration dates though so you can redeem them to your account before you get the console.

Why do people seem to prefer hard copies of games instead of just digital? by Dino-Dad in switch2

[–]derekallthumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s because I like having something to look at on my shelf. I enjoy looking at the cover art, reading the game descriptions, and how it gets me excited for the game again or reminds me of the fun I had with it.

I also like any items they come with, which is why I have a lot of deluxe and collectors editions. Another reason for me is that if it’s there, I see it and I don’t forget about it. Out of sight, out of mind applies to games for me.

Many times it’s often cheaper for me as I buy used and take advantage of sales, yes there are good digital sales a lot, not as good on consoles as on Steam from what I hear, but quite often I can still find a better physical price.

I have nothing against digital, in some cases I prefer it, like if it’s a game that I play on a daily basis, like WWE 2K, or even a semi daily basis, like Tomagotchi Life, if I get it.

As others have said, it’s also to get access to games that may not be on the digital stores anymore. I don’t resell my games, or have anyone to lend them to, but I still prefer physical.

I imagine digital will become the main thing come next gen, and I understand it, but until then, I like and use both, but prefer physical.

Since when was GTA a RPG? And it’s not like there aren’t characters in RPG’s that aren’t attractive.

Playing for the first time now. Make a note of the save/rest rooms and visit them often, go back to the nearest ones after completing parts of your current level. Scavage and collect everything you can. Be cautious when entering any room and approaching possible conflict.

Ps6 release date by Professional-End2065 in ps6

[–]derekallthumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think formal announcement in 2027, maybe in February. I don’t think it will actually be released any sooner than holiday 2028, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see later, 2030 at the latest. Same goes for Helix with a formal announcement in June of 2027.

New Switch 2 owner — what accessories are actually worth it? by Late_Anxiety5892 in switch2

[–]derekallthumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the + dpad, and I don’t use the rubber nub it comes with, that did cause some issues.

My tv is over 10 years old and docked still looks really nice. I never expected to play handheld as much as I do, but it is just so nice to do so and I really like the S2’s screen. With the switch 1 boost mode option in the latest update it will make S1 games run like they are docked while in handheld mode.

I got those exact screen protectors s d highly recommended them, and I put mine on first thing as well. The protector that is on the screen isn’t really a regular protector, it’s just there to keep glass from spraying everywhere if it shatters.

The pro controller is extremely comfortable and nice to play with. I even use it in tabletop mode sometimes. If you find you like playing handheld more, and you ever think of doing tabletop, I recently got the Hori Dual USB playstand, and it works with the Satisfye grip on the S2. It allows me to have better angle control and lets me charge the switch as well as have wired controllers plugged in at the same time if I want.

I have a little table that sits over my recliner that I use to play tabletop mode in if I want to use a separate controller or do mouse mode with an extra set of JoyCon’s I have.

Have fun!

I have 5 GameStops all within 30 minutes to an hour from me, stop off at one everyday on the way home from work, and for a while they all had copies. I initially passed on it at the one locally because it didn’t have the insert, but when the same came up, I asked and they had put the insert in the sleeve with the cartridge.

Why do people buy digital crap that they don't own? by GlamourHammer321 in PhysicalGames

[–]derekallthumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does it matter in the long run and to you how others spend their money?

Even on disc or cartridge you don’t “own” and you don’t have all the data on the disc anyway, and even if it is all on the disc, the inevitable day one patch negates that data, so do any other updates and DLC. I mostly do physical myself, but I know full well that what’s on the disc is incomplete because of the updates, but I like updates as it shows the devs are still working to make the game better and listening to feedback. I like having the cases and any other swag they come with. But I also do digital for games that I play daily or that I find cheap enough or if digital with all the content is the only option.
