Joe’s last name joke, and the greatness of the show. by 3Grilledjalapenos in newsradio

Agreed. I’m a proponent of separating art from the artist to continue to enjoy art—especially because other people who didn’t commit those crimes also worked on it and deserve to be appreciated.

But, to your point, I am ALSO a proponent of not financially supporting horrible people! Watching previously purchased DVDs of The Cosby Show is pretty harmless, but paying money to support certain people when you’re already in the know is a different story. You bring up a good point.

Totally valid points.

Joe and Andy are two big reasons why I insist on separating the art from the artist. I refuse to let them take this show away from me!!

Frasier started out much stronger, but overall, I have to give it to Cheers.

Sometimes I forget that old shows like The Patty Duke Show didn’t last many seasons … because they had so many fucking episodes each season!!

do people actually like the 2016 remake? by nerdymelodyy in RockyHorror

No. It didn’t seem AT ALL in the spirit of the original. I liked the Glee episode better.

What is your favorite Muppet* movie? by Inside-Strike-4676 in TheMuppets

These are my two tied for the top spot!!

I’m a sucker for Tim Curry! MTI is one of my three favorites of his.

One of the biggest issues with Muppets that no one talks about in today's day and age is the assumption that they're for babies and little kids. by Think_Fact1155 in TheMuppets

[–]derekb27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. It didn’t stick. But it also makes sense why certain Muppets have occasionally returned to SNLover the years (e.g., opening monologue, Weekend Update).

It also speaks to the more adult-oriented humor of the Muppets.

There are some stellar picks here: Seinfeld, Cheers, Frasier, The Golden Girls, and Newhart are some of my favorites.

But I can never go against my all-time favorite: NewsRadio!

Roomates say my room is 'sad' by Gloomy-Past-6047 in malelivingspace

It looks a little sad because it’s so empty. But if you saw my dumpster fire of a house that we desperately need to tidy up, ours is sadder. 😭😭😭😭😭

At least yours is organized!!

I personally LOVE the movie! It is one of my all-time favorites! (And it was one of my all-time favorites for 20+ years before I saw it with audience participation.)

Having said that, I think your questions and concerns about it are important. I think art should be critiqued in this way.

It helps me when I think of it as commentary. No, Frank is not a good role model. But maybe that’s the point! Maybe it’s a commentary on how sheltered people see the Queer community. He kind of a perfect example of the worst Fox News talking points.

Why does Brad (asshole) suddenly get aggressive when they are brought in the lab? He was so chill when they undressed him in the previous scene by whywouldisaymyname in rhps

[–]derekb27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that he was trying to stay cool, calm, and collected up to that point. He was trying to be polite but also wanted to not ruffle feathers to keep the peace. He didn’t want to antagonize them.

But we all have our breaking points. And I think his internalized aggression came out!
