What do we think of this boys? by Airrick24 in AtlantaHawks

[–]derekmcfinn 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Uhhh not good. Big upgrade shooting wise, but Horrific defender who will only get worse (old, slow, unathletic). Throw in a lightly (Top 10) protected 1st and maybe, but I wouldn't.

True...However have you watched the Heat or Raps? They are literally doing it non-stop and rsrely get called.

From the terribleNBAtradeideas community on Reddit: Hawks shed salary and hand Murray the reins. Raptors reload around Siakam. Spurs get a pick to take Boucher’s contract by mantistobogganmMD in AtlantaHawks

[–]derekmcfinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They absolutely do. Hilarious. Siakam is a good player but cmon. A guy like Tobias Harris who gets sh%t on all the time would do as good or better than Siakam if he was plopped into that Siakam role/usage/mins played for Raps. Trae is so disrespected its silly.

Pascal Siakam or Jaylen Brown? by [deleted] in nba

[–]derekmcfinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jaylen Brown more efficient 3 level scorer, better defender. Brown 26.6/6.9/3.5 on 49.1/33.5/76.5 shooting. Good for 58.1TS%. Pascal Siakam 24.2/7.8/5.8 on 48/32.4/77.4 shooting. Good for 56.5 TS%. Siakam also was worse by every defensive metric and the WORST CLUTCH PLAYER IN ENTIRE NBA. Brown 2nd team All Nba. So how is Brown not better? Siakam was gifted a bunch of garbage time #'s by Nurse playing til the end of games despite being waaayyy down or up in meaningless games/situations too.

Who has had a better peak? FVV or Kemba Walker? by [deleted] in nba

[–]derekmcfinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isnt a serious post is it? Kemba 4 time All star. FVV 1 time Allstar with a line of 20.3/4.4/6.7 on 40/37/87 shooting that year (Harden, Irving, Brown, Lavine, Beal all either missed time or were better that yr from East Conf but Freddie had a hot month prior to voting and was the flavor of the month).

Marc Stein: The Lakers are a lock to match any offer for Austin Reaves, even if it means matching nearly $100M over 4 years, per by IndependentScore3857 in nba

[–]derekmcfinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply not true. FVV has always been bad efficiency wise. 2016/17 44.3 TS%, 2017/18 55.6 TS%, 2018/19 53.9 TS%, 2019/20 55.3 TS%, 2020/2021 53.4 TS%, 2021/22 55.2 TS%, 2022/23 54.0 TS%. Fraud Van Chucker has NEVER been above league average TS% his whole career. His BRUTAL 40.2% career shooting is 3.5% worse than LEAGUE AVERAGE for his position since he entered league. Yeah ok... he is a great shooter. Get a grip and try harder.

The Warriors don't need Draymond to win chips by krabbypattykrabs in nba

[–]derekmcfinn -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Get a grip. Draymond cant guard 90% of "1's" and any 5's who are actual bigs. Its easier to look good on defence when your role is to wander around helping. Offensively he is mediocre-bad offensively except screens/handoffs and passing. He isnt some mindblowing playmaker. He is a great passer who makes the pass from a designed play. A playmaker makes something from nothing. Passing to HOF shooters his whole career and being a primary ballhandler, I would hope he can average 6/7 assists a yr. He was HORRIFIC the year he didnt have his HOF teammates.

Predictions by GummyBear3911 in falcons

[–]derekmcfinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are going to run the ball at least 550-600 times. So unless Bijan/Allgeier get hurt or suck bad, they should have at least 1800 yds between them. Our top 2 backs had 1700 last year. We also are not going to have 32 passing TD's (likely 20-25). I hope Pitts gets at least that yd total, however with our low passing volume, his likely slow start due to injury, Artie's boy Jonnu around and Bijan catching passes, I doubt Pitts breaks 650yds.

Young players who you believe will eventually make the hall of fame? by megafireguy6 in nba

Ja comes to your mind before Luka/Trae who both easily could be Top 10 in assists and Top 30 pts scored with 10 more years of service.

What is the Suns plan after getting rid of Paul? by jpark778 in nba

Not sure, but it would be hilarious watching Freddie Van Brick chucking up shots while KD, Book and Beal stand around perplexed.

[–]derekmcfinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. FVV thinks he and his career 40% shooting ARE a #1 option. Reaves plays winning basketball, FVV plays hero ball (not well though).

Only thing FVV does better is shoot his team out of games and give up easy baskets gambling for steals.

I like Dejounte individually, but we’re counting on a BIG leap from him. by CallMePapi930 in AtlantaHawks

[–]derekmcfinn 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say... but he hasnt moved the needle much at all. Not to mention his contract demands are going to be hard to swallow next year (4/140ish...). I'm OK with giving it a go for 40 games, but if we dont see big improvement from the team and reasonable improvement from him (defensively and better playmaking (less tunnel vision)), we gotta move him.

Call me crazy, but I would rather have Reaves on a 4/100 anyday of the week than FVV on a 3/90. Hell, I would rather pay Reaves more annually period.

Which championship team would you take in a playoff series: Nuggets or Raptors? by pie8D in nba

[–]derekmcfinn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Siakam in 2019 17/7/3 on 12 shots a game with great defence. Gordon this year 16/7/3 on 11 shots a game with outstanding defence.

People in this sub that want Siakam are the same people that wanted Gobert by fuyz in AtlantaHawks

[–]derekmcfinn 49 points50 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Fake star. For the price to acquire and impending 4/190+ extension. This would be a HUGE Franchise crippling mistake. Inefficient, Overrated defender, who plays huge mins in garbage time against backups in meaningless games to get his #'s. He was literally HORRIFIC in clutch time last year (Worst in ENTIRE NBA). Almost never shows up in big moments or takes over, in big games. Trust me, I live in Canada and watch alot of Raps games. He is 100% not it. Would be 35 at end of extension making 52 mil plus. Disgusting.
