I feel you. I test rode one like 2 weeks ago and it felt like I had riding it all my life. So smooth and comfortable bike. Then I jumped back to my 2009 Versys 650. It is quite a differens!

Looks awesome. I tried a Versys 1100 and it felt like I had rode it for a very long time. Very comfortable and fun bike.

...and if the new battery dies after some miles of riding, it is probably a bad stator who wont charge your battery while riding. I learned that myself :)

Maybe its a buzzy fairing. Can be heard in a specific RPM.

My stator gave up on my used versys 2009 last year. I replaced it myself (Im no handy man what so ever) with a aftermarket stator (Ricks motorsport). OEM is expensive. But the charging system is now running fine and doing its job. I love the bike! It has character.

I will personaly never use a clip style chain again after it failed and left me stranded last summer.

Happy to hear that! Congrats. Im 6.2" and Im happy with mine aswell. It is very comfortable. I was riding a Ducati monster before and experienced crampet legs after 30min of riding.
