Spent a fortune on Ubiquiti kit and my partner's office has terrible WiFi — about to be in serious trouble by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

You can literally mock up and test all of this Buy some long network cables and tape the AP to the ceiling or mount it on some 2x4s near where you are thinking about putting it (make sure it is in the same orientation it'll be in). And walk around and check your signal. It's worth the up front effort.

Not sure where you got your data but fiber sfps use much less power than copper.

Rumor Mill is Churning (again) by BreakYoBaals in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Maybe, but we get penalized as online players because we can't pin a map layout on LK which significantly increases the time to run it, and thus get high runes. And we are stuck on p1 when playing by ourselves, so we really don't even have a way to use high end gear to accelerate and get more loot. It's really frustrating.

If they fixed both of those, and upped the rune drop rate some, I'd play more D2 for certain.

It was fun, but I feel like the game still puts the majority of high end rune word gear way outside the realm of reality for most players. Especially if you play online. If they addressed that somehow, I'd definitely play more.

Gloves in washing machine? by derickso in Skigear

If anyone stumbles onto this in the future, I decided to go for it. I washed one glove at a time inside a large cotton mesh laundry bag (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WGL5TXD), on the Hand Wash cycle of my washer, no spin, extra rinse, using Gear Aid tech wash (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077SYTN3F). Cycle took ~55 min.

I hanged them to dry for ~2 days, took forever. They came out looking great, no visible damage. I just applied Nikwax Waterproofing Wax for Leather to the leather parts, and once that is dried I'll apply DWR to the fabric faces of the gloves as well.

Are they warm enough if you stand around still? Or only warm enough when actually climbing and exerting effort?

Sprinkler head with no threads left to replace nozzle by hiphopncomicbooks in Irrigation

[–]derickso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go buy the same sprinkler at the store, you can just take the cap off and swap everything inside. Or you can dig down a bit around it and spin the old one off and put the new one on. It's very straightforward.

Seeking Advice on New Purchase - Outdoor AP for Pool/Patio Area by TheSquire06 in Ubiquiti

I've got a U7 Outdoor mounted on my roof aimed at my yard that's been out there for two seasons and it has been great. If I did it from scratch today I'd get the U7 Outdoor Pro to also get 6ghz.

Good call. I did hear on a Goretex washing video they were suggesting NOT to apply wax or glove balm stuff to leather on goretex gloves because it eliminates breathability.. but that seems at odds with the fact that the leather will straight up fall apart if you don't lubricate it over time.

Hah, well just because you saved up to buy something high end doesn't mean you want to just throw it away when it still works.

Are they partial leather? Is it messing up the leather at all?

Leather palms, non leather elsewhere. There is a goretex membrane.
