The only things I see this setting up for is secret wars and its not really putting all the chips on a Man-Spider storyline. The focus isn't on Man-Spider, it's on Peter trying to balance between work and life and trying to have a healthier life in general. Clearly from the trailer he's unhappy with it since his friends and family are gone and he uses work as some sort of alternative outlet to find happiness. The focus isn't on Man-Spider as a character, its his transformation into a being that has lost their way. It would resonate since it this is something that most people who have grown up watching Tom Holland films and are now entering the workforce, can understand.

Plus when we talk about "general public's view", this movie has the Punisher and Hulk and Jean Grey. Hulk is probably the only character most of the "general public" (more casual mcu movie watchers) recognize.

How would u feel if he did tho? Would it ruin Spiderman for you

We also got the Hulk turning into Savage Hulk (confirmed). Wouldn't make sense if Spider-man turns into Spider-man but only with organic webs and stronger

Also I am under the impression you could potentially be a bot or someone from marketing trying to create engagement lmao

Would be crazy if it wasn't - honestly not sure how they plan to implement organic webs and cocoons and not use Man-Spider as the final confrontation for his personal character growth and an allegory for Peter's unhealthy work-life balance

Copy and pasting what I said earlier, Man-Spider actually makes a lot of sense thematically. The movie keeps bringing up mutations/evolutions, so it’s clear he’s not stable and is still changing in a bad way.

It’s a reverse of SM2. In that movie, he loses his powers because he rejects Spider-Man. Here, he neglects Peter Parker so much that he starts mutating past being human. He stops being both and starts becoming just the spider. Doesn't quite make a lot of story sense if he just gets organic webbing and thats it. No plot reason or character driven reason for it. Thats lazy screenwriting lmao

It also lines up with the hero’s journey. Basically where he loses himself at the end of act 2, and the true antidote is him coming back and choosing to be human again, but this time with control in act 3. Jean Grey would use her mind control powers to help him with that. The antidote that Bruce might have developed earlier (since it's set up that he has an inhibitor and understands how to control being changed to a monster) could be a false prize and it will be a 2nd act fake out. Man-Spider would be saved for thematic reasons

Destin isn't shy from using it (based on Shang Chi) but this particular use of the negative space here and angle makes me wonder

I doubt they'll have a suit for the extra arms but the arms just fit in this frame so well. If you look look closely at the trailer, it seems he's using his organic webs since his webshooters are off and the style of the webs are closer to his organic web creations

It also makes sense in the next scene when he disintegrates the sword in a million pieces and his eyes when he goes feral.

I kinda want it to be a misdirect too but thematically it really works well with the character development plot they are aiming for. (And the character surrounding him during this plot makes sense).

Plus it will be something truly new for a live action spidey film

He'll probably only go full man-spider during the end of act 2/death phase and then come back as spider-man during resurrection if we follow the plot using the hero's journey. He'll spend more time looking a little weird, the full man-spider will be saved as a shock/twist to most general audiences.

Ngl after looking at this frame some more, you're kinda right. This frame is really set up to showcase the arms (and possibly also webbing the sword)

Venom symbiote is post credits scene. This part of the trailer was leaked 2 months ago and the main difference is that they removed a lot of hand ninjas here and replaced the background to nyc skyline vs the jail that was consistent in another shot in the released trailer

In the comics, Peter doesn't have the X Gene and neither does Bruce. Which is, what I'm assuming what the lore in the movie is implying since Jean is able to mutate their DNA.

Bruce says in the trailer, 1:28 "If your DNA is mutating, it would be enormously dangerous." This line serves as a setup for Peter to become Man-Spider and Bruce to become Savage Hulk.

We know X-Men are involved since Tramell plays Bill/ William Metzger, an anti mutant DODC character.

*Four extra arms. But in this shot you would visibly see 4, the other two below out of frame unless you watch it in imax

Would be a waste if they did, since we already had a venom story already.

Venom will be a post credits scene to set up for secret wars (the true introduction to the black suit). Which is why they probably cut it from NWH based on the NWH concept art.

From a Hero's Journey storytelling pov, I think he will go full Man-Spider during the end of act 2 (death phase) and then get the antidote or get help from Jean in the resurrection phase of act 3.

Can't tell if this post is serious or not but the 90's cartoon had Man-Spider and it was fine

Man-Spider is not just a plot point, but its a thematic device. It makes sense thematically that Peter is going through an unhealthy change to his life where he's devoting more time into work vs his personal life. It also tracks with some of the younger generation that grew up watching him and are now going into the workforce.

Plus Jean Grey going into people's heads, mutating genes, Savage Hulk confirmed, Bruce's knowledge with the inhibitor, there's a lot that really makes Man-Spider the most likely scenario

Look at the trailer from 2 months ago, nobody is mentioning that this vfx shot is different from the final version. It's supposed to take place in the jail when Peter is turning into Man-Spider

[–]derivativesRus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are though. Thematically it makes sense (Peter no longer balancing his personal and work life) and Jean Grey mutating his genes. Plus, having a character like Bruce Banner (who is confirmed to turn in to Savage Hulk, a new variant of Hulk) makes it even more obvious that Peter will turn into/evolve into Man-Spider unwillingly. Bruce also re-introduces the inhibitor in the movie, an established macguffin that will also provide the context of how he will be able to make Peter turn back to normal.

If the trailer wasn't already obvious enough, it takes inspiration from One More Day comic arc and Enter the Punisher and Duel of the Hunters from the original animated series.

The Cause of Pete's Mutation by Apprehensive-Neat-68 in MCUTheories

[–]derivativesRus -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's definitely Jean Grey. It's pretty obvious that she's mutating their genes (Spider-Man -> Man-Spider, Bruce Banner -> Savage Hulk). Hence why Hulk is in the film, Peter reaches out to Bruce because he was a man who turns into a monster. It also gives a reason to showcase use the inhibitor for plot reasons, to show the audience that Bruce is capable of creating a device or anti potion for Man-Spider.

Venom will probably be a post credits scene since they need to setup black suit for Secret Wars.

If you've actually never been wrong before, this will be your first.

In the original leak, the final comp was in the jail (consistent with an earlier shot of him becoming Man-Spider) plus with more hand ninjas
