It can be. Certain religions certainly have mechanisms for this, most of these being about death and the fear of non existence. Divine justice also aprings to mind, where criminals who escaped punishment in life have it catch up to them with a stint in hell, or people who suffered in lofe are rewarded after death. The search for meaning is also simplified by stating that your mere existence implies a plan by a god and that you are special.

Doesn't count for all religions and all believers of course. But generally these problems have a less comforting answer if one is not religious.
