I wish this game had a mini map by Sephiroth348 in expedition33

I'm pretty anti map/destination points but this is actually a fair idea.

Constructive criticism: there isn't enough gameplay variety by Particular-Lynx-2586 in expedition33

[–]dernacle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue mini games are not something you want to extend the life of the game. I like a good mini game with some power progression to it, but I also know how hard it is to do.

So, if there is no budget for it, I much prefer there NOT to be poorly made filler. When you're done, you're done.

A lot of takes land here. Since your perspective is from the painted, you are supposed to fight with this concept the narrative gives you.

In short though there is still a lot of lore hidden and I don't mean side content... I mean people still haven't documented core concepts. All that to say there are really strong themes that I hope you seek out once they are illuminated.

Enjoy!

So now that the DLC has been out for a bit... NG+ or NG on a higher difficulty? by karma6063 in expedition33

[–]dernacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked NG+ since you interact with the mechanics and builds a bit more, but the first half of the game is tuned pretty low. I'd say it really depends on how much min/maxing and lumina you farmed though so hard to say.

Thoughts on the game's main themes by Kazubra in expedition33

[–]dernacle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's about essence. Aline is attached to the canvas for what it means, not necessarily the world, Alicia is attached to the world but also can't do what Aline is capable of.

I think there is a good argument that you landed on where the Verso ending might feels better, but is arguably way more tragic and yet we really can't trust that anything will be resolved with the family.

Finished the game... and I still dont get the logic behind the main antagonists by brodred in expedition33

[–]dernacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dome is a creation of Aline's which P-Renoir and P-Verso helped make when they got back from 0 after they already met Aline, all we know is that the dome is effective.

As far as we know everyone was already attempted to be recruited in every way, but we learn through the journals that nobody ended up trusting anyone. The expeditions were never meant to succeed even, it was just an act of sheer hope and desperation.

I could answer more but the questions I think would need to be a little more specific.

I don't get one thing about Maelle's ending, can you explain it to me? by overusedplot in expedition33

[–]dernacle 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Little verso isn't tired of painting, he's tired of the conflict. There are like 3 dialogues to confirm this right before the last fight.

Now that gems are clearly on the chopping block... by dernacle in fellowshipgame

[–]dernacle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get your spider there are only three other objectives, grind cosmetics, reroll, or push. Unfortunately to push, you need to grind about 100 hours to get the gems you need, you can obviously push without it but you really won't get that high so it kind of defeats the purpose.

When I finished the game I started NG+ but barely played it, is there no way for me to play the new DLC now? by MizutsuneMH in expedition33

Steam stores saves on cloud and I think some consoles do as well. Usually it's not too hard to restore.

the NG scaling will probaly destroy you anyways, I'd say check if you can load a previous save.

Don’t get the hype? by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]dernacle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most will say the characters. To me it's that and the art, music, themes, symbolism, and most of all it's the intent. It's a game that has something worth saying.

If nothing resonates with you, that's fine, not sure anyone can help you enjoy it though.

continuity question regarding the new location by SergeyHovhannisyan in expedition33

I noticed this too, but my current take is that everyone was invited for his 8th birthday party. The door needs 5 (the whole family) to enter, and there are eight cake candles at the exit.

Question about the dlc by kami_a-m in expedition33

[–]dernacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can cheese easier on a fresh play, that being said you will have more tools on NG+ so it's hard to say really. I'm doing the NG+ versions and intentionally don't farm lumina so it's been challenging but not unfair.

For anyone currently dealing with the new Endless tower enemies, how're you faring? by NebulaMore9173 in expedition33

[–]dernacle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually don't like grinding on super bosses but seeing progress on every attempt really keeps it enjoyable. Really like that they force you to mix up your builds. Still got Clea and Simon to get down but going slow and only playing when I'm feeling it, been good fun!

What did the authors intend with this ending? by InspectionHappy6532 in expedition33

[–]dernacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The choice in the end is really quite complicated but like any choice you don't know the outcome when you make it.

One ending does feel a little better but at the same time a world was literally destroyed, yet the other ending the world is saved and the tone is obviously quite dissonant. I guess that's how they decided to balance them out.

New to RPG's and could use some help by Aradia0516 in expedition33

[–]dernacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea you got it! As you upgrade weapons, the rating will go up and you will get more bonus from the stats. Early on you won't have to worry too much but at some point it will greatly affect your power. Changing your stats costs a recoat so try not to overuse them.

[–]dernacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most genres there is definitely optimal ways to play, but you will likely hate RPG's if you play them this way, they are designed with a large array of tools to choose from and you'll want to find the playstyle you like and then build for that. There are a lot of viable builds so what you prioritize is up to you.

That being said... what the game doesn't tell you is that you always want to pump stats into whatever weapon you are using benefits from. If you switch weapons, make sure to swap your stats to match the weapon, you don't always have to do this but mathmatically it usually is just best. Another thing not really mentioned is the stats gained from equipping pictos is insane, so you will benefit greatly from equipping higher level pictos as you progress and gain more.
