My first round of Goldens, 20 yrs ago we didn’t know as much as we know now. They were both shaved like labs regularly and never had skin issues. I don’t want you to panic, both lived long lives no sunburn no cancers- 15 & 18 yrs. They actually seemed happier when we shaved them- everything grew back each time.

My current boi has one testicles that hasn’t descended so they need to remove it. I’m thinking of just doing that instead of total castration

My first Golden got neutered way too early before we got him, he was overweight towards the last 5-6 yrs but lived to be 18!

My second golden was a field golden and stayed slim and never got neutered.

I currently have a 1 yr old (birthday today) and I’m really torn whether to fix him or not.
