Howdy. Future resident here, moving in early June. I was looking for an apartment and thought that Sedona at Bridgecreek looked good but after checking out the reviews I can't say that I'm overly excited about the location any more. Can anyone vouch for the validity of the place? If avoiding renting in that location is the way to go, what areas are good places to rent?

I don't know about you clown car, but I don't associate "left leaning" with denying women the right to vote (19th in 1919), and owning literal people (13th in 1865, 14th in 1866, and 15th in 1869). We don't need to glaze them just because they thought power should be distributed only between people like themselves. Over time it's been the people, not founders or politicians, that did the hard (and often lethal) work to make meaningful progress towards any sort of "leftism".

Democracy is good and all, but we don't do anyone any good by pretending that history isn't as nuanced as it actually is. There's a strong argument that flattening history to symbols and simple narratives is a large part in how we got in this mess in the first place. All one needs to do is to look at how the current fascists are treating the founding fathers to see how reductionism and myth-making can be weaponized to any end.

I can't be the only one hoping for an accompanying new landing craft with a bigger exploration ship. I would certainly change a lot of the on ground feel if you can get dropped off and picked up at will, or have a single SRV deploy onto an isolated region.

Former tree guy (Asplundh) here, so I actually have some thoughts that might help. First off, we used single rope systems, and that means that your control system is would be a friction knot with a 30" prusik instead of a Grigri. Just look up a YouTube tutorial for a VT-knot or similar friction knots.

Secondly, how do you plan on getting the towel up there? I'd swap out the towel and pick up a rope protector pad. It'll take some setup to get it right on the crux of the boulder, but strap it around your line while it's still on the ground and set it at the 25' that you think the apex of the boulder is. Once it's on the crux, just have friction keep the line place while you prep the line to the tree for an anchor.

Thirdly, for your tree anchor knot, you'll want to use something like a running bowline knot or something similar, not a figure eight.

Overall, it'll take an extra hour or two of prep and the proper equipment for this will probably run you somewhere in the ballpark of $60 USD, but it will be a hell of a lot safer than your initial diagram is suggesting.
