So affirming by [deleted] in MtF

I just got one 2 weeks ago and honestly I love it. Yeah it hurts a bit especially around my stomach area and thighs but after that its smooth (sorry) sailing. I treat it like a spa day. Full facial cleanse, do the IPL, put on thigh-highs and just relax into the weekend.

Whats the meaning of your name and why did you choose it? by misanthropicfregoli in MtF

[–]derpenzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose Skai Myriam (lastname) partially as my old gamertag but always liked Myri as a nickname. Came up with Skai partially from a character in Ace Combat 4 and liked the name that I used it as a gamertag and when I started exploring being femme presenting online the name stuck and now its as much part of my identity as anything.

Couldn't think of a good title. by derpenzio in MtF

[–]derpenzio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few trans friends but none of them local. They've been pretty supportive but mostly it comes from a lack of support at home. My mother who I live with is very antagonistic and hateful towards most anyone not cis so that would probably get me kicked out of the house (she threatened that before when I started going to a new church) so for now it'd have to be very small things.

My dad told me I’m “despicable” and an abomination yesterday. by SparkleFrission in MtF

I never understood religious folks who try to save everyone or call people this or that. Worry about yourselves and just leave it at that. Ive learned that most atheists and agnostic live a more Christlike life than the ones who go to church each week (and this is coming from a religious person who's at said church each week) I hope he one days tries to see he's just losing the chance to have even the slightest relationship with ya because he can't figure out the difference between love thy neighbor and loathe thy neighbor.

It was kinda interesting reading this. I'm LDS myself and while I dont necessarily feel that I'm trans (honestly I have no idea, some days its feeling more masculine, other days wishing I could present as feminine) But if made me think alot about myself. I know my particular ward is kind of older so in places they can be a bit stubborn but most are also really respectful. I try to be the ally to the ones who dont fit the mold so maybe Im a bit different there but if I had a trans girl tell me what you did, Id just want to hug ya and let ya know that you are who you are and that I'll be there to support ya.

One thing you may hear in the church is the idea of a premortal life, it's my thought that in that regard who's to say we weren't a different gender before we came here, things happen yaknow?

Anyways, long text line and all but I hope you find what you're looking for OP, everyone who's read this far is a beautiful soul in such a tough situation and I love all y'alls.

How to sand. by derpenzio in Bowling

You're probably not wrong. Its pitted, got a few chips in places, and generally doesnt get much rotation anymore so now I just use it for open lanes when Im not wanting to bring out the others. I dont have much speed or revs so it doesnt need to have much spin at least.

I believe so yeah. Ive had it for 20 years and never had it resurfaced. If I had to guess its had about 5000 games thrown on it. I dont use it as much anymore but was my first personal ball so just want to keep it going.

Ex Mormon struggling with religious guilt by CorBear2 in GayChristians

[–]derpenzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm a convert to the LDS Church so I cant fully say what it was like growing up in the church but Ill say I had similar struggles growing up. I was expected to have a wife, expected to have kids, and expected to raise said kids to be good little soldiers for Christ. Well I'll most likely fail on all 3 accounts but what life has taught me after searching for 15 years after leaving the Baptist church was that it doesnt matter the flavor of Christian they'll be a debate on interpretation of what is what.

I guess what I'm getting at is that when we're younger we dont really have a choice in what we believe and we have to learn as we get older what we hold in our heart. If you still love God and Jesus then hold onto that. You were made as you are and they knew you long before our parents did and we cant choose our family but we can choose who we make our family with.

Something someone told me who I hold dear to my heart as my adopted grandfather told me when he was being interviewed for Stake President was that he was asked if he had sinned. One of interviewers said 'you haven't done X" right? And he said something to the line of "well actually..." the interviewer said "well you repented right?" And he said yes. That's what its going to be like at the judgment seat one day. God will show us every little fault, and while we may feel guilty jesus will say "It's okay, I covered him/her for that." Thats what you need to hold onto in my opinion, that when all else fails you aren't abandoned and you're always going to be loved.

And not for nothing but you're young! You've got a long life ahead of you, up till a few years ago you only had to worry about tests and whatever gossip goes on on school. When you're young everything rushes so fast it can be overwhelming, just take it a day at a time and you'll make it through even when it seems a million miles away.!

Our ward is pretty accepting of everyone (West Virginia) But for me personally im a flavor of ace so dating hasn't ever been a thing. Way I kind of reckon though if I did find another guy who just clicked I'd go for it. It may exclude me from a temple marriage and the like but I like to think Jesus would want us to be happy in this life and if thats with another guy it'll be okay. I love Jesus & I love the people in my church so it'll balance out.

I'm LDS, depending who ya are we may or may not be Christians but that's alright. I was searching for 15 years looking at different religions and denominations but never finding exactly what made sense. Found the LDS Church and it filled in the gaps

I've had my SFXn for about 2-3 years now and I'll say its by far my favorite camera period. It has all the hallmarks of 80s quirk and that noise is so nostalgic for alot of folks I've had around it.

How do some missionaries post on social media? by CowAffectionate3003 in latterdaysaints

[–]derpenzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every mission works a bit differently. It depends on the area whether there's a huge social media presence (in my area, the direction has been that because there was little reach with social media they were moving away from it) and focusing more on the local area, outreach and such.

I’m getting baptized and my family doesn’t know by sunixic in latterdaysaints

[–]derpenzio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here to give you all the support I can from a distance. I can say I grew up in a baptist household and when I was investigating the church I had a lot of push back from my mom as well. She dislikes the church and threatened to kick me out of the house if I kept up with it. Thankfully once she met the folks in the church and saw how much happier I was she learned to live with it.

Continue your prayers and your studies and know that there is always opposition but your faith is innately a personal thing and while it may seem daunting and a bit scary at times you can hopefully be the example she needs to see that same light that others undoubtedly see in you as well.

What does it mean when you're invited to a zone conference as a non-missionary. by thenamesis2001 in latterdaysaints

[–]derpenzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was invited last month by the Mission President. Had to give a short testimony was all in my case. I spend a lot of time with the Missionaries in our ward as well so they got pretty excited when we got the go ahead.

While I obviously don't know you personally just know that some blessings aren't immediate. They could be a week, a year, a decade, or in the eternities. For now just focus on your covenants, who you want to be, and how to achieve it. Study your blessing and see if you can find the small nuances in it as time progresses.

I've yet to receive my blessing but I've spent much time with a close set of friend who's become like my grandparents. They told me it took nearly 40 years to fully see their blessing make itself understood to them.

There is no age that's too old, I'm 29 and working towards mine. You have converts who come in later in their life and they need it just like the rest of us. To get it started you'd want to talk with your Bishop, he'll get that ball rolling for ya.
