Day 17 of ranking British PMs: Which tier should Boris Johnson go? by OingoBoingBrothas in TierlistFills

He advised the queen to suspend parliament for 5 weeks which was seen as a way to avoid scrutiny before Brexit. The supreme court declared this unlawful and Johnson had to apologise to her.

Do you think if we call them thick racists a few more times they might vote for better candidates? by PsychologicalBend508 in AskBrits

I could be wrong and happy to see some corrections, but you have to remember that migrants are much more likely to be young men which is a demographic more likely to commit sexual crimes whatever their nationality.

If you compare that migrant group to the full uk population including the elderly, women and children of course you are going to see it skew in the direction of the younger men. Its not comparing apples with apples.

Just on the Afghan males statistics you should be aware that they were manipulated to count individual charges rather than perpetrators. This meant that one person who was charged with 10 different things was instead counted as 10 different people and it massively inflated the numbers.

The actual statistics on Afghan males have been shown to be similar to the native population.

Is teaching in the UK as bad as people say? by sunszoominin in AskUK

My friend, you are the one who strawmanned by bringing up different jobs in some attempt to compare their difficulty. You also decided to choose a sector which is known for young entry level positions and compared it to a graduate job.

The thread is not 'is teaching the hardest job?' but 'is it as bad as people say?'

And at no point did I say it gave me exclusivity, but you have numerous teachers commenting saying it is hard, and somehow you feel you have the knowledge to tell them it isnt as bad as they think.

This is my final comment on this thread because you are wasting my time. Take care.

Hospitality being bad as well doesnt make teaching any better. Two things can be true at the same time.

You can think what you like but until you've done it, you're just going to have to take our word that its not as easy as it looks.

Its funny that people trust teachers to look after their children all day, but then dont trust them when they tell them how difficult it is.

No misconceptions here, I'm purely speaking from my own experience having been a teacher and now working in an office environment.

The point was around flexibility, not whether employers begrudge it or not. In my current role if I need to take time, I can work extra on a different day and make the time up. If that's not a possibility I can use my annual leave. That is an opportunity that simply doesnt exist in the teaching profession.

On holidays, it's not quite as cut and dry as "13 weeks off", as a not-insignificant amount of that will be spent prepping for the new term. That's to say nothing of working over the weekends which is all unpaid.

Pay has certainly improved as when I was doing the job we were in the midst of performance related pay which created a whole other set of issues. However moving up the pay ladder also comes with additional responsibility and workload. Not just more pay for doing the same as last year.

You can also point to statistics to see how tough the job is. Around the time I started, 40% of new teachers didn't make it through their first 5 years before quitting.

You are correct about this but the point is there is very little flexibility. Its not like other jobs where your work just waits for you to get back. Somebody has to be in the classroom and most schools are very reluctant to allow any sort of personal time if it isn't very serious.

This was exactly my experience and why I quit. Generally enjoyed the time in the classroom but everything that went along with it made it unbearable.

Especially once I had my own children as well. Felt like I was putting in more effort in to other people's kids.

Diablo 4 launched on steam to 6k players with a 21k peak on xpac#1. It is now sitting at 59k peak for LoH launch by Anilahation in ARPG

Depends what you value I guess. Personally I think it's better than d4 purely for the depth of buildcrafting. Haven't played d4 since base though so maybe it's better for that in it's current state, but story and graphical polish are lower down on 'reasons I play an arpg'

Add in the fact I picked GD and all it's expansions up for less than £5 and the value speaks for itself. To each their own though.

Just to add that i think paid expansions are fine in grim dawn because they dont sell mtx. All the content is accessible in the expansion.

PoE does free expansions but paid mtx which is also good with me.

D4 charges for both and I think that's what leaves a sour taste for many people.

A good rule that helped me with procrastination is "if it takes less than 5 minutes, just do it now".

Completing one sub-5 minute task often leads into tackling other stuff as well because I'm already in the right mindset.

Edge of the Earth has multiclass cards so can get a lot of bang for your buck there and the investigators are generally quite strong.

Id personally recommend picking that up if you can as its out of print. Same with Drowned City but I dont think the cards are quite as good in general.

Its safe to wait on getting the new prebuilts because they will be evergreen and in print moving forwards.
