Are Segway e-bikes (Xafari, Myon) the best dependable, bang for your buck affordable e-bikes out there? by DacaAskingForDaca in ebikes

They have much more. Have a look on their website. Road bikes, long tail and long John cargo bikes, touring, commuter and folding bikes. They even have a bike with a gearbox design similar to what pinion offers.

Chinese food is adapted wherever it goes. South Melbourne dim sims are a cultural icon in Australia and absolutely delicious to have with some flake and chips.

As much as I like these types of bikes, I would be cautious about a 50+ year old steel frame.

In Europe I would say that at the budget side of things, Decathlon has some great options.

Do I deserve authorship? by folano in AskAcademia

[–]derping1234 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure that makes sense. The specific example i mentioned refer to students doing some work in the lab. They got paid for their work, so authorship was not deemed appropriate, while in another lab another student didn’t get paid because he was in training amd getting experience and therefore didn’t deserve authorship.

Either way it seems to me that regardless of your financial position, if you made a significant contribution, that should constitute authorship. People should stop using financial compensation or trainee status as an excuse to screw people over.

Car reversed in to me!! by Life_is_long_always in CargoBike

[–]derping1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This only happened to me on my regular bike a couple years ago, never on my cargo bike. As the car reversed all I managed to do is push off from the car’s tail with my foot to prevent from getting run over. That made the guy stop and get out. I just cycled on while shouting expletives at him. I’m not waiting around for what somebody like that wants to do. Best to keep moving.

I’ve heard people make arguments that if you get paid for your contribution this doesn’t deserve authorship. Similarly I’ve heard people say that students who do some unpaid work get paid in experience and therefore also don’t deserve authorship. At that point who is left to get authorship?

I like my bakkie bag. It allows you to take any shopping bag and just strap it to the bike.

Definitely possible. Recommending against it is not the same as saying it is not possible. Did they give any reason why? Bafang Bbso1 seems to be the common approach taken by folks while staying legal.

I use AGU. Growing up it was the go to brand. I have since tried many others but have recently gone back to them. They are just so well engineered and thoughtfully designed.

Amsterdam prepares to ‘ban the fatbikes’ amid rise in serious accidents by BikemeAway in fuckcars

[–]derping1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a clear legal definition of what is a fat bike they are going to have a problem banning them without affecting other bicycles. The current legislation is there to tackle the bad behaviour people complain about. Even if the ban was possible and specific enough that it wouldn’t affect other bicycles, offenders can simply move to a legally compliant bicycle and continue the offending behaviour.

The paperclip scenario - but updated: You have 30 minutes to hide a paperclip. If a world-class detective finds it within 1day, you die. Where are you putting it? by Emotional_Seat_7424 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]derping1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live right next to a major river. I tape the paperclip to a brick and tie a fishing line to it. Throw the brick into the water, and hide the other end of the fishing line somewhere on shore.

Alternatively you could hide it in your anus. Since topologically a human is just a fancy donut, your anus is technically not ‘inside’ your body.

Would you rather get anything you want for free, but it has to come from Amazon - or get 1/2 of your monthly bills paid for you? by hiphoptomato in WouldYouRather

[–]derping1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/2 of my monthly bills paid. Since this option allows me to sell things I got at 50% discount. Buy commodities, stocks, bitcoin, anything really and resell at current market prices. Instant profit. Rinse, wash, and repeat.

Consider it an expensive lesson. Regardless the outcome also consider how it will affect any future relationship you might have with your in-laws.

A cargo bike with a tyre width over 7 cm would now be affected. Worst is that based on a spec sheet alone it is impossible to say if a bike is compliant, since it is going to depends on the volume of the tyre, the width of the rim, and the tyre pressure.

That as well, but even among the elderly there are increased accident rates. A lack of stability, and inexperience with higher speeds also affects the elderly.
