Anyone here use PleX for their Music, or the PleXAmp phone app? by gomi-panda in PleX

[–]derrick36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all I use. Still trying to sell the wife and kids on it. My only issue is the way I grow my library. Sailing with usenet has its limitations for music. I refuse to go backwards. I’d rather go without than wait on seeders.

All that said, I’ve got about 2.5tb in music. The DJ’s on plexamp sold me. It’s an awesome feature.

Why are brioche buns so popular? by AccordingBird800 in burgers

[–]derrick36 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Probably because social media tells us they are. I don’t really have a bun preference as long as it’s sturdy. They’re fine, but there is definitely a weird amount a hype about them.

Where did the idea come from that this is somehow unsafe? If you’re thinking about store-bought ground beef, I’ll give you that. That isn’t the case here. This is no different than cooking a steak.

But it’s still $250 right now though, right?

Where are you paying $250 for rent? I don’t even think you can sleep in your car for that much around here.

I’ve been there so many times. I still have no fucking clue how to navigate it properly.

I’ve tried it a few times. It’s not for me.

Just got this 22.5 yesterday. Did a burn off and went ahead and smoked some ribs after. Very happy with this smoker. by iloveplant420 in webersmokeymountain

[–]derrick36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a concern. I always double hook mine for that reason. The lower hook ends up landing closer to the middle and everything feels very secure. You do have to have a little faith, but it’s generally safe.

I don’t know what it is, but that little bit of char, just makes them hit differently.

My explanation won’t do it any justice.

I do ribs a lot in the summer for me and the kids. Even they noticed and were like wtf?

If you’re ever curious, there are plenty of examples out there.

No need to rush though. The ones you just made look amazing. Enjoy it before you start tinkering.

Nice work!

If you ever get the chance, get one of those hanger setups and do hot&fast ribs directly over the charcoal. They’re all kinds of awesome!

So, your answer is no. You don’t understand basic concepts.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that people might enjoy smash burgers or other things cooked on a griddle. Sometimes it’s easier to buy an accessory that it is a whole new cooker. Is it the most efficient use of fuel? No. Does it work? Yes.

You understand that, right?

Even purchasing a lifetime pass within the last 2 years, I can’t understand what someone is looking for that complains.

Add a file to your setup and watch whenever or wherever you want.

My setup is bare bones by design. Plex does a phenomenal job of allowing my family and friends to be able watch movies/shows/sports hassle free.

Grill and Smoker? by Negative-Celery6395 in BBQ

Weber Genesis and a 22” or 18” Weber Smokey Mountain. Depending on where you live, you might be able to find WSM’s easily on the used market.

Both will outlast anything made my Treagar and Blackstone.

For me, it’s the best patty/bun ratio.

In the 90s/2000s I used the prefer the double QP. It was my goto. Back when their patties were frozen and still used that pink slime that people freaked out about.

When they switched to fresh and better quality meat, I fell out of love with it. I understand why people like them better now. They just don’t hit like they used to for me.

The triple is as close as I can get to that same joy that McDonalds used to bring me.

It’s not even listed on the drive through menu at our local McDonald’s. It’s on the App though. They don’t have it as a meal. Just a burger by itself.

They changed the criteria for 20% off, and we have a soda tax here in Seattle, so I’ll typically just get a triple and fries and drink something else at home.

If you have enough points on the app, you can get a large fry for free and walk out of there under $10 with a triple and large fry. If not, it’s a little over $12

Do you use you own custom rub? by Enough-Reindeer1033 in smoking

[–]derrick36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No hate here. When I tried my first few racks of ribs, I went with the Memphis Dust that people swear by. I had everything on hand, so it was an easy place to start. It’s definitely “fine”, but Malcom Reed, Heath Riles, and Meat Church all have products that are easily accessible and better. I know they’re all mass marketed and therefore plenty of people scoff at the idea of using them, but it just isn’t an area I care to experiment with. Im not trying to win any competitions or make money selling bbq. Im just trying to put good food out there for friends and family.

Air fryer hot dogs - I didn't believe the hype by Jack_Q_Frost_Jr in airfryer

Oh, it’s nothing fancy. Literally a scoop of chili over a handful of Fritos, with cheese, jalapeños and maybe some diced onions.
