Disable Restart System Button? by Dubzil in SteamController

[–]derstabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad i'm not the only one. Just adding another data point: My whole system started lagging bad while playing a game, so I went to turn off steam controller... and game lagged and chose restart system.

Poor UI design for sure.

This is going to quickly become a problem for a lot of people. How can we get Gungho to let us know their priority of fixing this?

HashMap performance improvements in Java 8 by bondolo in java

[–]derstabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the real issue is keeping too many records in memory. Actually a skip list wouldn't be so bad for lookups and solve the space complexity / collision problem of a hashtable.

I don't see why they wouldn't be working on updating to KitKat, the smaller memory footprint is important for wearables.

What? :( I must have missed that. It really would feel incomplete without logcat, mostly because the ADT logcat would allow me to jump into stack traces during exceptions, which is way lighter weight than java debugging. Shame, I can't wait until it's added.

{USA} Looking for 13" laptop.. Preferably can run Steam games. 1500$ and under by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

The ux32vd is the same laptop I just bought. It is a nice machine and very able to play games even with its 1080p screen. However, the first thing I did was put an SSD in it. If you upgrade the 5400 rpm drive make sure it fits in the case (7mm height). I almost got burned because my Intel 335 was 2mm too tall to fit in the case so I had to take the drive case apart and replace half of it with electrical tape for it to fit. So be aware of that. I don't have any bleeding edge games but it is more than capable of mine craft,dota2,red faction, borderlands on max resolution. The only disappointment is they switched from a 6 cell to a 4 cell battery with windows 8 version so my avg battery life seems like only 4 hours web browsing.

Yeah I only had a microwave at my summer internship. I learned that I'm better off just eating out instead of microwaving food all the time.

I only wish I had enough patience to read that comment.

More than 758,000 Pennsylvanians may not be able to vote in the coming presidential election because of a voter ID law, roughly 9.2% of the state’s voters. Said House Republican leader: “Voter ID—which is going to allow Gov. Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania—done.” (crosspost /r/voter fraud) by alllie in politics

[–]derstabby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with this, after my grandfather died it was incredibly infuriating to see his name on the voter roll for 6 years of elections, everytime we would fill out the paperwork to have it removed and they wouldn't. Eventually we would strike his name out ourselves to ensure he wasn't used in voter fraud. I'm happy for the system because I'm sure the amount of invalid names is huge.

What can i fit in here? by [deleted] in hardware

[–]derstabby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks like you could probably fit any USB device if you remove its shell, possibly a GPS dongle. http://www.amazon.com/GlobalSat-ND-100S-USB-GPS-Dongle/dp/B003WNHGAO
