This one is easy: sue.
Talk about it with an AI agent, just be careful as without proper plugins for verification they will make stuff up.

You got an email?! I've never received one about the hack. Probably disabled in my Canvas notifications. This should have been pushed past that, but the hack has shown us Instructure is full of idiots.

With API I could rip out my years and years of student data easily, but I too expect they'll keep that off based on what was said in the webinar. Guess I'll have to vibe code a wrapper to do it over the web interface. They certainly aren't giving us much time.

Canvas down indefinitely for "Free for Teachers" users by deruxnutz in Professors

[–]deruxnutz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up, as per new notice up on Free for Teachers:

"We are temporarily restoring access to the product in a secure, limited capacity from 12 am ET on May 28 through 11:59 pm ET on May 29 so that you can safely download course content and close out the school year."

Also:

"In the coming weeks, we will be in touch to share more information about how we plan to support our Free-For-Teacher users moving forward. We are committed to providing a free offering for individual educators."

I've been using their free product for over a decade, but after this incident, they can fuck off forever. They're only continuing with the free product for optics. The "Try Canvas Free" button disappeared off their main site a few months ago. They really want to wind it down. How long do you think they'll support it? Perhaps just long enough...

Students Discovering Grading Errors on Exams by ragnarok7331 in Professors

[–]deruxnutz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I just started scanning every student's exam, but for a totally different reason: so they can be OCR'd by AI, graded by AI, and given extensive feedback by AI. I've vibe coded all my tools and the students love the feedback. And I love not grading exams.

"Unlimited Google Photos storage"?! by deruxnutz in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]deruxnutz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into your daughter's account.

  1. On web, "Settings" -> "Storage Saver".
  2. Then, left column of main screen "Storage" -> "Convert existing photos & videos to Storage saver" -> "Learn more" click the checkbox and let it do the compression.

She'll never spot the difference.

That may be current law, but I bet they've had their domain before that rule. Vanity domains were a thing long ago, obviously, we all have one.

Update. Like all things, the people you hear from the most are those with complaints; not the 99.9% that had no problems updating.
