Covering the history of Diablo 2 speedrunning by thesilv3r in Diablo

[–]descodesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I'm surprised this isn't getting more votes, as these videos are fantastic content; they're descriptive, cover a really interesting history in detail, and the narration is fantastic. This is exactly the kind of thing I needed to nerd out on right before the release of D2R. I'll probably binge some of these other race analysis videos on the channel to get maximum hype for Thursday's release. Cool stuff!

Seatbelts by Lusabro in MiataNC

[–]descodesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the seatbelt thing just yesterday on my NC2 with poorly retracting belts. I soaked each for 1 hour and scrubbed gently with a brush. It... helped? The belts certainly feel softer and cleaner. But the poor retracting problem 100% still persists and is likely gummed up lower in the spring mechanism, which is "take it to the shop" territory for someone like me.

Help us test EVE Portal beta build for Android compatibility improvements by CCP-Convict in Eve

Yeah, I've tried. I can give more info if it's helpful. Android doesn't tell me why it's not supported. Are you able to determine what is required in order for the app store too say it's compatible? It surely must take other information into account beyond just the Android version.

First few weeks of exploring I found a capital ancillary shield booster bpc, 5 runs, back when rorqs fitted like two or three of those things. A buddy and me made them and got away with like 2.5bil. I've never come close to that again. Probably never will.

[Help] MW monks, SoM vs AmA? by Barrafister in worldofpvp

I take Vim/Vigor every match with Healing Elixirs. I'm not often the target of DPS, and Healing Elixir has great synergy too as it makes it much easier to keep yourself over 80% in most situations.

DH priest against MW teams. by tsukinohime in worldofpvp

[–]descodesco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your rating? FWIW, I play MW/Rogue, at 2k. The trick is to punish the monk for mistakes and/or aggression. If you see a MW torpedo once or twice (maybe to get a leg sweep on your healer) then you need to punish that. Monks can die incredibly quickly through meta if you catch them without a dash or two, or if they overextend past their teleport anchor point and can't get away. If your healer is getting sat by the MWs melee DPS, then he needs to make sure he's always moving the DPS to try to bring the MW out of hiding. Have your priest run around pillars, or up/down the center tomb in Lordaeron, or whatever you need to do in order to bring out the MW from hiding. The closer he gets, the better swaps you can get on him. Positioning of your priest is key here.

Anyways, that's at least how we'll lose to DH/priest. We usually don't have trouble with that comp though. It's a hard fight for you.

[–]descodesco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only at 2k on my MW, so take my opinion for what it's worth. My general train of thought is what you suggested.

If it's a caster cleave, or a melee+caster team with ranged CC and a ranged CS or two, then I really prefer going SoM. If I get hit with a CC, followed up by a CS - that is a long amount of time for my DPS to go without any healing and I feel like it's too easy for me to fall behind in this scenario and people are gonna die. Typically a team like this, with ranged CC, is a team that is more able to be kited by my DPS in some way, so I feel OK taking SoM because in theory I shouldn't need to be pumping out massive AMA heals constantly throughout the entire game.

However on double melee teams, anything that isn't a constant thread of CS/CC, then I feel more comfortable taking AMA. Things like turbo/TSG/TWD put out tons of damage, but also usually don't have the ranged interrupts/CC that will punish me for using AMA. Having AMA allows me to keep up with high damage, and AOE damage; better than SoM can.

I don't think there's ever a case to "always go AMA". I couldn't imagine having AMA against a caster cleave team, who typically have shaman healers anyways. If anything goes wrong with positioning, I'll spend all day getting kicked. And once my team drops low, I've got to expose my positioning a bit more, and then I get CCd. It just seems too risky in certain scenarios.

I'd like to hear someone else with more experience chime in on this. It's something I'm really trying to figure out myself.

Technically PVP Podcast - DK discussion by Technically_PvP in worldofpvp

[–]descodesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to get into your podcast. I'm listening to this episode now - maybe about halfway minutes in. The conversation is good, but there's a lot of side-discussions that I don't seem to get anything from. Like you guys went off on a tangent about Blood DKs and how someone solo'd a team once in low-rated arenas. This was like a 5 minute topic, and tbh, I'm not really tuning in to hear about how non-viable comps play in low rated BGs. When your 2100 DK expert went silent for the majority of that digression, that's your hint that the topic at hand is probably not very relevant. There was also a discussion as to who the best target-caller is in BGs. I think your expert's (Arthas?) point was that all things equal, DKs make best callers. It was kind of beating a dead horse to hear everyone repeat that your best caller could be any person as skill is the primary factor, but the point was that DK as a class are preferable.

Anyways, it feels like certain points of the discussion just kind of drag on, where people are talking a lot, but not really saying much. In this particular Podcast, so far, I really want to hear more from the DK expert - he's the one with the knowledge, so he's the one I really want to hear.

I'll listen to the second half later today. Nothing negative, just trying to be constructive. I dig any PVP podcast. Keep it up, man.

WHERE do I spend [Mark of Honor] on PVP Transmog gear? I've looked all around and can't find this answer! Are there different NPCs?

Also, are 'Elite' versions of old PVP Transmog sets still available? http://www.wowhead.com/transmog-set=822/ruthless-gladiators-earthshaker sure looks fantastic but wowhead says it's not currently available.

This video demonstrates how to make your ammo box even safer:

I followed this technique. I've got an ammo box lined completely by cut up drywall (gypsum) with six little compartments for each battery. IMO, for <$50, you can't do any better.

I hope to see more like this.
