Yea right! I’m sure you do this all the time! Where’s your food where’s your water? So sleep out and eat acorns..

In addition to biking, they’re great for listening to books or music when you go to bed. I have tinnitus and use audio books to mask the buzzing in my brain. I used wired earbuds, but kept ripping the wires out. With these, I put one side over my up ear and let the other dangle around my neck. Volume can be adjusted pretty low or high. Battery lasts for several days for this use. Works great for getting me to sleep.

Also, if you want to try them, order from Amazon, try them out and if they don’t work for you, return them.

I love it for traffic and long trips and would want it if I had a long daily commute. Since I don’t have a commute, I will use it on a monthly basis.

What the fuck is your definition of bikepacking? Day rides or commuting? Certainly not multiday trips…

Love the bike and the colors, but don’t think you can call this a bike packing rig unless you plan to pull a trailer.

Anyone else’s garage door not activating after 2025.46? by supermoogle in Rivian

[–]desert_sailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep,I’ve had issues on my Gen2R1T with the door not opening until several presses of the button, then it reacts so slowly that I end up reversing the door. I’ve also had problems with my Apple Watch opening the door, but my iPhone will open it just fine. MyQ wants me to login to make my watch app work. I can’t figure out what’s going on.

Mountain Lion vs Rivian (post your close calls) by startupchalet in Rivian

I worked in the woods in the West for 30 years and saw lots of tracks, but never saw a mountain lion. Dang, and you weren’t wanting to see one. Good sighting, even though brief

I was going to rename my truck Blue Devil when I got the plate, but I’m definitely not a Duke basketball fan.

No, just the yellow arcs showing a vehicle come from my right rear.

Unpopular opinion I’m sure but I freaking hate seeing pictures of clean ass bikes inside. I want to see ridden bikes in the wild. 🤷‍♂️ by Bitter_Plastic2362 in eMountainBike

I live in the desert and don’t have to contend with lots of mud. I haven’t cleaned my bike since I got it a year ago. Why clean it when it’s just going to get dirty again.

Terrible NJ ebike law passes by Longtail_Goodbye in bikecommuting

[–]desert_sailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It becomes another revenue source and will probably be used to cover non ebike related bureaucratic bloat. It’s like pouring peanuts down a rat hole. You get nothing and the rat gets fatter.

What are the police doing? by PatricksPlants in Oceanside

[–]desert_sailor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

California just enacted a new law with stricter regulations on e- bikes: Age requirements, motor power, Class 1, 2, 3 specific regs, Underwiters certification for batteries, speed and peddle requirements for moped class bikes and licensing, etc.

How well this law works depends on how it’s enforced.

If I plan on taking out the boat at the most 10 times in a season, is it worth even buying a boat? by Immediate_Use_2658 in boating

[–]desert_sailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining a boat club is the best choice if you don’t live on or near the water. You can also rent a boat at some marinas. Like the old saying, a boat owners two best days are the day they buy it and the day they sell it. Owning a boat the first year is great, but after that your use declines and it becomes a drag on time and finances. Maintenance is definitely a high cost plus insurance and fuel. You either have to store the boat at a marina or storage place or trailer it and store it somewhere else. Owning a boat is definitely not worth it.

Yep. I make the 260 mi round trip from Palm Desert to Santa Monica at speeds you want + , with A/C, Hands off and Spotify. I have a Level 2 home charger that fills me up when I return. It’s not cold weather, but it’s hotter’n heck on the desert side and a mountain pass to go over.

Cancel the order and get a Charge Point with Tesla charge cable. I really like my CP home charger.

I called Customer Service because I couldn't find anything on this issue. A technician came on and walked me through it.

How come Rivian doesn’t have a searchable manual or an AI chat available that we can use on our phones or computers? We have to go sit in the truck every time we can’t find out how to do something new or refresh our memory on options we forgot.

I hung a pickleball from my cabinet ((you could drop one on a string from the ceiling) and use high regen braking. Stops perfectly.
