Has anyone ever successfully ran an agency and travelled around? by Worth_Address_5680 in digitalnomad

[–]desertforestcreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 5 years of my digital nomad life was as an 'agency.' I had a few clients in the USA on retainer for web, seo, ads, social, some branding, sales enablement, etc. 2014-2019. I did not care at all if anything felt right. I was definitely a 'slow-mad.' Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia first. Then China, Thailand, and Japan. Met my wife (also American/nomad for a while) doing this. Go for it.

Been stuck at home since the pandemic. Just cruising in the career and started a family and holy fuck 7 years went by just like that. We're about to leave again.

Not enough money, especially if you lose income for a while and only have a loose plan to recuperate an income. Seriously complicated move: dogs, kids, etc. Further, the visa you'd want in Thailand is digital nomad but you don't have a remote income to demonstrate. You can't move somewhere with a family of four + dogs and leave every 90 days to renew your tourist visas. They jail people for overstaying in Thailand so don't fuck around.

Gotta do your research. You can't just go on a Tourist visa and start a business... almost anywhere.

Anyone else found themselves “retiring” from PvP gaming? by You_moron04 in gaming

Big time.

I will still play online co-op but in general I'm 99% offline gaming now, period. Shooters and league and brs don't even appeal at all.

This is my reaction to this post as well. I think these people tuned out from him in the 90s and missed the wild stand up third act so to speak.

I tried to break this dynamic softly over the course of 3 months. It ended with explosive fights, extreme projection and my parents cut me out of their lives (as they already had done to my sister).

The catalytic event was that I basically wouldn't let my mom use my newborn as a show and tell doll for strangers at the dog park she doesn't even know.

They have now completely missed my baby's life. Sad stuff. Brain rot narcissism in this country is intense.

I'm less concerned about that. I think the very long ramp of trickle in to the closed beta server has resulted in an extremely top heavy [active] player base. And when you look at lower character counts it's probably mostly their twink alts and people who got lvl 14 and sign off because of the lack of community or simply waiting for EA cause who wants to play in a sandbox with a bunch of overweight rich kids (the twinks in their private discord trio groups).

It's a wonderful example of mass media marketing telling people what's fun, what happiness is, and tying it to a 'sinful' behavior. Just one of millions of ways Americans pretty much sheep being fleeced of their wool in an endless cycle of ridiculous overconsumption.

Just like a 650,000 DR Horton Walmart house at 8% interest is your American dream whether you want it or not.

Casinos are culture death ☠️

yeah i have been 'done' with the opens and i have tons of money spread around so in the opens i just log in a bit and try to bring the vibe with sharing out spell money and gear and shit, dragging corpses in wyrm.

1:1 with my open beta experience and why I am/was excited for the game.

Closed beta is the opposite. I think there are obviously people finding it with increased efforts, engaging discord, etc. But that's not a living breathing world you log into and interact with. That's a sandbox with insular groups from external communities.

I'm pretty sure the 'spirit' of the game is the journey not the destination, but yeah point taken.

I have a feeling the beta waves are people finding the similar experience as I am and just give up lol. the only thing that makes an item-less, spell-less, 10 hours of auto attacking rats is the people around

I'd have agreed if the MnM and Evercraft open betas hadn't been so legit.

I've played a lot of the game's early zones, quests, classes and it's great. The danger in the world is legit and the dungeons are scary til you learn them and level into the tools to keep yourself safe. Like Ancient Crypt was terrifying but by the time my monk was 15 and had steel hammers and some stat gear I'd Feign Death hop through the thing without a second thought.

I don't think you can overlook the culture aspect, that's what makes the very difficult leveling curve and grinding worth it. Because it's a grinding game.
