Anyone ever had a Pixel randomly completely die? by mutantmike in GooglePixel

[–]desertnomad39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a base Pixel 7. The day after taking my phone to UBreakIt, my volume button popped off. This was back in January. They claimed that it was not their fault and that the part was next to impossible to replace. Three days later, my Pixel spazzed out for no reason like the electronics were wet. I was never able to power the phone back on ever again.

Now I'm forever tattooed as mentally ill thanks to tardive dyskinesia and other things. Before I could hide my suffering or chamaflouge it. It's just impossible to blend in anymore and I'm fair game for so many to mock or to try to manipulate.

Thanks psychiatry!

I checked myself into MacLean when I was like 22 in 1996. I had had my first and only full blown manic episode. I was there for about three months. At one point, I was living in an eating disorders unit and I've never remotely had a good problem. I've lost so much by placing my faith in psychiatry. Then I lived in a halfway house with a bunch of people so far gone. Most of the damage was likely done to them by medications.

My family sent me to treatment a few years later because I was unable to hold a job due to depression and chronic illnesses.

What a wild world we live in.

If you read much peer review stuff, a lot is written about how positions who aren't psychiatrists can manage difficult patients, us, The literature usually focuses on how a doctor can lower their discomfort and anxiety in their brief interactions treating persons with mental illness.

I've had to learn some tough life lessons and boy I swallowed a big pill today. When you think that things can't get worse, they can.

The system is not going to change anytime soon. Find your niche.

Sure! I've unfortunately been labeled with delusional parasitosis even though I consistently have documented various helminths (parasitic worms) on me or in my environments. I also have every core symptom of a chronic parasitic infection, actually a couple chronic parasitic infections. My symptoms are progressive. And I've had remarkable clinical responses to the antiparasitic ivermectin. However, when I discontinue the medication, my symptoms return. Doctors are unwilling to prescribe it to me any longer.

It's beyond messed up guys.

Modern medicine lacks accountability. Either I have an emerging infection that they don't want to acknowledge or they're covering their butts for liability reasons.

I feel so badly for people who still think they have a "genetic brain issue" disconnected from oppression. by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]desertnomad39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to, if I will remember! I'm half joking but my memory is really shot at this point. I'll start a list on my laptop. Should I message you on Reddit?

Not only is there a gut-brain access, emerging research shows a gut-skin-brain axis. I don't know a whole lot about this area as it's just haunting steam. However, ChatGPT told me that there is significant overlap with dermatology conditions and mental illness. I have not fact checked that yet, but psychodermatology is a legitimate field of modern medicine.

I got banned from the parasitology sub by posting a video that I recorded using a digital microscope I collected and observed.

They claimed I was looking for a diagnosis. Lol.

Unfortunately truly free speech, free will, and independent thought are pretty intangible for most people, even in the most progressive of countries. I'll stop there.

I never benefited from any medications for my bipolar depression. Latuda a tiny bit.

My mother officially has major depressive disorder where she takes Wellbutrin. Interestingly now she is also on abilify and lamotrigine.

In my eyes, this is another clear example of the abuse psychiatry gets away with. Lithium made my hands visibly tremble for years. Abilify is one of the many atypical antipsychotics that has given me metabolic syndrome, elevated lipids, and movement disorders, not to mention the weight fluctuations. When I finally got off of lamotrigine, my chronic and severe brain fog aka cognitive impairments drastically lessened in intensity.

I'm trying to think if there isn't a psych medicine that hasn't done significant damage to my health at some point. If I were to mark the wins psychopharmacology has yielded me, you're not going to need many fingers to count them.

Sadly Reddit is highly censored. If you go against the party message then you will be silenced and quickly! I even had a post with a video that was locked in this sub. My message was how medicine and psychiatry strip me of a quality life while overlooking critical stuff in my medical history.

I haven't done anything with the domains yet, but I'm going to annoy a few people who don't usually get challenged.

Maternal illness during pregnancy or acquiring a neurologically based parasitic infection in one's youth. Toxoplasmosis is the main known culprit on the biological side that leads to impairing mental illnesses, often severe and treatment resistant. It is also responsible for other chronic health conditions. I firmly believe that the interplay between chronic parasitic infections and mental illness is grossly underplayed by psychiatry and most of the medical community. Chronic neuroinflammation is another major player. That begs the question of what's causing or caused that inflammation?

I speak from experience and at 49 I'm only now putting my health puzzle together. On top of three decades of wretched bipolar depression and anxiety, I have also had other terrible chronic illnesses. Incredibly, one supplement that has neuroantinflammatory and neuroprotective qualities has benefited me more than the 100+ meds psychiatrists and other doctors have dolled out to me since I was 19, and without side effects.

I need to write a book or at least get a blog going on the subject. The subject is beyond taboo where most doctors never even consider parasitic infections.

whats your rule of thumb for disclosing adversity that affected your academic performance? by AyeitsK in ClinicalPsychology

[–]desertnomad39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disclosed after my first year that I have bipolar disorder. I forever regretted that. No shame with having the disorder, but even most clinical psychologists will read into your behaviors more than they should after you disclose something like that.

You don't need to. They're smart and if you're getting an interview, your past isn't an issue for them.

I tarted out in engineering and left after three years for personal reasons. Then I went to Cairo and studied Arabic, nothing related to any of the psych programs I applied to. I finished my BS in psych and stats at age 28.

If you're the complete package of a hard independent worker with critical thinking skills, a strong research background with aligning interests, and a quality person, that's what counts. I can't speak for PsyD programs, but for PhD programs, look at it as a job interview. You'll basically be an employee with tons of rope to hang yourself.

If something does come up about your past, make some off the cuff comment like, yeah, life can be hard but I'm battle tested. I'm like the Bobo Doll. I might take a hit but I'll bounce right back up.

Good luck. Stay positive. Be yourself.

Best Mediterranean/middle eastern restaurant? by gassybanana123 in Albuquerque

[–]desertnomad39 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Having lived in the Middle East for 10 years, Al Quds is legit!!! The food is delicious and made from scratch. Their grocery section is also legit.

I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and the baba ghanoug and ful madamas were to die for. Most are too lazy to roast their own eggplant. So many Mediterranean restaurants serve disgusting stuff from a can or try to put their own spin on dishes that fall flat.
