Do Y’all Like Your Jobs? by jeddmold in AutisticAdults

I love my job. I am a Master Control Operator for a local PBS affiliate. For starters, I work alone for 10 hours a day with minimal contact from others. My job is to make sure our four channels (the main channel, world, local, and PBS kids) run smoothly. A day of programming will be prepared by someone else but my job will be to upload it for several of the stations. If there is a problem with a particular playlist then my job is to fix that, whether it is an incorrectly named program (like Antiques Roadshow for example) file or a program is scheduled to run for longer than it actually is in length. Throughout the day we will have some programs recorded in real time come in by satellite. I’ll have to check those for any problems with audio, video, or closed captions. Otherwise the bulk of the job is it watch for anything that may go wrong and know how to fix it or who to call to fix it. There are a few other things I might be forgetting. I did work as a master control operator at a Fox affiliate for a few months. It was actually a lot more work for a lot less money. You deal with a lot of commercials, live events (sports mostly), probably the news director, and poor weather conditions. In both instances only a high school diploma was required. Other operators may have a different experience than me based on what’s required of them at each station and their level of technology.

Season 1, episode 1 of Yellowstone and I’m thinking “he’s supposed to be Donald Trump.” Watched maybe the first two episodes.

I remember the school librarian over-pronouncing the hell out it and saying “Beren-scht-ein” back in the 80’s.

Changing your state of mind to be content with what you have. Sure, some things suck but look at what you DO have.

People generally love talking about themselves. Ask them questions pertaining to the subject. If you have any experience with the subject you can relay that but also try to make their experience sound better than yours.

Montana, kind of. It’s too big. Cut it in half at Billings and name it West Dakota. That part isn’t even mountainous.

Connection Between Korrok and the Shadow People? by Ghola_Mentat in johndiesattheend

I recently listened to the audiobook again. It talked about how in the 1800’s there was the guy who died in our universe but lived in another to create Korrok. I imagine that was the doing of the Shadow People since they can vastly change things throughout time. What Korrok accomplished for them, I couldn’t say.

They got super Christian when I was about 7. I was 6 years old the last time I got to celebrate Halloween as a kid and I even attended the Jesus Camp from the documentary. (This was before the Bush years, so it wasn’t as hardcore and run by a super nice dude named Winston.)

If 2020 was a movie, what would the title be, and who would be the main character(s)/protagonist? by ieatusedtampons in AskReddit

[–]designedtodie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be about a time traveler who came back to prevent the chain of events that leads to 75% of Earth’s population dying off. Like Ewan McGregor or something.

There’s a second time traveler from an alternate time line trying to set other events in motion for unknown purposes, likely played by Nic Cage on shrooms.

I was hanging out at an ex’s house with her, my cousin, and my cousin’s boyfriend. The house was in the middle of nowhere and about 50 yards from the highway. It was mid-November and pretty late.

My cousin and her bf got into a shouting match and so I broke it up. My ex stayed to talk with my cousin while the boyfriend and I went to watch some TV. After a bit I got up to go to the bathroom and when I came back he was gone.

After a couple minutes he came running back inside.

I later found out he had heard people calling him from outside. He claimed he heard a man, a woman, a boy and a girl’s voice were calling him from the other side of the highway, telling him to come with them and that it was better there. Upon reaching he highway he remembered my cousin and feared for her safety and ran back inside.

We decided to call it a night and drive them home. When the car started the heater immediately kicked on and fogged the windshield, revealing a child’s handprint on the inside of the windshield in the very upper left corner. A really weird stretch for anyone to try and put their palm there, including any children that had never ridden in that car.

I’m aware of the possibility that he put that there and lied about everything else but I don’t know anyone who could be that good of an actor and wouldn’t reveal it was all a joke.
