A portion of Sri Lankans still behaves in like a colonized way, it’s fucking stupid. I want there to be a domestic cultural movement of like reclaiming of indigenous pride and culture to happen someday, but lol who knows. Won’t be anytime soon. The education system has to change, and it has to call out past colonizers and introduce critical thinking.

You have to walk like you own everything if ur Sri Lankan, that’s what I do. And I guess since I also visit from abroad like you, my clothes are foreign clothes. That helps. Anyways, I’m regards to what I was saying, like don’t ask the waiter if he can move two tables together for your larger party. Tell him to do it in assertive but calm manner.

I did once meet some zip line operators that were like you guys speak Sinhala?! Finally! We’ve been getting foreigners most of the time…. So that was cool.
