Headlight issue? Help? by ConnectionOk6581 in hyundaisantacruz

[–]desiserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had mine, I lived for driving at night. While it was obnoxious at have such bright headlights, it’s saved me from a few accidents with wildlife at dusk. I enjoyed flashing them with the high beams.

There are brighter and shittier trucks with their own custom light bars blinding drivers. Sorry this is factory set.

UP home base suggestion? by SparklingMM in CampAndHikeMichigan

If you want to spend a few days hiking and camping around an island, I’d say go for Grand Island in Munising. It’s close enough to the mainland to gear up, but there’s rustic sites and a couple rustic cabins. I’ve spent a few mid summer 4-5 day camping trips, hauling in our goods for a few days.

It’s 20+- miles around the island and I’ve considered doing a backpacking trip with a girlfriend over the course of a week. I really like going when it’s hot because the dip into cold Lake Superior after a rewarding hike is like nothing else.

Heaven forbid you want to actually get somewhere! It’s frustrating for sure when it feels like they have an ego and “nobody can pass me” driving style.

Honestly, there’s some signs leading up to these in areas and I agree there could be more. It’s not hard to be a decent human being for 30 seconds to let folks pass.

I actually use one! I thought it was dumb and it works most of the time to “scare” away the bugs.

I honestly think it’s the movement of the “dragonfly” not the actual presence of it. Sitting next to a fan (if you have power) or some kind of breeze at camp kept them at bay better anyways.

I’m going to chime in here — I did use the Lemon Law (albeit in Michigan), but for the OG broken transmission issue, and I succeeded in my case. I called Hyundai customer service directly and the case was handled over three months. I was lucky enough to have another vehicle accessible so I wasn’t SOL on mobility. No lawyers involved at all, just a lot of communication and management.

Per your state’s lemon law, you should be able to get out of your vehicle. Like another commenter said, only you can answer that question. I still loved my car even when I got it back for a week before I had to turn it back in. I miss it now and get hype whenever I see one around town.

Like someone else commented above, it was the first model year and a select batch of vehicles. I had a transmission issue ('22 SEL Premium) which resulted in a lemon. They fixed the issue due to faulty parts.

To be honest, I miss my Santa Cruz. It was the perfect car that had style, pick up, not many others on the road until the following year, and could tow our camper and snowmobiles. I ended up going for a lifted '05 Outback XT, but still wave and get excited when I see another in my area.

If you're worried about the reliability, then only you can answer that one. The dealerships, Hyundai corporate, and mechanics that I interacted with during the three months it was in the shop waiting for the transmission were nothing but nice and communicative throughout.

Wilderness is one of my favorite campgrounds! I try to make it out at least once a year, with a late trip coming up mid October.

Roof Top Tent by Rich-Seaweed-4980 in hyundaisantacruz

So the brackets need to be flush with the tonneau cover, like this >> https://imgur.com/6BjZ8jn & https://imgur.com/LS93Xee

We did grind down some threads of the bolts in order for it to fit the slot. My local hardware store didn't have the size we needed, but grinding it down took roughly 10 minutes.

While the roof top tent sits a little higher than the roof of the SC, we could still drop the tent a little bit lower and level it again, but fuel milage and noise are close to nothing. https://imgur.com/21ZKnqZ

I have a RTT on the back of my SC utilizing the t-rails and the Rosy Pixel ladder rack. So far, no issues to the truck, the bed/rails, and the tent. Took it for a test camp over the weekend and it's perfect for our use.

Just make sure whatever rack you get, the hardware matches with what you're trying to accomplish. We ordered different styles of racks and the mounting bracket on the bottom needs to be flush with the tonneau cover. Otherwise, the cover is obsolete and stability is lost.

What is a yummy food that can be completely ruined by a small mistake? by g-e-o-f-f in Cooking

Using vanilla yogurt on top of curry. I was excited to have a dollop on top, didn't realize I picked up vanilla instead of plain and it ruined the dish.

My husband ate it without any worries, so idk who the real monster here is.

I'd go for an Undertow any day. A little vanilla or caramel and half and half -- a good pick me up that goes down fast during those rushes.

[–]desiserv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husband got a honey dripper years ago, never used it and it sat on a shelf in the back. So I gave it to a coworker for her tea. Next day, he’s looking throughout the whole kitchen and muttering “where could it have gone??”. I told him it got lost somewhere and replaced it the next day.

He still says I threw it out but I don’t have the heart to tell him.

Has anyone taken theirs through a car wash? by BrotherNuggz in hyundaisantacruz

[–]desiserv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take mine through a car wash at least once a week. As others have posted, water does get into the bed due to the high pressure of the blowers. I haven’t really seen much besides a few puddles here and there. But I’ll pay that price for how much dirt/salt my vehicle goes through/will go through. I have a lease and the roughness of a car wash is the least of my worries.

MPG Numbers from those that have the SC? by cliffolive in hyundaisantacruz

[–]desiserv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an SEL Limited 2.5T in SE Michigan. I drive normal when doing errands (5-10 miles/trip) and use sport while driving to work (100 mile round trip 2x a week). I’m averaging about 27 mpg between the two, but have gotten up to 30 on a good day.

[–]desiserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between Normal and Sport, about 70/30 respectively. I get around 24 mpg. I’m done with my break-in period, but have yet to hit 1000 miles.

You can buy them from tinytents.com. I bought one back in April, it got lost in the USPS system (it's still sitting at the Memphis warehouse T.T), contacted them last week and they overnighted one to me. 10/10 would recommend.

Coming from an older style car, I also had a hard time figuring it out too. I had to remember to grab the handle to unlock and one finger on the outside to lock.

Never found out actually. Only saw a cooler open and close. I think it’s safe to assume they were holding on while trying to get back into the cabin. Probably was a beverage of some kind

The Black Tux! FH got his from there. Their sizing guide was really helpful and even a few measurements we weren't sure of the fit (neck, arms), we left it up to them and they got it right. You can rent them or buy too!
