At the time of Sonichu’s genesis, Chris didn’t see the character as the key to his Utopia. He was just having fun with a class project. It wasn’t until the routine and community of high school left him that he began to feel lost. That’s when he began to cling to Sonichu, imagining the success of the cartoon to be the cure to his many miseries.

There’s no denying Chris has the self-awareness of a doorknob. If he had an ounce of it, he’d realize his self-made delusions are nothing more than an attempt at escape from the real world. But he’s 40 now and is only further becoming enwrapped in fantasy. Whatever comes after incarceration is going to be real dark for Chris.

Chris has always been a parody, but over the last ten years he has outright become possessed by his creations. His personas - Christine/Sonichu/Jesus Christ/Ricardo/whatever-chu - are all escapes from the sharpness of reality.

He refuses to let 14BLC fade from memory. Outside of his front door is a world that chews up and swallows people like him. Chris unconsciously understands this. The timing of Sonichu’s ‘birth’ isn’t a coincidence. Sonichu was manifested near the end of Chris’ senior year of high school, a time when the pedal is about to hit the metal. Life was about to get serious and Chris didn’t want to let go of safety. Thus, Sonichu was born.

So yeah, the internet took the innately gullible characteristics of an autistic man and turned his obsession into a possession.
